My mailbox has been marked -- any idea what little round colored stickers stand for?

Is this a post office thing? I just noticed this morning that my mailbox has a bright green round sticker on it. I never noticed it before, but since it's so bright I can't imagine I would have missed it. As I drove through the neighborhood I noticed that some -- but not all -- mailboxes had stickers of various colors. Some even had more than one. One even had four different colors. Any idea what this could mean?

We have a ton of them in our neighborhood. The local paper deliverers put them on there. I think it tells them if you get the paper and if its daily or sunday, etc.

Is it your mailbox OR the newspaper tube?? I do not think the newspaper delivery person is allowed to put the newspaper in your mailbox!!!

But I will say in our town (County) there are stickers on the newspaper tube for like the above poster said, daily as vs Sunday deliveries.

In our town (County) you can get the paper daily, or Thurs-Sun, or just Sunday, so there are many options!

Same here. And the newspaper either either goes in a tube or in a bag in the driveway, not in the mailbox... even though the sticker itself is on the mailbox.

Last time we replaced our mailbox, we didn't get a newspaper for a couple of days until someone put a new sticker on it!

Our mailbox has a bar code on it and the mailman has to scan it when he delivers our mail. It's the post office's way to track where he was at any certain time.

Yes, we have colored dots on our mailbox, too. teva, that's odd about the barcode...but then again, well, nevermind.

I've never heard of either stickers or a bar code. I wonder, would we get that right mail if it was barcoded?? Probably not, since my home obviously looks like the warehouse for Walmart!! Now if they would only send me something I could use instead of just some sort of receipt things...

We have a barcode inside our mailbox too. It's an efficient way to track the movements of the postal worker, and it also gives protection to the worker if someone claims that the mailman did not come to their house that day. I've seen resort security guards doing the same thing (checking in via barcode scanner).

That happen to my sister once....WE NEVER SAW HER AGAIN! SHe & her family disappeared into thin air!
