vacation trailor in Sarasota Florida and they said we can use it. NICE..


So My husband says we can start planning our trip to Florida for next summer.

Ready for this one he wants us to stay there (which is great) and we dont need to stay near WDW, since we have a place and dont have to worry about paying for hotel rooms. He said we can drive there spend the day and then drive back to Sarasota at the end of the day. and we will only need one or two days.

When will he learn.. that there are 4 parks and that each parks takes a day and the magic kingdom two. .

He then reminded my I used to Do it when I lived in Walnut Cal, and drove to Disneyland all in one day. Walnut and Anehiem are like a 30 minute drive, and Sarasota and WDW is 2 hours.

I think he thinks of WDW is like Ceder Point, he grew up in Michigan so Ceder Point was his vacations.

Well, Bambii, that sounds a bit too ambitious. Granted, it can be done, but it's about as practical as me flying down for the day and then coming back (it takes about the same amount of time to fly from NY as it would to drive from Sarasota).

A more practical plan would be to use the trailer as a "base of operations" and apply the initial savings to two or three nights at one of the more affordable hotels in or nearby WDW.

I think you're looking at about a two and a half hour drive each way and I'm sure the kids (not to mention the big ones) will be a little cranky by the time you get back to Sarasota.

Sarasota is very beautiful, but it is a little too far to be driving back and forth to WDW. Show him a map, that may help your cause!

Not to mention, TRAFFIC! I live near Tampa and you don't want to get near I-275 and I-4 during rush hour every day. Tack on another hour AT LEAST if you're traveling on a weekday during early morning or later in the afternoon...

DH's parents have a house in Sarasota...we spent the week before New Year's there and then stayed at WDW for the last few days. It is definitely too long to drive everyday....especially after a long day at the parks. Getting up the next morning and driving back would be the nightmare!

On one of our earlier trips we were staying with some friends in my hometown of Titusville and decided to just drive over to WDW. It's about 1 1/2 hours. The first day was fine because we were so excited....the second one was harder to get up and get going....then even harder to think about driving after a busy day at Epcot....the kids were so grumpy.

I agree with GeorgeG, use some of the money you'll save by staying at your in-laws and stay at a hotel for a few nights. That way you can enjoy your time at Disney and enjoy relaxing at the trailer the rest of the time.
