My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

WI this morning was 170.0! :sad2: Definitely was mad at myself for my transgressions. But, I started the new week off much better than I ended the last week. I ate right and I drank more water. I didn't exercise, but that was by choice. With swim practice at dinner time now, I feel like I am constantly scrambling to get the kids "something" to eat before practice and then figuring out what to have for dinner after practice. This morning instead of my walk, I decided I really needed to spend some time getting more organized and under control so that the rest of my life is not quite so crazy. I spent some time on the computer and planned out a menu for the entire week, including healthy & filling afternoon snacks. Then I made a complete grocery list and went shopping. I want to do this for about 4 weeks worth of menu's. In theory, I should be able to just "print and go" for any given week. We'll see how that actually works out ...

DD11 brought Krispy Kreme doughnuts to swim practice today (birthday tradition) and I didn't eat a single one!! There are still 6-7 leftover, but I am going to let the kids eat them for breakfast and go to school with a sugar high (another "bad mommy" award winning moment  )

Food:
9a - grapefruit, 1c FF vanilla yogurt
11:45a - 1c LF split pea soup, 10 mini rice cakes, 10 grape tomatoes
3:10p - LF LC cheese wedge, 7 triscuits, apple
7:20p - 1 serving Gingersnap stew (yummy!), 1 slice sourdough bread, 2c salad w/ tomato & cucumber, 2T goddess dressing, 12oz skim milk
Resisted: BBQ potato chips, Krispy Kreme doughnuts

Thanks everyone for making me feel better about my bad eating weekend. I appreciate you all. :grouphug:

Amy, CJK, Tracy, Marie: MIL is not my favorite person and the feeling is generally mutual... on Christmas monring, I'll start drinking mimosa's around 8am ... :rolleyes1

Amy: I kept a couple of bags of Moose Munch for Family movie nights

Jane, Marie: :rotfl2: I sold DD11 on what a great present this would be, because I really wanted passes for ME! The SoCal DL passes are a good deal if you go +3 times a year. Since we are going for 2 days this weekend for her birthday celebration, I was sure I could find at least 1 more day in the next year to go up ... :rolleyes1 We are only an hour away, we can just zip up for an afternoon ... We can go up to see the Christmas decorations ... :rotfl2: There are some benefits to living in a vacation destination. :teeth:

Marie: The kids drive me crazy sometimes (like now - DD12 is staring into space aka doing her homework!! Helllooo - just get it done!!!), but generally they are pretty good kids. I think the "extra credit" for science was a pretty good incentive too...

Way to go on resisting those Krispie Kreme donuts!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: They must be my biggest weakness! It really sounds like you're back on track and that determination is coming through. Here's to a terrific weekend ahead!

Hi Anna,

Just got caught up with you!!! Whew reminder to never get behind again!!! LOL I am sure that it will take me forever to get caught up on everyone!

First Happy (late) Birthday to your DD!

Second, congrats on passing the donuts!!! We used to get Krispie Kremes every Wednesday here at work and it was always easy to pass those up...I am not a fan. But now we are getting Lamar's and well I am going to need some of your will power! Those are the best!!!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better....I think that icky stuff is going around. I caught it in WDW and then I get back to work and everyone has it!

I am sure that once you get into a routine with the kids your life will slow down! For being so incredibly busy you are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!!!

I also wanted to add my two cents about WDW dining as we did just get back. We went to Beachs n cream and it was good. I don't really know what the big ta da was about it though. The food was good, but the ice cream was even better. We also went to San Angel Inn and I liked it. I was not going to order anything for fear that I would not like it. Everything was beef and I don't eat beef, but they were able to subsitute chicken. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. We also went to Whispering Canyon and that was pretty good too. I enjoyed that one as well!!!

Keep up the good work! You are doing a great job!

Happy Tuesday :)

Hi Anna~

Way to go resisting those Krispy Kremes! That is one of my weaknesses because it seems like I can't eat just one. ;)

You are doing a great job getting back on track! :cheer2: Keep up the good work! :Pinkbounc

Have a great Tuesday! :sunny:

That's great that you are planning out your menus in advance. I always have my weekly dinners planned. DS even knows where my list is and looks at it to see what we are having. I do the crockpot at least once a week. It really is a time saver! Just throw a chunk-o-meat in there with some spices and veggies and you are set.

Keep it up, that scale will go down again! We all need to get a grip before the holiday season starts! :teeth:

Hi Anna! I love the meal-planning and printing shopping list idea. Is there any way I can see an example of yours? I need to get myself into a more organized place...and that sounds like a GREAT place to start for me!

We all have our bad weekends, so no need to feel bad about it. You're back on track, and ready to go! You're doing great, girl! :cheer2:

:dogdance: Great idea planning your meals ahead. It really helps. I did that when I was using the EFL book, & it worked great. Once I planned a month's worth of recipes it was super easy to do the shopping list. Sometimes, I'd keep the list the same - other times make changes. I also put on my list the page # the recipe came from so I could access it without fumbling around when I got home with my food. Additionally, I didn't have any room to cheat!

Have fun on your Disney trips. Can you do both parks with the pass? How's the California Adventure park? It looks like a blast.

Darn kids left 4 doughnuts in the box this morning. I had a bad case of the munchies for several hours in the middle of the day and about 1200 calories in 4 hours. Only ate one doughnut, but did eat a bunch of other stuff too. :sad2: This is after I was so jazzed that the scale went back down to 167 this morning. I had to run a bunch of errands this morning while DD3 was at preschool, but I did sqeeze in a walk (33 minutes) waiting for the Mall to open. Tomorrow I am thinking of taking DD3 either to the zoo again or maybe SeaWorld. Better exercise at the zoo, though.

In other news, I sent my ADR requests off to the travel agent and booked flights for my March trip using FF #'s!! I still haven't cancelled the May Europe trip, but I will soon...

Food:
8:00a - grapefruit, 1c Cheerios, 12oz skim milk
11:00a- 1.2oz almond pack
11:15a - Krispy Kreme
11:45a - 1.5c Gingersnap stew, 1/2 slice sourdough bread
2:15p - granola bar
2:45p - 2 graham crackers, 12oz skim milk
6:00p - burrito: LF tortilla, 1/4c gr turkey, 1/3c LF beans, 1.5T grated cheddar, 1/4c tomato, 1/2T LF sour cream, onions; another "burrito" without the tortilla, 12oz skim milk - I was hungry

CJK, Tracy, Jaime - I love doughnuts and KK are my fav. I did have one today, but just one.

Jaime - great to have you back!! Glad to get another good review for San Angel. I have had several people highly recommend Whispering Canyon too. I wish we had more time at WDW, just to eat! :teeth:

Amy - I am definitely feeling calmer and more in control with the eating part of my life "planned". Now I just need to stick to the plan :rolleyes1 The crockpot really is so easy. I need to make sure it is on the menu at least once a week too.

Kim - My menu and shopping list are part of a word doc. I'll see if I can email it to you.

Jane - My goal is to have a whole month of menus & shopping lists. I am hoping it will help keep me on track and remove "cheat" opportunities. Yes, with the annual pass you can go to both parks. DCA has some really neat rides including CA Soarin' and a great roller coaster (CA Screamin') and a nasty scary ferris wheel thing! There is also a great Alladin stage show. DCA is a lot smaller than DL and has shorter hours generally. The two parks are right next to each other though and it is easy to go to DL first thing in the morning, then move over to DCA when it opens and end up back at DL for the fireworks. The "Remember" fireworks for the 50th anniversary are truly phenomonal! :wizard:

Anna, the meal planning thing is a wonderful idea. That should help get that scale down in no time. Its crazy that life is so hectic we don't have time to do the bare necessities! Don't worry about the scale, its a number and a reminder to do what needs to be done, which you are already doing! And way to go resisting the Krispy Kremes. I love/hate those things!

All the Krispy Kremes in AZ closed when they filed for bankruptcy, so no more temptation there! I am fine as long as they are not in my face. I would have caved too!

So now that you got all the junk eating out of your system, I think you will get right back on track today. You know you are in a good place when you feel guilty for eating a donut! :thumbsup2

I love the ferris wheel at DCA! We might go there this summer for a long weekend. It's been 2 years since we've gone - we have to try out the Tower of Terror!

That's great that you are able to use your FF miles for your airfare. I am hoping with all this business travel coming up that I will be able to do the same for our Christmas '07 trip to WDW!

Hi Anna
Dont worry about the binge, i'm sure it will come off quickly :)
Shame you have to cancel you May trip, but at least you have the other one to look forward to & plan for :)
Have a great week
Tracey

Don't worry about the donut, one never killed anybody and I should know! I think I was in the process of posting that it was great you had resisted them the other day when you were posting you had one that morning! I still stand by my praise however since resisting one day and only having one the next day is pretty darn good in my book! Also good job getting the 33 minute walk in waiting for the mall to open. That is really some good use of time. I hope you got to go to the zoo today! Hang in there, we aren't perfect and are never going to be but we are sure making good progress!

I did ok today until about 5:30p. DD3 fell asleep in the car on the way to swim practice so instead of taking a walk during practice (if I had tried to move her to the stroller she would wake up and be REALLY cranky), I sat in the car and read a book. :cloud9: However, the PB pretzels I had brought as a "stroller snack" for DD kept calling my name, over and over again! :sad2:

Didn't make it to the zoo or Seaworld. I did walk with neighbor for 60 minutes. Also I had to run a couple of errands. The two stores were 2 blocks away so I parked at one and instead of driving to the other (like I normally would do!) I put DD in the stroller and we walk - 12 minutes each way!

Food:
crazy morning, no breakfast
10:00 - 2 slices blueberry crumble toast w/ 1/2T Almond Butter
12:00 - burrito: tortilla, 1/4c gr turkey, 1/2c beans, 1 whole tomato (chopped), 1T grated cheddar, onion
3:00p - grapefruit
4:30p - cheese stick, 1/2c blueberries
5:30p - 17 PB pretzels :sad2:
7:15p - 1c whole wheat pasta w/ marinara sauce, 2c salad w/ cucumber & tomato, 1T Goddess dressing, 12oz skim milk
Total Cal: 1523, Fat: 48g, Carb: 209g, Fiber: 28g, Protein: 74g
4 f/v
107oz water

60 minute walk + 24 minute walk

Anna

Your calories weren't too bad, especially considering the pretzels! At least you got a grip and didn't blow it for the rest of the day.

Great decision to walk between stores instead of drive. DH hates it when I make him do that. He should be used to it by now!

I agree. Your calories aren't bad even with the pb pretzels. Just think of the calories you burned on that 60min. walk and other running around you did! I'm impressed that you only had ONE KK donut the other day.

I hope you have a great couple of weeks. Keep on pluggin' away and you'll watch that scale continue on the downward trend. Take care!! :goodvibes

Anna, I think your food looked really good. PB pretzels are not a horrible snack, esp. since you ate a normal amount of them. You are doing great, don't beat yourself up over a few pretzels! You had a really nice amount of fruits and veggies too. Hope today was a good one for you!

Got a phone call this morning from some distant cousins on my dad's side. They are on vacation here now. I've met them once 6 years ago and they are just the very nicest of people. Unfortunately, it is my usually crazy busy schedule. We arranged for them to come over for an hour or so in the afternoon. We had a really nice visit catching up. Then I gave them directions to a couple of local places to eat and hurried off to "Back to School" night at the middle school. All of DD12's teachers seem really good. Some of them were not what I expected (much younger! does that mean I'm getting old ....) Her science teacher must be MUCH older than she looks. She has four kids (one in HS) and was skinny too!

I didn't get to walk this morning (rushing around cleaning the house  ), but other wise did ok. No time to really do much cheating.

Food:
b- grapefruit, 1c frosted wheat, 1.5c skim milk
l - 2/3c LF split pea soup, 2T hummus w/ cucumber sticks
s- granola bar
d - 1/2 ham sandwich, 12oz skim milk w/ ovaltine (while driving to school); 1 oreo at science class
3 f/v
72oz water

I wasn't really that good with the PB pretzels - the bag was almost empty and I ate all that was left. If there had been more, I would have eaten more. :sad2:

Sorry I have been so negligent getting to journals. Life is getting in the way ... I'll try and catch up early next week.

I had a cookie yesterday too! My neighbor loves to bake them and when DD went over to play with the neighbor boy, he wasn't there, but his mom sent her back with cookies. Gee, thanks... I guess it wouldn't be an issue if I had a single ounce of willpower!

Drinking and driving, huh? :rotfl: DH and I were out and about last weekend and we were beside a man who was eating a bowl of cereal while driving! I couldn't believe it!!!!!!

That's great that you got to have a visit with your relatives. And that it was short! :teeth:

Just a quick post before I collapse in bed. I'm exhausted. DH had gum surgery this morning. He is never sick and never complains about pain. This afternoon ... let's just say, he is a lousy patient and I am an even worse Florence Nightingale! He's on Darvocet and still miserable. Needless to say, he did not take on any of the various kids go here and there activities today, as planned. I'm not packed for Disneyland tomorrow. The PTA newsletter is not done and has to be done before we go, and TOM showed up. I had to go back and check my journal to confirm another 24 day cycle - This stinks!

Food was awful! I felt like I was on the edge all day long. I'd fall and then pull myself together again, then fall again ...
b - three snickerdoodle cookies (making kids lunch!)
s - PB whole wheat toast
l - 1/3c chicken salad, 8 LF triscuits, 10 grape tomatoes
2:30 - 9:30p - 1/2c pudding (made it for DH), 1.2oz almond pack, 3 more snickerdoodle cookies, 12oz skim milk, 3 handfuls BBQ potato chips, 1 Sr Cream & Onion mini rice crisp (this taste great on their own, but downright nasty after having the real thing with the BBQ chips! :rotfl2: ), spoonful of pudding, 1/2c cheerios w/ 1/4c milk, glass of red wine at 6th grade girls only dance party (this is a whole other story in itself! The hostess offered me a glass of wine and practically kissed her feet! :rotfl2: ), more pudding

Anna

Amy, Haven't mastered utensils while driving yet ... I do eat yogurt while parked waiting for kids though. If I didn't eat in the car, I'd probably only have one meal a day. Of course, that would probably be a good thing .... :rotfl2:

Hi Anna
Sorry about TOM, thats proberbly why you have felt so exhausted & the busy schedule doesnt help either!!!
The staff at my school are pretty young too...or should i say pretty & young!
I want to hear the dance party story now :)
