My mom has cancer

My mom called this afternoon to tell me she has breast cancer and is having a double masectomy on Monday. The tumor is big enough they are also going to do chemo too. I'm scared but I'm also so upset that she has to suffer.
She lives 10 hrs away so I'm flying home Saturday for the surgery. Please pray for her. Thanks. This sucks.

So sorry to hear that, goofyshell. With my wife, Marie, a breast cancer survivor, we know it all too well here also. Your mom and you will be in my prayers and good wishes. So much can be done today, so much more than just a few years ago.

My mom is a ovarian cancer survior. My prayers and good thoughts are going out to you! Be sure to notify YOUR gyno of your mom's condition, female cancers tend to be genetic.

Thanks everyone. I am having trouble sleeping-I don't want to think about it. It's so nice to have friends here! Lord willing, we're supposed to take a seven day Magic cruise in Oct. with Mom and Dad. I hope she'll be well by then. The cruise will seem so much more magical with a healthy mom!

That's about 9 months away so even if she has chemo and radiation, you should make it. If not, DCL was very good to me when I was diagnosed 12 days before our first Wonder cruise and considered postponing. We did bookend cruises both before and after my treatment and it was really great, gave me something to look forward to throughout those difficult months.
