My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Hi Anna, your food sounds good, even with the pound cake! Just think, before you got so healthy, you would never have stopped at two pieces! And you are still so good with your exercise. Here's to the 160's!

Amy

P.S. Hope you dh gets back soon!

Looks like youve eaten pretty healthy to me!! Sounds yummy & as for the pound cake - you have to have a treat now & again :)
Have a good weekend
Tracey xx

You're doing great! As someone already mentioned, allowing you treats like pound cake now and then will actually help you stay on track! You won't feel deprived and will continue on this healthy living path that you're on. Congrats!! :sunny:

Kids had a club meet (swim meet with just their team, not other teams) this morning so no walk for me today. I probably should have had more protein today, but otherwise ate pretty well. DH came home tonight, saw that the kids were on my very last nerve (claims there was real steam coming from my ears :rotfl2: ), and immediately asked what I would like to drink. Something STRONG was my response. Hence, the OJ and vodka :rotfl2: . DH travels a lot for work and the kids go with the flow usually. For whatever reason, this time was tough. We ended up having a family meeting after dinner discussing everyone's behavior. DH has two trips next week. Hopefully it will be a better week.

Food:
7:15a - Blueberry Crumble toast (2), apple
12p - 1/2 turkey sandwich on wholewheat, 1c cherries, 12 oz skim milk
3p - apple, string cheese
7:45p- 1 3/4c Chunky Tomato Bisque, 2/3c corn (added to the soup), OJ & vodka
Totals: Cal: 1222, Fat: 21g, Carbs: 195g, Fiber: 21g, Protein: 47g
4 f/v (5 if I count the tomato soup & OJ :teeth: )

Water: 117oz

Exercise: none

Thanks everyone for the support. Yes, I do need to plan in treats and that really does help. I had been eyeing the leftover pound cake and it sounded so good for breakfast. After dinner I offered the remaining piece to the kids, but got no takers (they wanted ice cream), so I ate it ...

Hi Anna, man don't you just hate it when the kids won't eat the junk you are desparately trying to avoid, meaning you have no choice but to eat it yourself? Darn those kids for forcing you into the eating that pound cake :rotfl2: ! I have had my kids turn down junk so many times then I eat it and think "where are my fellow lovers of junk when I need them?" I think your food sounds great and a good stiff drink can be a mom's best friend. I figure sometimes its cheaper than therapy! I hope next week's dh-business trip goes better. My husband used to travel every week and some weeks were just awful from the get go. Next week will be an improvement I am sure! Have a great weekend, keep up your good work!

Here's to a good week ahead when dh's away for you and the kids. Just in case, be sure to have a little vodka within reach! ;) Hope you have a great, healthy weekend!

At least the pound cake is gone now! Sometimes it's best just to get rid of it. Preferrably in the trash, but we all know it's usually down the hatch instead... :rolleyes1

Hopefully things will be better for you next week with your DH gone again. I will be travelling internationally a couple times a year for my new job, poor DH is going to get a quick lesson in single fatherhood! I'm sure there will be lots of sandwiches, Lunchables and cereal for dinner when I am away... :confused3

You did great getting back into the non-pound cake way of life, congrats! :cheer2:

Congrats on sticking with the 160's. Sounds like you needed that drink! Glad your husband made it home safe and sound to fix it for you. I hope the kids and life all around calms down a bit for you.

Hi Anna,

Congrats on getting to the 170's.....you are going to make the 60's in no time!!!! You are doing great.....even with the pound cake incident. As others have mentioned, just think of it as a treat. You need those every now and then!

Keep up the great work!!! You are doing wonderful :)

Apparently I decided to take a break from healthy living for the past two days. I don't even know why :confused3 . DH's mom took the older 2 girls Friday afternoon for a sleepover (she does this maybe once a year). After they left I just relished in being by myself (DD3 took a 2 hour nap). When DH got home the three of us went out to El Torritos and then DH and I watched 3 hours of "24" (Tivo'd the whole season and we are only just now starting to watch.) Spent several hours in the pool since it is hotter than hades here - at 11am 91 degrees and 65% humidty - we just don't DO that kind of weather here! Watched a couple more hours of "24" this afternoon while DD3 was napping. Seems sort of boring, I know, but it is so nice to just be able to veg. Really no reason at all for making dumb food choices, but that is what I did. :confused3

Friday: 80 oz water
b - Blueberry Crumble toast(2) w/ 1T almond butter, 12 oz skim milk
l - handful of chex mix
s - GoLean bar (like the cereal better.)
d - lots of chips and salsa, steak & chicken fajitas, mango margarita
1 f/v

Exercise: none. Dropped the kids at the pool, went home to meet a service person, back to the pool for DD3's lesson.

Saturday: 104 oz water
b - 1 scrambled egg, 2 bacon, 1 blueberry crumble toast, 6 oz grapefruit juice
l - tri-tip sandwich w/ half the bread, 12 baby carrots
s- 2 animal crackers, 1/4 blueberries
d - 1/2 turkey & cheese sandwich, 6 shrimp, 3-4 handfuls chili cheese fritos :sad2: , 12oz skim milk

Exercise: none. In the pool for a probably 3 hours total and didn't swim a single lap :sad2:

I've got to get back on track. I do not want to go back to the 170's :furious:

Hopefully the family meeting thursday night will make a difference. I don't want a repeat of last week :sad2:. I will definitely plan a cocktail or glass of wine though, just in case. At least it has no fat grams :rotfl2: .

I am glad the pound cake is gone. I threw out DSIL's leftover birthday cake by the middle of the week since the kids weren't eating it. The pound cake was just too good to throw away though. :rotfl2:

Jaime, glad your back! I've missed you.

Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing day! You deserved it!! Let me know how the meeting holds up...I think we're going to have to have one around here SOON!!
I saw that you had the blueberry crumble bread....man that stuff is so good!!! I'm thinking of going to the store right now to get some....(7:19 am and i'm still in my pj's!!)
I know what you mean about going up on the scale instead of down.....I'm really hoping for a loss this week, but I don't think it's gonna happen.... :confused3
My dd's b-day is Thursday, and I'm dreading having the cake around here!! I'm thinking of sending pieces home w/ each of the kids instead of a goodie bag!!! Or better yet, put the cake in the goodie bag!!! :teeth:

Have a great day!!
marie

What a relaxing day! I always feel so guilty when I lounge around and watch TV, but DH always tells me that he doesn't care and that I don't relax like that enough. So YAY for you getting some down time in!

I love that Blueberry Crumble bread. I had to stop buying it, it's just too tempting to eat half the loaf in a single sitting... Your food doesn't look all that terrible. Check out my journal for Sat, you look like you were on Jenny Craig compared to what I consumed! :confused3

We had record heat here last week as well (118 degrees!). I'm glad to see I am not the only one who floats in the pool instead of swimming laps... :rolleyes1

You can get back on track. Let's start again tomorrow. I think we can safely use the excuse that the heat was making us all insane! :joker:

I bet your body is thanking you for that RELAXATION!!!! I'm a 24 fan too so a day full of 24 and relaxing around a pool sounds like heaven to me! Since you had that down time, you may feel energized to get back to that healthy eating plan this week. After all, we're all in this together!

Today was DH's "do over Father's Day". He had gotten gypped on the real Father's Day since it was DD's 3rd birthday and we had houseguests. I made French Toast for breakfast, and then we headed to La Costa Spa :cloud9: . Now let me confess right up front that a day at the spa is really not DH's idea of a good time. However, we were given a couples massage gift card as a christmas present. DH had earlier suggested that I use the gift card with a female friend. I don't think so - it is a couples massage  .Today seemed like a good time to use the gift card. I wanted to have a day for him/us that would be relaxing. It definitely was for me, and DH said it was ok, but he didn't need to do it again :rotfl2: . I definitely could have spent the whole day there however :rotfl2: . I'd never been to La Costa Spa, but wow it is really, really nice! Before our massage, we spent about an hour at the pool & whirlpool and the "roman waterfall/shower". It was a big, super high powered shower head that pounded straight down on your shoulders - felt really good. Our massage was excellent. Then we spent another hour outside at the pool area again before having a late lunch at the spa cafe. I could easily have spent the rest of the afternoon, but I could see DH was ready to go, so I went and got my "Aqua de la Vida" scrub (someone scrubs your back and legs with a loofah and citrus gel) and took a shower with lots of wonderful products. DH took another dip in the pool and got dressed - skipped the scrub, skipped the shower :rotfl2: . I had told DH he could pick whatever fast food he wanted (he is a fast food junkie.) for dinner. He chose KFC - I think it was the most anti-fru fru food he could think of :rotfl2: .

Now it is time to get back on track. I should have no more distractions/excuses for behaving the rest of the week.

Food:
8:30 - 2 slices french toast, 2T maple syrup, 1/3c blueberries, 12oz skim milk
12:15p - sea breeze (vodka & cranberry juice)
1:30p - giant mound of chicken salad (ate most of it too!), cucumber slices, grapes, tomato slices
5:30p - (KFC) 2.5 boneless bbq wings, 2/3c mashed potatoes, 1/2 biscuit, 12 oz skim milk
Totals: no idea?
3 f/v

Water: drank 64 oz at home, and tons at the spa. There were dispensers everywhere of ice water. They had cucumber slices or orange slices or lime slices in them :teeth: . Pretty sure I got in 100 ozs?

Exercise: none

Anna

Marie- It has been a much needed relaxing weekend :cloud9:.So far the family meeting seems to have helped. We'll see how it goes this week with DH gone. Happy early birthday to DD :cheer2: and good luck with "disposing" of the birthday cake  .

Amy- I always feel like I should "do" something with my time when the kids are away, but sometimes what I really want to do is veg. I love the Blueberry crumble bread. I keep it in the freezer and just pull out 1-2 slices and put them in the toaster. With the kids swimming every morning, I have been eating breakfast while driving and the toast is perfect. The heat is crazy. I don't know how you do it in AZ - 118 wow!

CJK- DH and I got hooked on 24 3 years ago. We had season 1 on DVD when DD3 was a newborn. We would watch a couple of hours together several times a day when she was up at all hours. We watched the whole season in about 10 days. Now we don't like to watch just 1 hour/week (too many cliffhangers :rotfl2: ) so we Tivo it and watch several weeks at a time. Usually we have caught up by the time the season finale airs though. This year, we hadn't even started the season  .

Hi Anna, sounds like you had a nice, relaxing weekend. That spa sounds wonderful! My husband sounds like yours, I had booked a couples massage for our cruise and he was so not excited but then we cancelled it when we had our unexpected car repair anyway. I think he messed up the brakes purposely to avoid going for a massage! And I had KFC this weekend too (whats up with that, I never eat that stuff). Tasted good going down but I think it put me over on fat grams for the next two weeks. Oh well, its Monday, new day, new start for all of us here on the WISH right? The 170's will not come back, you are back on track and doing great. Happy New Week to You!!

Now, that sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate!!!! You know how to do things up right! I better subscribe to your thread and take lessons because I must be doing something wrong! Glad you had a wonderful weekend. :wizard:

Wow, Anna and Amy, I should rent my DH out to you guys! He gets massages every 6-8 weeks and I am just not into it (unless he's the one giving it :teeth: ). He would have loved a day at the spa and I would have been cringing everytime someone had to touch me... :confused3

You are right, today starts a new week and you will get back into your routine of walking and eating right. How much longer is swimming? What are you going to do when that is over?

It's my DREAM to go the spa for a couples massage with dh! I think he'd really like it, so long he didn't have to pay for it! ;) I'm glad you enjoyed the special day and are ready to tackle the week with lots of great choices!

Do American KFC's have the new grilled chicken option? I was having a hankering a few weeks ago for KFC and decided to try it. It has something like 450 calories and 10g of fat. It was tasty, but I needed a salad with it in order to feel full but KFC doesn't have any good salad options yet. Just wondering if this new option is south of the border too!

Hi Anna,

The spa sounds Magnificent!! Something I've always wanted to try. Not sure my DH would like it either though. :rotfl:

Hi Anna,

The spa visit sounds wonderful! :cloud9: I wish my DH would schedule a visit for me.... ;) It sounds like it was a great way to start your week! :sunny:

Have a great Tuesday! :goodvibes
