My Lord, Stitch's Great Escape ride stinks!

We feel in love with Skippy from Alien Encounter.
The best thing I can say about the new Stitch ride is that Skippy is not transported as he was in Alien.

I actually liked this more than the Alien Encounter one, I thought it was cute!

This was our first trip to Disney and we had a marvelous time and I can honestly say that this ride or show was the only one that left us looking at each other and saying `what was that all about`? It was the only ride where I sat there and said to myself `Let this be over`.... And the worst part is that both my sister and I have problems with our shoulders due to work related injuries and the harness that squeezes down on your shoulders hurt alot.....

Our kids did not enjoy the ride at all, during the dark part it wasn`t clear what happened, just that something happened. I was very disappointed with this ride.

It stunk! We were SO looking forward to this ride, especially my 8 year old. I tried going in with a positive attitude but it lacked a good story and it had an anti-climatic ending. My 5 year old insisted on going on even though I warned her it would be loud & dark. I did NOT know you get wet so I couldn't warn her about that so she screamed the whole time.

It needs improvement. We are a family that LOVES Stitch but were sorely disappointed.

When I saw the title of this post I took it to mean 'stinks' - literally! That chili cheese dog (or whatever it is) smell is awful. I know I'm exagerating, but it seems like that smell stuck to me like glue for hours. It haunted my nostrils all day! Yucky!

Things I liked about Stitch: The large Stitch that comes out in the cylinder is impressive. It's better than the character itself signing autographs out front. That thing is huge. It's the only thing truly impressive about the show.

A trick that I did on AE and on Stitch is this. When you pull the thing over your head, don't pull it as far down as you can (lean up if you need to). Also, when it starts to adjust in the beginning, going down toward your shoulders, put your hands inside about 4-6 inches above your shoulders (palms down) and push upwards on it firmly as it's coming down (make it think you're taller and bigger!) so that it's not resting directly on your shoulders and it won't hurt when Stitch is 'jumping' on you. This worked for me! You do miss some of the more subtle effect but you don't walk out with sore shoulders, right?

I think that Stitch is such a great fun character that 'it' deserves a great attraction!

I did exactly what you did with the harness. This is not a 'ride' so there is no safety reason for the harness so it does *not* have to be tight against your shoulders. On an upside down coaster, yeah, on Stitch, no. I made sure there were a couple inches of leeway and it didn't hurt at all when the harness went up and down.

And man did that chili dog scent stink! :crazy2: I don't even mind the smell of a real chili dog, but that manufactured smell was the worst. I wouldn't go back on this ride just so that I can avoid that odor.

I was a huge fan of Alien encounter. I took DD(6yo)on this Stitch ride in Nov. and she even thought it stunk! There was no point to it! It ended weird for me too. Everyone was looking around saying that's it??!! I just have one question, WHY???!! Why did they do this to a perfectly good attraction. I would understand if they wanted to do away with AE all together and put something totally new in it's place. But, not this lame vaersion! If they were trying to make it family friendly, they should've done away with the times of total darkness. There were so many kids screaming and crying from that. DD thankfully doesn't scare easily. We will never ride it again

This ride was a HUGE disappointment. We were walking out thinking....
"that's it". What was with the harnesses? Pretty lame! They could have done sooooo much more!

However, I can see where little kids that LOVE stitch would like this ride.

Why did they change it?... because you had people whine and complain it was too scary. They changed it and people still say it is too scary. They should have left it alone. As I posted on another thread, I hate when people think EVERY ride a WDW needs to be kid friendly. Teens and Adults pay admission too. In fact, we pay alot more. I will get off my soapbox now.

I HATE Stitch, like I said and won't be doing it again unless they make changes to it...but I did like AE. I didn't feel they had to change it at all. Of course Disney should and does have rides for adults or older kids.

I wish they either left well enough alone or changed it to something just as great, but IMHO, they didn't...it's inferior.

It was utterly boring and pointless, no real story.

We are no longer compelled by the offerings.
Comments from my DD6:

"I feel like I'm being punished during the entire show. It's so baaaaad and pointless"

"please don't take me watch Stitch again"

'tis a good thing we only waited about 5 minutes for the ride (it was at the beginning of MVMCP on Dec 2 when most people were too busy lining up for the free photos)

and the clincher is:

"I'm bored at Disney, can we go home now?" (this happened 3 days before we left for home)

I must admit that I am a big Stitch fan and I was dissapointed with the ride too, although my favourite character was the main attraction it was still just a nicer version of alien encounter. I am pleased that Skippy was still there and that he wasn';t burnt like before but I think that they would have had much more sucess with a Stitch based ride along the lines of Buzz Lightyear or something.

I shall deffinatley be emailing guest communications on this on.

I agree, the Stitch ride is lame. My DD (just 6) was scared - and she's a big Stitch movie fan. My 9 year old DS was bored. Neither wanted to go on the ride a second time, even when there was no line and it was a walk on. Disney should do better.

I love Stitch- the character- when I went on the ride I went in with the mindset that hopefully it wouldn't be quite as awful as the reviews for it. Well, SGE is a total waste of space. Hopefully they'll just gut the building and try to come up with something, anything, better than SGE. What a disappointment :guilty:

Bring back Alien Encounter!!! We went on/in Stitch 12/9 and it was terrible!!
No thrill! Bad special effects. After all of that time between the shutdown of
AE and the start of Stitch it's a terrible product delivery. JMO

Amen!

Alien Encounter was the best attraction in Walt Disney World history, IMO. Just my opinion, but I will always feel that way. What a shame we have to settle with THIS for a replacement.
