My laptop was stolen, will miss you on vmk

Hi everyone!

Just tonight, my laptop, my wife's wedding ring, and a ring she gave me as an anniversary present were stolen from our apartment.

Because I don't have a laptop anymore (and I still owe money on the thing too), I will not be able to see you all in vmk for a while. I may be able to log in and do a few things, but my desktop computer is extremely old and too slow for most of vmk. I will miss hanging out with you on there but will try to say hi from time to time if I can get on somewhere. I will especially miss debsangels, dancinangel, princesspluto, thewolf, missbelle, and spaceboyxalp - you are all the ones I hung out with the most. I was just starting to really have fun with other dis members in central plaza too!

I am so sad right now. Maybe I will be able to get another laptop (I use it to teach my classes at school with powerpoint presentations and I also lost student's grades! - bet they will be happy, lol). Sigh. No renter's insurance either!

Anyway, wish me luck! And it's been wonderful meeting you all on vmk.

Ditto to what everyone said. So very sorry this happened to you. Glad you are ok though.

Have you looked into renters Insurance? I klnow it will not help this time but if, God Forgive, their is a next time. Here it is really inexpensive. It is the Landlord coverage that is crazy and they will not even cover anything that is not part of the house, apt etc.

Hopefully the Police have an idea who is doing this and will recover your items.

What a total bummer! As much as I love my laptop, I think I would be more bummed about my wedding band, sentimental gal that I am! And as I teach too, I would hate to lose records, plans, etc. Good luck to you - I hope you are able to replace your lost items soon.

I am so sorry this happened to you. The same happened to us several years ago, they didn't take much in electronics because all of our units were (still are) so old. All my good jewelry was taken,though.
But it was that awful feeling of violation that was so hard to shake. I hope things start looking up for you sooner rather than later. I am so, so sorry that you had to endure this awful event!

I think they may have thought that one of us was home since we keep the bedroom door closed. Nothing in the bedroom was disturbed. Also, it looks like they knew what to take since they left watches and jewelry right next to the ones they stole (only took the most valuable three single items we had). And I think it was one person - no video game systems, dvd player, other cheper jewelry was taken. I'm pretty sure whoever did it was experienced at theft.

So sorry to hear the bad news. But I would not let your wife see the post cause a laptop can be replaced and it a sence the rings can. But you can not replace the meaning of the wedding ring a replacement is not the same. As a female speaking. To me it is the symbol of our marriage day can't replace that. Though I am so glad you were not physical hurt. So that you had no insurance. Maybe somehow they will find the thief though i know it is slim. So Sorry again.

Do the police have any idea who took the stuff?

Were there any witnesses?

I would say we will miss seeing you around but I am sure you already knew that and we will hope to see you back up and running soon.

BTW: you may well be able to get VMK up on your old desktop. Just strip it out of non essential stuff and use you task manager to close as many non useful processes running as possible and you may well find you can get on with only a bit of lag.
