For those who have stayed at DL hotel...I know there is coffee in the lobby each morning but is there hot water for tea as well? My mom needs her tea and we will have to buy and bring a hot water pot if they don't supply that.

Thanks!

In the same boat. Have to have my tea, which I bring with me. Have not stayed at DLH yet but in the past when I travel I have had no issues getting a cup of hot water to make my tea. For some trips I have brought my hot water kettle, if it would fit. :) Otherwise I would just drop by one of the food areas and see about getting a cup of hot water to make some tea.

Hope it all works out whichever way you go.

I tried to find the answer for you on disneyland.com, but it's such a speciiic question, I was not successful. If it is THAT important to you (which it sounds like it is), I would call the hotel directly and ask. (714) 778-6600 Easy way to cross that concern off your list. :goodvibes

If you ask, they will bring a coffee maker up to your room with some paper coffee cups. If your mom brought her favorite tea from home she could easily just make it for herself in the room using the hot water from the coffee maker...

If you're able to get off property, there's a great tea place up Harbor Blvd. in Fullerton if your mom is interested in trying new flavors of tea (and the foo's pretty great, too!). It's called the Tranquil Tea Lounge and it has 95+ different varieties of tea, they also sell it loose leaf to go if you want to buy some to take home.

There's a little place in the hotel called The Coffee House. They have tea on the menu there.

Can't help with the hotel question but can get free cups of hot water at any counter service location that serves hot beverages. (you can also get ice water as well.) On cold days (evenings) we bring our own tea bags and make our own cups of tea.

Don't feel weird about asking for the hot water-the CMs are more than happy to oblige. (I usually wait in line for the hot water but the CMs always tell me that you can go straight to the counter-you don't have to wait in line for hot, or cold, water.):goodvibes

I second Disneydaz's experience. I bring my travel mug and my fav tea bags (& sugar or honey packets). I never had an issue about getting hot water from the CM's. Last time we went I felt like I was getting a sore throat, so I walked around with hot tea all day. The travel mug I have seals real good so I could put it inside my purse during rides & not worry about dripping.

With asking for a coffee maker to heat water at the hotel, my problem is that my tea always tastes bitter like bad coffee. :sad2: I rarely use coffee makers for my tea. :snooty:

Hope that helps!

At least it's not just me-I don't like using a coffee maker for hot water either. Unless I run plain hot water through it a few times. Also, when we go to WDW we make sure we don't mix up the refillable mugs. No matter how well they are washed the coffee aroma can't be completely erased. I hate to take a drink of Diet Coke and catch a whiff of coffee! :scared1: Totally ruins it for me.

Agreed! Coffee makers make for BAD tea. :sad2: And carrying tea bags is such a money saver as well. I pretty much always have some on me in case I go somewhere that has none or has ones I wont use.

Also, if your Mom likes different kinds of teas I highly recommend checking out the Alice in Wonderland teas. I have gotten a few over past trips. The english breakfast is wonderful. I found them at the coffee place on Main Street as well as the Emporium and World of Disney. Great souvenirs as they come in collectible tins.

SueTGGR - was curious which travel mug you use? I have tried a few and seems I always find the ones that leak. :scared1: Would love to find a better one for our trip.

TIA

As a tea drinker I just order room service. The tea is great and the water seems to have been boiled. A coffee maker just doesn't cut it. If it is for a long visit, bring your kettle.

I swear by the one I found at CostCo. It is Contigo but it is a steel one, not plastic. It has a vacuum seal on it and is GREAT! :surfweb: I have one for my tea & one for my occasional Peppermint Mocha. This is a link to the company page with my mug! http://www.gocontigo.com/autoseal-stainless-steel-travel-mug.html
I think I saw a 3 or 4 pack of similar ones the other day at CostCo. I have not checked them out to see if they are the same ones. I bought mine about 1+ years ago. But it looks like they still make them. :woohoo:

Personally, I'd just bring an electric kettle. Using coffee machines as a teakettle just is miserable. Tried it. Bleck! And I'm in the habit of having tea or coffee 1st thing in the morning. Getting it elsewhere means I have to wait until I'm dressed. Not good either. :sad2:

I brought an inexpensive electric kettle from Walmart travel most places with it. Ilike properly boiled water to steep tea .:cool1:
