My DS has a "lovey" a cat that my mom gave him when he was born. It has been everywhere! its so raggedy, but he MUST sleep with it. So to Disney it will go (in 7 days) and I am so worried that it will get lost. We have only had 1 scare at the Grocery Store, but found him right away. He knows that Kitty has to stay in the room and cant go to the parks! Those are great tips.. dog tags, and putting in in luggage whne we leave! Thanks
I hope you find her lovey! She (and you) must be so upset. I know we would be!
My DD has a completely matted, scrawny dog! that she got on her first birthday and it has been everywhere also except Italy-fear of losing it over-rode desire to take it, that and being 15 at the time! We always did the put it inside and zipped suitcase in the AM so it didn't go to the laundry accidentally. It always rides in her personal carry-on and if she checks once to make sure he is still in there she must check 15 times. We drove back at Christmas this year and everytime we got out and back into the car there had to be a physical check to make sure Max didn't some how crawl out of the back pack and leave the car! That would make him pretty peppy for 17.
As she packs for college this Fall I'm sure Max will be the first or last thing that gets packed, but it won't be left behind that I'm sure of.
Good luck and maybe although it won't be the same maybe the two of you can find a nice soft animal to help comfort her and it could become her companion. It is a bit easier to take a stuffed animal to camp and college!
It wasn't even a kid print, just black with jewel tone stripes. My dear mother had the foresight to buy two sets of pillowcases and he would happily snuggle with any of the 4. My niece's lovey was one of those ubiquitous kinda fuzzy white, blue, pink and yellow blankets (20+ years ago) and although her mother had two and they looked exactly alike to us, my niece preferred one and the little stinker could actually tell the difference between the two.

I bought DD another very soft, cute pillow just a little bit bigger than lumpy (hoping she might put lumpy up for safe keeping). She loved the new pillow, but said she still was NOT giving up lumpy. She doesn't care if anyone laughs at her...she said she will carry it to college if she has to! LOL.
