My letter to VMK regarding the banning of several community leaders today.

I have to say that it is very hard to help people with out using numbers! I always get ask how many credit do you get so on and so forth. I sit here and try to find a way to give them an anwser with out numbers and my mind draw out a blank.... yet we are community leaders but we can't help! has yet community leaders have help with an event or got any recoginition from the staff? Since we are there to help why can we have a special dictionary with numbers so we can actually help people? I sit at my computer and hate when i am in a room full of guest, who i know are going to ask what every newbie ask about every single thing, and i sit there and try to explain something and that red blinking of a word comes up and they don't know what i am staying and trying to think of all the synoms i can for the word. It bothers me that past community leaders get boot and fire for doing their job.

p.s. i think you should send that letter through the help button than email and put in the vmk staff under user name that bother me thing. Actually someone will read it!

And this thread is back. And I've tried so hard to repress that memory! Anyways, the moral of those few days were to use word subsitutions very infrequently and if you do get a warning about it from the staff, DO NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE use another word subsitution for a couple of hours. Big Mickey was watching me and came down REALLY hard.

Thank you for that beautifully written letter. Another thing that just gets me is the constant "will you be my girl friend" or " are you taken". Nothing is done about any of this. Sometimes I cant go to any room without being asked this. It drives me crazy!!
One other point is the pet thing. I have seen people commanding others to sit, stay and come here. This is acceptable?? But we cant say 15 credits.
Or you have to win 10 times on all three levels.
One more thing is the rooms titled "doctors office" what is this leading to?

I think that they have limited our words for too long. For example, on the Pirates game, you cannot see the whole screen, so it would be nice if we could tell our remaining teammates how many people they are up against.
Also, on anyone's trivia games, you cannot say certain movie names, so it makes it harder for us to come up with questions that actually can be fully answered. This has become a pain for me, especially, since I am starting room touring through my nine rooms (1 pay for access to Mickey's Comedy Show) and i cannot tell them how many rooms I have, so some people have accidentally left during the tour. I know that this program was to be made kid-safe, but they went so far overboard with blocking words that it is hard to even type a complete sentence without using substitute words.

Please remember that this is just my take on things.

Very well writen letter Shiregirl. i TOTALLY agree with everything you and others have said and i think that banning words from the dictonary is getting totally over the top!! since reading your letter and other peoples posts i have decided to start suggesting words to the vmk dictonary (eg. word) and if enough people do this then they might start to relax on the word banning (possibly). i came so close to leaving vmk forever last night because i got so annoyed at the word banning and the ### sign!!!!!!!

I have a quest for everyone. Who can come up with a good way for VMK to allow us to say numbers or words for numbers, in use for things like what was mentioned in the letter (i.e., neccessary for game play, guest room games rules, etc). But also make it impossible to give out phone numbers, etc? maybe they can set it up so that we can only say 1-3 numbers in a given amount of time, or since they have a bot or whatever that can detect words used to give out personal info (hence the warning box), maybe they can detect if someone is trying to give a phone number or age and warn us that that will cause a lifetime ban? A big warning on the main page, and to new members, that a lifetime ban WILL occur if you try to give out this personal info would probably keep people from doing it, but you never know. And since we all know how to "dance around the dictionary", I'm sure someone will come up with a way to give out their personal info if they want to (I'm talking like phone numbers) by giving 1 or 2 digits at a time over a period of time.

So, any ideas of how VMK can allow us to say numbers for neccessary game info, but still keep kids safe and protect personal info? This is something I really have to think about. Maybe if we come up with a fool-proof method, we can all suggest it to the black hole, and if it's good.....you never know!

Very simple, vmk could use codes like %%p for pirates or %%f for fireworks:
%%P could say "You get 15 points per win and 40 points every ten wins"
%%F could say "To win fireworks magic you have to score over 240,000 and not win the game"

I'm sure they could come up with some interesting codes like this to use.

yes, but how is anyone going to know what they mean? Plus besides answering questions about game points, what about player-created game rules like "only six people at a time" or things like "I'll trade 5 barrels...." That is where I find a problem with the number thing.
