My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

Congrats Carissa!! :cheer2: That is awesome, you should be SO proud of yourself. 18 pounds is a huge accomplishment! Keep up the great work :thumbsup2

Congratulations!!!
What an amazing accomplishment!!

Congratulations! 18 pounds is wonderful.
Glad you downgraded, but it would be nice if it could come up with nicer terms. Whatever happened to pleasingly plump? That sounds better than obese, and you certainly never looked obese to me in any of your pictures! Silly wii!!! I fear what it would say to me! :scared1:

Thanks! :goodvibes At least my mii is getting slimmer! :rotfl:

:yay: Carissa! Great job on completing the program. And if you get up to 10 minute miles you'll be faster than me. I usually run around 11 minute miles (5.5 mph). If I do much faster than that I breathe harder than I like and get tired too fast. You will be so ready to start the half training come the fall:cool1:

I might find that going that fast has the same affect on me. We'll see. :thumbsup2

Congratulations Carissa!! For the 18 pounds and for finishing the program!!:banana:

I can't wait to hear about your half-marathon! :thumbsup2

CONGRATULATIONS CARISSA !!!

:woohoo::woohoo: WAY TO GO ! :woohoo::woohoo:

Yay Carissa!

(I just crossed that "obese" to "overweight" line too....it definitely is a milestone! Good for you!)

Carissa!

I am so happy for you!! Keep up the good work!!!! I can't wait to see what you do for training for the marathon, and of course hearing all your Disney plans!!

Where to begin?? :confused3

First off, I will admit that I haven't worked out or been on the treadmill since last Tuesday. :sad2: The past two days have been because of migraines, but I have no excuses for the other days except laziness. I will run tomorrow and if I don't, you all can get after me. :thumbsup2

Some of you may have noticed that Liz and I have been hashing out some plans for our January trip. I will get an itinerary posted soon.

Sadly, I have decided to cancel the California trip at this time. It was going to be difficult to squeeze in another trip. I also don't really want to be leaving my husband after spending almost the entire year apart. I'd rather spend the money and time taking a short family trip. We rented a cabin in West Virginia two Christmases ago and it was one of my favorite trips ever. I've been wanting to do something like that again.

So, the 1000 visitors that I alluded to are red worms that will be arriving this week. I have decided to begin vermicomposting. Last week I got the bin all set up and now we just wait for our new friends to arrive. I think it will be a great learning experience for the boys.

And the 1 of the 1,001? Well, since I guess I didn't think my life was crazy enough, we've decided to finally add a dog to our family. :scared1: A Miniature Schnauzer puppy to be exact. Chuck and I have wanted a dog for a long, long time, but we were never in a great place to get one. I figure the boys are all at a perfect age and with us homeschooling, we're home all of the time, which will help with training him.

Here is his first picture:

And this is him at 5 weeks:

We will be bringing him home in 2 - 3 weeks. Still working on a name so any suggestions are welcome!

How cool! I've thought about vermicomposting, but didn't want to order a whole pack of 1,000 worms. It sounds like they multiply pretty quickly and you could just start with a few. We have a big Mantis composting double-bin that you can crank to turn.

Cute puppy! A name? Hmmmmm. :scratchin

Actually, you need about 1,000 to be able to eat through the amount of scraps a smaller family would produce during a week. And yes, they multiply quickly, but unless you transfer a bunch of the worms to another bin, they will actually maintain their population. Some will die off because their castings are toxic to other worms and when you take out the castings, the cocoons or baby worms that are in them will not survive in the garden or plants you add them to. If you're not increasing food to the bin, then the population will stay around the perfect size (this is from everything I have read, not experience of course).

The puppy is adorable! What a great addition to the family! :thumbsup2

Thanks! We're very excited. :goodvibes

Well, I'm sort of girly-girly in the aspect of worms and such things, so as far as the worms go .... :sad2:.......................

BUT, the puppy is adorable! How could you not fall in love with him? :lovestruc My neighbor's girlfriend had the same dog and his name was Baxter. :)

First, congradulations with finishing the program.

What an adorable dog. I just read a great book, and the dog in the book was much loved and they called him "Lump" or Lumpy. Dumb name, but if fit the dog in the book.
