My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

omg! We were there from 6/26-6/30 so maybe the same time as you - too funny! We had fun at Dollywood (though its not Disney). Also did the Dixie Stampede and went whitewater rafting. It was a short but good trip.

As far as CSR - we didn't have any problems at all with our room. Here's some pixie dust that you get the same. pixiedust: Keep trying back for WL though if that is what you really want - ya never know! :goodvibes

It was June 28th that we were in Pigeon Forge. Glad you had fun. Dollywood is okay but we save our dollars for Disney ;) . I'm going to keep checking on WL if not I'll just hope for the best with CSR. I know it will probably be fine. Figures though they are refurbing the rooms at CSR starting in October.

We almost went golfing that night too! That was the day we went rafting during the day and Sam had been bugging me to go mini-golfing that night. We were all set to go but ended up getting side tracked at the hotel with the rest of the family. That would have been funny if we ended up at the same place as you. :)

Hey Nichole!

I am still subbed to your TR and saw that you were nervous about reviews of CSR that you read on Trip Advisor. I just wanted to let you know that those reports should really be taken with a grain of salt. We have read many reviews that were negative and then went and had NO PROBLEM! Places like the Marriott Ocean Club in Aruba and the Hotel Del Coronado in California. I would put more stock in the DIS reviews! Just my 2 cents!:goodvibes I hope all is well with you guys!:thumbsup2

That would have been funny. Only there are 1000 minigolf places in Pigeon Forge. It's very touristy, isn't it? AT least here is pelnty to do there though :) .

I'm nervous about the rooms. The resort looks beautiful but even a few Dissers this week said they had a rather dirty room  and they are in need of rehab badly and it will start in October and take a year to complete. I can't decide if I should request cabana's or Castitas section. I have to Pm you because i have a question for you.

Just chiming in on how weird it is that the two of you (Michelle and Nichole) were in Pigeon Forge at the same time!!! :lmao:

You should have hooked up for a little mini-DIS meet!

I'm thinking of staying at Yacht or Beach for 5-6 nights of our October stay. I have never stayed at either of these so have no clue which is better or nicer. Also this would be a split stay with a value resort for the first 2-3 nights. Do you all think this is worth doing? Or should I just stick with CSR for the entire stay and keep costs down.

The split stay would be $600-800 more depending on if we stay 5 or 6 nights at BC/YC. I have to say I hate the idea of packing up and moving but love the idea of BC/YC. Also my friends are staying there which is a plus. DH I'm sure would rather save the money but can be easily persuaded.

Another option would be to stay at AKL in a poolview room for the entire stay for $600 more than CSR. DH doesn't like AKL at all :sad2: . WL which we all like only has courtyard Bunkbed and it's lots of $$$ or we would be definately staying there. Decisions, decisions :sad2: , I'm not good at making them :lmao: unless it's the full week at Poly which is way over budget this
year.

here are my options, please vote :)

1 Split stay at Value 2 nights with 6 nights at BC/YC
2 CSR all 8 nights and save $$
3 AKL poolview all 8 nights nights

I tend to think Split Stays are a pain, having to switch rooms and all that jazz. I would say AKL but since your DH doesn't like it that doesn't make sense to me. So I would do CSR and save the money, in this economy any money saved is a good thing and then maybe you can get in a little extra shopping.

I think my DD was thinking the same thing about the extra $$$ for shopping. But now I read the beach/Yacht club thread and the pics are great :scratchin .

That's tough Nichole. :headache: But I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick choice #1. I don't think transferring is too much fun either, and I'm ALL ABOUT saving $, HOWEVER, I think if you had the chance to be at Beach Club/Yacht Club (a place you know you AND Tom would be happy with) AND be with your friends, then I would do it! I think the kids will have a blast together and it might make Tom have more fun too! Isn't CSR going to be doing some partial renovations then? I thought I read that.

Just my 2 cents. :goodvibes You will have a good time no matter what! :thumbsup2

Thanks Sara,
Yes CSR is going to start renovating their rooms. Section by section though and it will take a year to complete. We don't plan to spend every minute with our friends but it would great for the kids to have pool time, as MNSSHP, the fireworks cruise and the waterparks together. I probably have to skip a year at Disney to get Tom to agree to stay at Yacht/ Beach.

Hey Nichole! Tough choice. I've never considered switching resorts thinking it would be a pain but after reading all these tr's - so many people do it and don't have a problem. One I read they switched twice during their trip. I say go for option #1 - would you stay at Pop for the value (I know your kids enjoyed it there). I haven't stayed at either BC or YC but have heard great things. And to be near your friends would be so much fun!

Let us know what you decide. :goodvibes

:) Hey -- How was your trip to NJ? I never made it to the beach or I would have called you. The weather was not that great. I hope you had some nice weather.

Now -- about what to do with your trip. Don'r forgo a year at Disney just to stay at the BC/YC... I have stayed at the YC and yes, it was awesome, but I would rather stay at CSR to ensure that I was getting more than one trip a year.

I will be staying at CSR in November (I cannot use my DVR b/c I am out of points for 08), and I absolutely love it there. Just request the cabana rooms. They are pretty close to everything. The kids will really like the jaquar pool

Good luck with whatever you decide...

That option gets my vote. IMO, having to pack up and unpack again at the YC or BC would make the packing all well worth it. Just strategically pack for the first two nights with clothing and things that you'll only need for those two days. Then you can completely unpack after you move.

I love those resorts and would do absolutely anything to stay over there. :worship:

I guess we would stay at Pop the first 2 nights because the kids love it there. I'm leaning towards the split but Tom will probably rain on my parade as soon as he gets home. If WL opens up in a regular room without bunkneds then I'm defintely going to book there. Thanks :goodvibes .

Our trip was not that good :sad2: and the weather was pretty rainy. It was nice to visit with family and friends but we didn't get to anything we planned to with the kids. Also spent wayy to much time staying with people which is not fun IMO. Should have saved the money from our NJ trip and went to Poly again this year instead :lmao: .

Thanks for reassuring me about CSR. I already requested Cabana's 9 but as long as I don't get rancho's and my room is clean then I will be fine. The pool there does look really nice and not crowded either. now if I could just make up my mind :rolleyes1 , I never have this problem when I book Poly because I know I love it there. Too bad I don't have a code for this year.

Good advice. I would just pack a bag just for the 2 days, and also looks like we might be driving so we will have our car. Although I'm not 100% on that since we joined Southwest rapid rewards. Which do you like better Yacht or Beach? I'm lenaing towards beach since that is where my friends are staying. Thanks for posting.

I've yet to stay at Yacht but have always wanted to. The decor is just my style. If you stay at Beach, though you'll be that much closer to the Marketplace.

Hey Nichole,

I guess I am in the minority here, but I am all about saving money. So I would stick with CSR... However, with that said.. I have always wanted to try the Beach club... looks so cool... I can see why you are having such a difficult time making the decision... I guess I am not much help here! haha..
Good luck!

Hi Kaysmommie

:surfweb: Sitting here reading your trippie in the UK, haven't been to Disney for 16 years now planning our trip for MAy next year. I see in your report that you met the princesses, where exactly in the Magic Kingdom did you meet them, as my dd who will also be 8 by the time we travel loves the princesses, but I didn't really want to do the character meal at epcot just to meet them as I didn't like the food reports.

Thanks, That is another reason I was leaning towards beach Club. I just have to hope to get a full balcony.

Thanks, I'm still on the fence but I don't want to wait too long and then there will no rooms at any deluxes. Then again the way things are with the economy maybe i should stick with CSR. :confused3 I want to have a nice vacation though and beach club looks great!!

Hi Sally and :welcome: to the DIS!!
There is a store in Toontown and inside it is Toontown Hall of Fame. This is where you get online to meet Disney characters. For Princesses I would suggest getting there early like 10am for the shortest lines. To meet Ariel you need to get in line at Ariels's Grotto in Fantasyland also good to go early in the day because that line is usually 45 mintues throughout the day. Ariel's Grotto is behind Dumbo.

If you want to meet Princesses there are other Princess meals. Cinderella's Royal Table is good but expensive but we usally meet at least 5 Princesses at this meal. If you wanted to do a meal at the one in Epcot, the breakfast is excellent. Not sure if I would do the lunch or dinner there either :scared: . ANother choice would be 1900 Park fare at Grand Floridian for dinner thay have Cinderell'a gala feast. It's Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Stepsisters and Evil Stepmother. It's lots of fun though and the characters dance with the kids and everything. I think breakfast at PSB in Epcot is the best one though. In October we met Belle, Jasmine ,Mulan, Snow White, and Aurora. breakfast is just regular breakfast and really good I promise. If you have any questions just ask or PM me.

Hi Mo :) ,
Thomas is doing great! I'm doing much better too. Thanks for asking. He has his post OP check up next Tuesday. I'm so relieved that it was just a Dermoid cyst causing his neck lump and thankfully nothing Malignant. We have been just enjoying the summer. NJ was kind of a disaster because we spent the whole time visting family :headache: and not much else.

Anyway I have read some of your Wieniefest pretrip for August. You are all going to have so much fun! Your trip is so close now  . DO you think your going to write your own trippie?

Glad to hear you are all doing so well:thumbsup2

yes, my trip in only a month away:cool1: My niece is so excited. As far wienifest I am so excited to meet them in person. You should stop by the Focker thread on the CB.

I do want to write a TR, for nothing else so Kelly can look back and read it when she is older, I can save it in Word.

Only 1 more month :yay: , should be alot of fun with your niece. How old is Kelly? Looking forward to reading your trippie because your trip reports are so honest but funny too. Can't wait to hear about BCV since we are staying there too in October for 6 nights. I have to check out the focker thread.
