My Magical Quest for the Cupcake! 13 days of Craziness! Update 10/30 page 10

I'm an Arizonan too!

I've been bundling up in the mornings to walk the dogs! We're moving back to Chicago in December. We are in for a weather shock!

I love your Chef Mickey update!!! I'm so glad Jake was happy to get a hug from Mickey!!! It really sounds like the perfect start to the trip! The clothes look great!

The cupcake sounds good. I can't wait till you get one. I hope you took a photo! We made cupcakes tonight, we will frost & decorate them tomorrow for a party. Now I will be having those cupcakes thinking I wish I were in Disney having a Disney cupcake instead. :rolleyes1

Well I am happy to bring a little Burgundy into your life. I wont hijack your thread with Anchormanisms but it is part of my Disney ritual. in 2004 it was the in-flight movie and I watched it 2 and a half times during the flight. I was laughing so hard that the air marshall was aiming to take me out with a head shot!

So in 2006 I watched it the night before we left for Pop and this trip is no exception, come Wednesday night I will be having "three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese." as I watch Chanel 4 news team wreak havoc on the streets of San Diego!

As for the cupcakes, its not like we dont have food over here but I think in the US you have taken normally humble foods like the sponge and taken it to a higher level with the adding of frosting and sprinkles.

Bring on the Cupcake Revelations!!!

Grumpy

Let it be known now. There is no such thing as hijacking on my TR, especially when discussing a Will Ferrell character and a classic such as Ron. Have you so quickly forgotten the PTR and the 3 pages of my front lawn or the Will t-shirts? :lmao: :lmao:

OPEN FORUM PEOPLE!!! :rotfl2:

Perhaps the reason you dont have sponge with icing and sprinkes everywhere is why your wife is so gorgeously petite and skinny!!! :lmao:

Those cupcakes must be REALLY GOOD! I was laughing so hard at your story...:lmao:

I'm so glad that Jake finally had a positive experience with the characters. What a magical start to your vacation! pixiedust:

By the way, the clothes you made were very cute! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the compliments on the clothing. I was excited to try something for the trip.

Let me tell you the cupcakes are delicious. They would have been worth that bolt at the Poly. Can you imagine the reaction that would have gotten. Cupcake Emergency Coming Through!!!!

Subbing!

I'm so sorry your son was sick! My 2 sons got sick at the end of our last trip and it was no fun!

Your description of your sons moment with Mickey gave me goose bumps!! It should be a Disney commerical!!!! AWWW!!!

I so hope you got that delectable cupcake!! I'm having a serious cupcake craving now!!! If you did get it really need to know where!! I want one!!

Oh your poor sons. Kids should not be allowed to get sick on vacation. Like there should be a vacation button on their immune system to go into overdrive and block out everything.

The Mickey moment will be etched in my memory forever. It was so special.

I turn my back for a minute!!:rotfl: I have a lot of catching up to do..

:rotfl: That happened to me on like 15 trip reports and I wanted to start a whole bunch of new ones but I need to catch up first on the already subscribed ones! :lmao:

Oh your post made me cry!!! Good cry! Both of my girls were scared to death at the charater dinners....my oldest is very scared of many things so I know how it is to see your child overcome their fear....it's awesome!

The outfits were adorable and I would have never known about the pocket thing until you said something. They both looked great. The videos are awesome since it shows the full expressions!!

I'm excited for more and also bummed I didn't know about this wonderful cupcakes when I was there last. I'll have to put that in my book of things I want to do when I'm at WDW next!

I was crying writing it. The emotion of the night is still fresh. Only true Disney people would understand that! If I said it to a random person on the street they would send me in for medication if they didnt "get" Disney. :thumbsup2

Jeff had to explain the pockets. Clearly I didnt know! :lmao: Then when I tried to make another and couldnt make them even I just botched it more. No one pointed and laughed so I think we got away with it. :rotfl2:

You don't get too many Arizonians around these parts... Which just makes us that much more special.
I walk to and from school every day and pass through a greenbelt and it is FREEZING down there. I'm an ice cube after spending a few minutes outside in anything less than 85. Weather is so relative. In WDW, everyone was saying "It's SOOOO hot" and I was just fine. The weather-other than the rain-was pretty nice, especially during 110 AZ days.

Great update! Chef Mickey's is definately on my list for next time. Sounds like so much fun. Your kids outfits are so adorable. I can sew, but I'm not creative in any way, shape, or form. What a lovely story about the cupcake. I hope you get one!

Greenbelts are cold. Make no mistake about that. I walk through a greenbelt and I feel I need to put my gloves on when I do so.

I totally agree. We were cold the first few days. Yep I said cold. I didnt notice it the first night, I think I was so excited and not outside much, but I'll comment more on it as the days go by.

Chef Mickeys was fun. I hope I get a cupcake too! :goodvibes

I'm an Arizonan too!

I've been bundling up in the mornings to walk the dogs! We're moving back to Chicago in December. We are in for a weather shock!

See this is why I dont need to be so fast on the multiquote button. I dont see the locations. I didnt notice it the first time around. DOH! I'm excited to have Arizonan's on this TR to understand my weather issues. I have a few coming up. :lmao:

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Chicago? Isn't that the frozen north? :scared1: That would be like someone moving to AZ June 20th. Shock, Shock, Shock Can you wait til the spring thaw and then slowly build up to that sort of freezing environment. Its about 90 degrees here and we are all bundling up in the AM.:rotfl: If I knew how to knit I would start making you a scarf and hat. Take care my new AZ friend. At least you have Nov to be here with us.

Hi Kathleen. I'm sure your cupcakes are perfect! Actually all this talk has me hungry for one. If DL had one I'd drive over tomorrow and get them I'm craving one that bad but they dont. :sad2:

Jake had a great night. He will have some bad ones so hold on tight.......:rolleyes1

Try not to freeze to death! We'd miss you on here. :P

No kidding. Chicago in Dec......BRRR. Dont they talk about places like that on the news when its 75 here New Years Day? :lmao: :scared1:

Try not to freeze to death! We'd miss you on here. :P

I'm trying not to think about just how bad it's going to be!

See this is why I dont need to be so fast on the multiquote button. I dont see the locations. I didnt notice it the first time around. DOH! I'm excited to have Arizonan's on this TR to understand my weather issues. I have a few coming up. :lmao:

I know...bad timing! But my DH has to start his new job before the new year. Soooo, we're leaving here Dec 20 and he's starting Dec 29! Stretching it out as long as possible!

I grew up in Chicago, so I WAS used to the temps, but we've been in AZ 3 years, just enough for our blood to get totally thinned out!

I keep joking with DH that we're both going to have to wear snowsuits throughout Jan, Feb, March, and April!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I love the stretching it out as far as you can.

We need a group hug to keep you guys warm. :grouphug: Maybe you can take some of those patio heaters we will all be eating under at restaurants in December here and surround your house with them. I'm just throwing fire hazard ideas out I think to stay warm. :lmao:

I've been in AZ since 1985. I lived in KS until I was 11.

Yeah do the math people!!!! :rotfl: I'm 34, I'll save you the time if I didnt mention it before.

Anyway, I love driving up to the snow and then driving BACK down to my nice house with tropical plants and 70 degrees in the winter. :thumbsup2

Aw Shawna!!

Everything sounds so fun.

You have me very very curious about these cupcakes. I want to know what they taste like. Have you ever tried to copy them? They sound delightfully delicious!! :cloud9:

And your kids looked so cute for Chef Mickeys. Their outfits were perfect, and it looks like you did a great job. You even set in a sleeve. :yay: And only you noticed about the pocket. I'm sure no one else did except for Jeff. I love how Morgan had the exact same poka dots as Minnie. A darling picture.

How precious Jake was with Mickey. What a moment!! Of course Morgan's was too, but Jake made a milestone that night. It would be cute to make a poster size print of their picture, and hang it in his room. And then for Morgan to have hers with Minnie. So cute!

Can't wait to hear more.

PS- Now I have cupcakes on my mind. I wonder why DL doesn't have those babies? :snooty: No fair!!

I have a whole bolt of it sitting in my closet I was getting ready to sell on ebay because I dont know what to do with it. I can send you a yard or two. whatever you want! Let me know! :thumbsup2

You would!? OMG that would be awesome!!!!! We could make a headband and put layered ruffles on a pair of jeans. We don't have craft stores here...well...places like Michael's but they don't sell cloth. The only place I know of that sells cloth is Wal-Mart. (And it's the same ole stuff they've sold for years!) She matched Minnie perfectly! I have an idea...you should make her AG doll a matching Minnie dress too!!!

Perhaps the reason you dont have sponge with icing and sprinkes everywhere is why your wife is so gorgeously petite and skinny!!! :lmao:

Shawna

You have no idea how much food that lassie can eat! Its a gene she has passed on to our DD, I fear for the buffet's at Disney :scared1: when that pair start grazing.

I now have a few "missions" for my Disney trip and the cupcake has been added to the growing list.

Weather here is utterly foul and miserable here right now, high winds, driving rain and general gloom.....................bring on the Sunshine State!!!!!

I think I will start my Ferrell Festival on Monday with the "Wake up Ron Burgundy" film, "Talladega Nights" will be Tuesday's screening and finally the classic "Anchorman" will be shown on Wednesday. In relation to your "Check it Out" line I have to say whenever I see Fergie I think of Will on the tread machine in Blades of Glory singing "My Humps!"..................so very disturbing yet funny :rotfl:

Looking forward to your next instalment

Grumpy

I don't believe it - I went and posted under HIS siggy!!!!!!!!
D'OH!!!!!!
Need to do it again!

Hi Shawna,
Thought I should actually post now - DH has now left the building so it's my first chance to get near the DISboards.......I find this new development highly disturbing. :scared:

Anyway - love the TR so far - Chef Mickeys - so cute! :cutie: It's great to see them suddenly just 'get' it pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

As for the cupcake dilemma - I feel your pain :headache:  I fear had it been me, I wouldn't have been as strong, I would have given into tempation. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the compliment - but as DH said - it's genetic. I do eat like a horse, and not particularly healthily. Every now and again I throw in some salad or veg, but mainly my diet consists of the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup. DD has inherited this gene - except she's taken it to the next level - I really do fear for the buffets at WDW when we get going. :scared1: :scared:

Anywho - have you seen my ticker???? Under a week baybee!!!

PS. Stop talking about how you're cold in AZ. You've obviously never been to Scotland....at present we have torrential rain and gale force winds. No change there then. :rolleyes1

Shawna,

Loved the update! I now MUST have one of those cupcakes you described myself! I can't believe I have never, ever seen them. :confused3

I started to cry when I read about Mickey and Jake, but what a fabulous way to start a vacation.

I can't wait to hear more.

Sophia

Shawna that was a great update! I don't have any kids but I'm just one big ball of emotions 99% of the time so you had me tearing up when you were telling the story of your DS and Mickey. I too was scared of the characters when I was his age. I had Minnie at my bday party when I turned 4 and my mom and dad held me the entire time because I was petrified of her so I know his pain! :lmao: You're kids look adorable in their outfits and that's so cool how Minnie reacted to seeing Morgan's matching dress. You also just made me 200% sure I'm going to ride the monorail this time I'm at the World. I'm 21, have been there 4 times previously and NEVER rode the monorail...what is wrong with me?! :confused3 Well thanks to your description, I will be riding it in April. And I sincerely hope that by the end of this TR we here about you devouring one of those scrumptious cupcakes, you deserve it woman! :goodvibes

You know I'm kind of glad DL doesnt have those cupcakes. I've gained enough weight over the past 2 years. Could you imagine how much I would have gained if they had those puppies? :scared1:

The pictures with Mickey and Minnie will definitely be framed in our house somewhere. That was such a fun night.

Di has some serious genes then if she can pack all of that away! Gotta love her! Thats awesome!

The Blades of Glory "My Humps" video clip should be at the start of every exercise DVD out there in my opinion. Then maybe we would do them! :lmao: Such a classic.

lol! this so cool!

:welcome: and Thanks!

Di, I understand how distrubing the husband taking over the disboards is. When he discribed you bouncing up and down on the couch I thought If it wer eme I would throw my shoe at him. :lmao: You both are so darned funny its frighteningly entertaining. Ooohhh catch that Halloween word there? Wow!

I second guess my judgement by not jumping off the monorail everyday. I mean I'm with my family forever right but there was that one moment I had. :sad2: I should have gone for it. So what if the kids would have needed very expensive therapy to get over the monorail escape. I would have had my cupcake.

Your ticker is awesome! I cant wait for you guys to go and read your report. It will be so much fun!

psst I am cold and no I've never been to Scotland but dont hold that against me!!!

Hey Sophia,

Did you finish your report when I was gone? It hasnt popped up on the screen when I log in lately. I need to hunt it down. As well as some others. This morning will be the morning to track down those reports I'm missing!!! I know you were not done when I left.

You must get a cupcake when you are there next year! They are delicious!!!

Shawna that was a great update! I don't have any kids but I'm just one big ball of emotions 99% of the time so you had me tearing up when you were telling the story of your DS and Mickey. Awww thanks! I did not expect to cry like that so soon but it was such an emotional moment. Jeff teased me endlessly all night. Although truth be told I believe I saw him wipe away a tear and tell me he had a crumb on his face. :rolleyes1

You must ride the monorail. Its such a fun way to get around at WDW. Especially from MK to EPCOT. I love the transfer. It just seems so cool to have to transfer to another monorail.

The cupcake talk is making me want to go to Krispy Kreme before Jake's last football game this morning. Hmmmmm

Jake has his last Flag Football game this morning and they are letting him play QB. I'm so excited for him. He and one other boy are the smallest on the team so the other boy will be Center and Jake will be QB. How cute of the coaches to let the boys do that today. They will have a blast. :cool1:

After Morgan gets out of dance today she is having a gaggle of girls spend the night so I intend to lock myself in here and let them have the run of the house unsupervised. Ok maybe that is not quite accurate but most of the time they run around tumbling and talking about Zac Efron and dont want a lot from mom at this age except foot set out so I'll try to get another update tonight.

Let me just give you a preview:rolleyes1
