Hope you're having a wonderful time, Anna!

Enjoy your family and friends!!

Hi Anna!

I hope that you are doing well and that you are enjoying your time with your family! :goodvibes Hope to hear how you are doing soon! Until then, take good care of you! :grouphug:

Thanks all for your kind words and thinking of me while I was gone. We got back last night. I had a great family reunion and then a wonderful, but shortened visit with friends in WA. My dad's appendix ruptured last week (He'd had a "stomach ache" for the past 8 days). He had surgery friday and the kids and I quickly packed up and did the normally 2 day (+13 hours) drive from WA back to my parents in Northern CA on Saturday. Dad is doing great now, even getting cranky about not being able DO stuff. Sheesh!

While I was gone sometimes I made healthy choices, sometimes I used portion control, and sometimes I did neither. I did lots of hiking, etc the first week and ate better the second week. I stepped on the scale with some hesitation this morning - 169.0 - Nice surprise! I was down to 166 the morning we left, so only a 3 lb gain and still under 170! :Pinkbounc It is going to take a few days to get back on track, but I am committed to doing it!!

I have just boat loads of stuff to do (groceries, laundry, school stuff, etc), but had to logon and say hello to all my wonderful WISH friends. Thanks again and I'll be back later. Hopefully I can catch up on journals and stuff in the next week. Missed ya!

Anna, welcome home, I missed you! Sounds like you had a great time, I am glad your dad came through surgery okay and it sounds like he's getting back to normal. Also, very big congrats on your minimal weight gain that will probably be gone very soon. Good for you! Have fun catching up with everything, hope it feels good to be home and again Welcome Back!

Welcome home Anna :)
Glad you had a nice time & well done with only having a small gain!
Wishing your dad a speedy recovery :)

Welcome back! That's awesome that you only gained 3lbs! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :thumbsup2 I can do that in 1 weekend... :confused3

Bummer about your dad, I am glad he is feeling better now. One of my co-workers had his appendix burst and he was VERY sick and in the hospital for weeks because it poisoned his body. So I am glad things went well for your dad and maybe next time something is hurting him for 8 days he'll go to the Dr a little sooner! :teeth:

Welcome Back Anna! :Pinkbounc

That is wonderful that you only gained 3 pounds on vacation. :thumbsup2 Just be sure and drink lots of water and I bet those 3 pounds will just float away! :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. :( I'm glad that the surgery went well and that he is on the mend. :goodvibes

I hope you have a great weekend! :sunny:

Glad you had a nice vacation!! Sorry it was cut short, but thank goodness he's going to be ok!!
Don't worry about the 3 lbs. It will fall off pretty quick!!

Take it easy for a few days....check in when you can!!

Hi all. Thanks for the welcome back. :grouphug:
Dad is doing great - cranky, but healing well. Thanks for all the well wishes. :grouphug: Amy, dad is not one to go to the Dr. In fact, mom inisisted he go Wednesday night because he had a fever and the pain was getting worse. They went to the Urgent Care (since it was after 9pm). It was crowded and dad didn't want to wait and "he felt a bit better anyway!" so they went home and Dad went to the Dr the next morning who promptly sent him to the Hospital - "no you can NOT go home first!" Best we can figure, his appendix probably ruptured Wednesday night (when the pain got worse) and he just was darn lucky that he didn't get really, really sick. Luckily he is in very good health otherwise.

I have definitely not gotten into a healthy track yet. Today we left the house at 7:15a, dropped the older girls off for swim practice at 7:45a. Raced back up to be at school by 8am for the PTA "Welcome back Teachers" breakfast (Remind me next spring I DON'T want to be on the PTA board again! ). Then back down the freeway to pick up DD's from swim practice. Stopped at Starbucks since it was now 9:45a and I had had nothing to eat ('cause the breakfast was FOR the teachers, not the board members!). Took all three DD's to MIL's house and then DH and I went with his company to the ball game! We lost (no big surprise there!), but it was still fun. 8-0, bottom of the 9th, two outs, no one on base and the pitcher is at bat - game over, right? Pitcher actually gets a base hit. Next guy gets hits with a pitch. Third guy gets walked. Bases loaded and we hit a home run!! WOW!! The next guy struck out and the game was over 8-4, but the game was interesting for at least a few minutes. :teeth:

After the game, we went out to dinner with MIL and the kids. I had my only sort of healthy thing all day - Bruschetta appetizer as my meal. :rolleyes1

Now I need to unpack, finish laundry, and get ready for school to start on Monday  . I'm gonna try and catch up with journals, etc once school starts next week.

Anna

Anna, don't worry, you'll ease back into your routine as things slow down a bit. I am laughing at your PTO comment! After last year, my mantra was "Just say no to the PTO"! Never again, too much work and too much politics! Glad your dad is feeling better, that could have been very bad, glad it wasn't!

Sounds like you had a hectic day!!!
I am also on the US equivalent of the PTA (we call it the governors) i have been doing it for 5 years now, i enjoy it but i know what you mean, its a lot of time & effort with no pay & sometimes not much appreciation, but i feel like i am doing something positive & worthwhile....most of the time :)

I'm glad your dad is getting better. My co-worker said he actually felt better after it ruptured (even though he still had a raging fever). Not something to take lightly, that's for sure!

I have a good excuse for not participating in the PTO. They have all their meetings at 2:45. Sorry PTO ladies, some moms work!

You will slowly get back into your routine, especially when school starts. Just be patient, it will happen! :thumbsup2

Welcome back!!!! No worries over not being back into routine just yet. Once the school routine is back up and runnin', so will your healthy lifestyle! Glad your dad is feeling better. Have a great week!!

:sunny: Welcome back!!! Glad you had a nice time at the reunion -but sorry that you're Dad was so ill. I hope things are getting back to normal for you. Great job on staying under 170! :sunny:

Didn't really get off to a great start to my healthy lifestyle week. Still not eating well, and not exercising. At least I drank 90 oz of water, so that is a start, I guess.

Scale Monday morning was 170.5 :furious: DD10 wanted Chinese as her "last supper" before school started, so I know some of that weight is just major bloat, but still!

Speaking of school, DD10 started 6th grade at the elementary school. DD12 starts 7th grade at the middle school next Monday. DD3 starts preschool two days a week after Labor day. Swimming is back three afternoons a week, and DD10 starts soccer practice this week. It is becoming quite clear to me that I will be spending a huge chunk of my day dropping off and picking up children from their various places. I want a "Transporter" like they had on the old StarTrek. "Beam me up, Scottie!"

Food:
b-Almond butter & jam on wholewheat
s- none
l-none
s- granola bar, handful of PB pretzels, small handful chocolate covered PB pretzels
d- 3 slices pizza, 2c salad w/ lf dresssing, 24oz 1% milk

Off to fill out more school forms and write checks :rotfl2: .
