My kid met Guy Fieri

My kid met Guy Fieri (from Food Network) yesterday.
And he was a complete jerk.

One kid with them asked for a photo, (only kid to actually know who he was) he said sure. Kid asked politely, said thank you. And then Guy Feiri lectured him front of the other kids on how he is old enough to have manners, he should be grateful etc.
The kids were totally confused because they heard their friend say please and thank you.
Then he stormed off.
I imagine he didn't hear the kid, but still...

I grew up in "the Hamptons" and was familiar with a lot of jerky B list stars, but I was kind of surprised especially because of his "regular guy " persona .
My kid is unimpressed by "stars" already in general, and had no idea who he was, so she didn't care but felt bad for the boy who was humiliated.
Any stars surprise you with their behavior? ( Good or bad)

I've always thought he is ridiculously over-affected. And his restaurant in Times Square is not good at all, at least IMHO...

Not a surprise, since I'd heard stories, but Chevy Chase was a jerk.

Conversely I expected Tyra Banks to be a diva but she was so nice!

Sorry to hear that. He surely did not seem like he would act that way with kids. I am not impressed with meeting famous people. I know enough where I live.

Never met the man, but have read several "he's a total jerk" things about him on the net.

I'm trying to remember who all I've met. Mostly rock stars. Lots of rock stars. I met Korn when they were touring in support of their first album. Super nice guys! Talked for hours. I've met many more but probably nobody anyone on here would care about. No major letdowns or surprises. Marilyn Manson was unimpressive, I guess.

Oh, I've met several comedians, too. Christopher Titus (Fox's Titus) and Kevin Pollak (Usual Suspects, A Few Good Men) are probably the biggest names. Both very cordial.

Nope no huge jerks but Pink once ran over DHs foot with her stroller at FAO in NY one visit, she was lovely and very down to earth

He doesn't have anything to do now with the Johnny Garlic's and Tex Wasbi places. It's just a few outlets in Vegas as far as I can tell.

I met George Steinbrenner while having breakfast in a Denny's once. Really nice guy which was surprising given his reputation. There were less than 10 people in the whole place and most didn't recognize him. We sat one seat away from each other on barstools. We shared mostly small talk for the ~15 minutes our meals overlapped.

Also Alec Baldwin. Same thing, nice guy.

Yes, I've had the same experience with athletes- the kids have swam with and talked with a lot of Olympians and they are just as interested in the kids" swim experiences as the kids are with theirs. Very encouraging and sweet.
