Hello fellow march break travelers

Well it has taken me a few years to finally figure out what I do and don't love about march break at Disney World.

Packing
Only pack half of what I used to
and just wash while reading by the pool.
No checked baggage fee and no waiting at the baggage carousel.

I love Epcot Flower and Garden Festival and this year I had a great time
Highlights:
Flowers and flowers and more Flowers, such a joy after enduring a long winter.
Food Kiosks-UK was my favorite
OZ-great theme and a couple of fun games.

Magic Kingdom
Crowds were pretty high but I still enjoy an evening watching the
Wishes fireworks. I do the Wishes Dessert Party and once again it was delightful.

DTD,
I love arriving early in the morning and enjoying a fresh cup of coffee while I watch the small town come alive.
This year I took in an afternoon movie (Oz the great and Powerful) and I must say the new Dine in theaters are impressive.

Shopping
I enjoy searching for that special something I just have to have,
this year I kind of needed and extra suitcase for all the "special" things I just needed.

Weather
Anything above zero is great by me.
Oh and no snow on the ground is a bonus.:goodvibes

Dislikes:
Third year in a row -March break
I was assigned a HA studio OKW
I am ok once in awhile being given this but I am so a "Bath Tub" kinda girl,,well maybe next year. I must say I am quite proficient at using a HA shower after my last three stays.

Time Change
Almost missed my flight due to son thinking that my alarm clock would auto set to correct time, whew I flew down Derry Road so fast I was sure I was going to get a speeding ticket:drive::drive:

I am currently stalking the Air Canada web site for a good deal for March 2014.

Hugs Mel

Shhhh:yay::yay:

I'm not sure AC(Air Canada) knows that March 7th 2014 is a PA day next year BUT
I am getting Thursday March 6th 8:30 pm flight YYZ to MCO
Coming back Thursday March 13th 8:30 pm --
$410.00 taxes included.
As much as I dislike Pearson Airport it is a ten minute drive for me.
I might have to spend a bit of that Tax return now.

Hugs Mel:banana:

OK I decided

fly out Monday March 10 to Sat March 15 2014.
6:30 am Depart--direct flight AC
8:30 pm Return--direct flight AC

booked it
Total including taxes
$450.00

Yeah another trip to plan

Hugs Mel

Holy smoke:eek::eek:

The cost for my flights just went up to $610.00 in a matter of minutes.

Wow.

Edited to add:
One day after booking this the price has gone up to $788.00
I'm so glad I didn't wait.

What a nice little TR! Derry Rd.....Hmmmm...you must be near me! $410 out of Toronto is not bad at all! And thanks for the heads up about that PA day! :surfweb:

Just to let you all know that those days aren't confirmed as of yet. Chances are they will go through as us teachers have the unpaid days to make up funding shortfall.

My school board does not confirm the next year's schedule until close to the end of the current school year, after Ministry approval and Trustee approval.

Those unpaid PA Days were given to us with all of the government contract issues, so at this point, they aren't set in stone as next year's school calendars haven't even been approved by the Ministry yet. Just something to keep in mind.

Just came back from March Break at WDW too - we have done several March Breaks as we love Flower and Garden Festival. Kids love the playgrounds and the Oz and Cars' playgrounds were huge hits!

I know you have probably heard this before, but you guys should really consider flying out of Buffalo....much cheaper and no fee for checked bags. Also, if you stay at mostly any resort they have hotel check in for your return flight.

We do it all the time and it is a breeze....:)

Hi Tiger
Yes the dates are not yet confirmed and they have to be by each board, they are just gov guidelines, thanks for posting this.
I will say that in my past 10 years of traveling during the March Break my board has not change what the gov recommends, although it is possible and I'd hate anyone to make a $ decision based on my say so.

I agree the playgrounds were great this year.

Take care
Hugs Mel

Hi thebigman65

My problem is that I live so close to Pearson Airport and
when I include:

1. Cost of Gas to and from Buffalo,
2. Car parking fee and maybe a hotel for the night.
3. The unknown March weather conditions(snow).

I usually end up looking for a good price and good flight times out of Pearson.
But I know alot of Canadians who do fly out of Buffalo.
I do think if you are a family that the cost is better flying out of Buffalo but for me flying solo it just doesn't work out.

Hugs to you
Mel

Downtown Disney AMC

One thing I will be checking out on my next trip is whether or not an AMC Movie gift card bought in Canada can be used at AMC DTD ,,the staff there assure me that it can be used. We shall see.

I am jealous of your airfare rates. It costs $400 just to get to the Vancouver airport from where we live. This is why we drive with our RV.

My dad used to have an RV and I loved going on road trips, the trip was half the fun.:drive::drive:

I once sat on a Grey Hound bus from Toronto to McAllen Texas and that was the road trip from*%ll. They call it the seven eleven milk run.:rotfl2:
