My MIL got kicked off Ebay for asking too many questions. :confused3 I know it sounds strange, but that's the only reason she can come up with. Ok, let me give you the background. My MIL is looking at buying a new car and found the one she wants on Ebay, an older model Mercedes with very low miliage. The deal was this, she pays an escrow account, which holds the money, and she'll get the car for 7 days to decide if she wants to keep it. If not, she returns the car and gets her money back. Well, having never used Ebay before, she started asking a lot of questions, to whom I don't know, trying to find out how all this works. Eventually she got kicked off along with the gentleman selling the car. And now he won't return her calls regarding the car, so she lost the car she really wanted. Has anyone else gotten kicked off Ebay for asking too many questions? And before someone says, "there's got to be more to this story," let me tell you...there isn't. She has never bought, nor sold anything on Ebay before and therefor has given them no other reason to ban her. I don't know. :confused3

No clue - but since they both got kicked off, I'm assuming eBay must have some policy on how many questions and comments can go back and forth through their system. Seems kinda silly, but I'm just guessing.

Um, did she get "kicked off ebay," or did she get banned from bidding on one particular auction. If she's just banned from one auction, then, yes that can and does happen all the time. Sellers can decide for whatever reason to ban you from their auctions. Just asking a lot of questions might do it.

But if she really has been banned from ebay, well, I hate to say it, but there has got to be more to the story. Most likely, your MIL said something that sounded like she was trying to get the seller to sell her the car outside the ebay process. That might well have got both of them snagged.

My BIL asked to many questions on Ebay when he was looking for a motorcycle. He did not get kicked off but he did get blocked from using the ask the seller a question part for a week or two.

As far as I know she got Kicked off ebay. She could have been banned from that one sale and just thought she got kicked off all together...I don't know, I didn't read the email, or reason why. And not having been given the details, I can only assume that she was just asking questions regarding the process in which the whole thing worked. I know, maybe I shouldn't have posted this because I don't know the details and for that I apologize. I was just trying to understand it.

I thought the same thing as salmoneus.

Maybe someone at e-bay thought they were going to try and complete the sale off-ebay. That will get you in trouble right quick!

Also, you said she would have 7 days to decide whether she was going to keep the car. I know the e-bay folks want their cut of the profits when something is sold. (especially a big dollar item like a car)

Is there a way to do that within e-bay guidelines?
I don't know the answer - just throwing it out there as another possibility.

She was probably blocked. I've blocked several bidders from my auctions due to whatever reason, never because they asked too many questions, though!

Have her check with eBay's Live Help or to check the help pages http://pages.ebay.com/help/index.html There is always an answer.

This could be a posibility. Maybe they thought they were going to try and finish it off ebay. Who knows.

Maybe because the escrow account was going to give her 7 days to decide they thought that they were going to finish it off-line. Good thought.

Thanks for the link, I'll pass it along.

i got suspended off of ebay for 7 days because i had put up two of the 2006 disney books and a pair of sunglasses and two people were "bidding" between all 3 of my items and all of us got suspended because they said i was bidding on my own stuff. I was like no way, that's not me

and they said the same 2 people would not be bidding on both of my walt disney books (2006) and a pair of sunglass.

well they were, i couldnt help that lol

Well yeh, otherwise, what's the point of the "See Seller's Other Auctions" link. I always look to see what else a seller is selling just in case I want it and can save on the shipping. That's nuts!

that is what i said, i went back and forth with them through emails. it was crazy

I hate when people IN CHARGE make arbitrary decisions that affect you adversly and then stop writing back. It makes you feel powerless and helpless. Being powerless is not a good position to be in when money is involved and they know it.
