How about a thread stating what would be included in your ideal DVC resort?

What would make you want to stay there almost every trip?
What amenities would cause you to be compelled to buy an add-on?

Please keep the suggestions in the realm of reasonable, not suggesting that Mickey visit your room every day to play with the kids. You get my drift?

Just play nice.

Thanks for considering this.

I heard a rumor on a totally different board that they are going to make/convert some rooms at the Contemporary into DVC units, do you think thats true?:listen:

Add me to the monorail list. I've stayed at the CR and PR, and there's something quite magical about walking from your room to the monorail and taking it to a park. I don't fault the bus system - but we are talking about ideals here....

Oh, and Nikki Cox for my maid! ;)

Absolutely agree with the posters who said Monorail access to the parks. I love my DVC but I miss the convenience I had when I stayed at the Polynesian. From the Poly you can take the monorail to the MK or walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. Those are my two favorite WDW parks, so it was great and it's the main thing I miss when I am at BWV.

It's certainly a perk to be able to walk to Epcot and MGM from BWV, but sometimes, especially when it's hot, it's no fun to walk. And I find the Epcot boat to be much less efficient than the monorail, especially when it picks you up at the International Gateway. It seems to take FOREVER for that boat to leave the dock for the trip to BWV. And the monorail does feel much more "magical" to me than a boat or a bus.

I'd be ecstatic if the rumors of a Contemporary DVC turn out to be true, but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh and one more thing would make my DVC trip ideal--Johnny Depp waiting for me when I got back to my room. And no, not for maid service! :teeth:

I am still hopping for the Cont - it would be only the north wings - WDW is fixing up the South Wings - I haven't heard about WDW fixing up the North wings at Cont.....

but hey I am just so darn happy with the new AP discounts - I just don't care what else happens.

Food court/quick restaurant type of eatery, plasma televisions, monorail. One that had more DVC merchandise.

My ideal DVC resort would start off with a theming that transported me out of Orlando to another place altogether. A place that would be beautiful, majestic and peaceful.

A place with a lovely setting using natural surroundings such as lakes, wooded areas, etc that allows the guest to be immersed in the theming.

A place with alternative to the usual bus transportation.

A place with lots of non-park activities for young and old.

A place so special that it has its own tours to explain all the theming and detail.

A place full of hidden Mickeys, again for the young and old. ;)

A place with a good family fun restaurant, a nice upscale restaurant and a good food court area.

A place that never fails to inspire you no matter how many times you come through its doors.

A place that truly makes you feel that you've "come home".

Yes, the ideal resort already exists on the shores of Bay Lake! :)

BWV is ideal for me, just as VWL (or BCV, OKW, HH or VB) is to others. But no resort is perfect, and I find it hard to believe that anyone is so satisfied with any resort that they wouldn't change one thing if they had the power to do so.

Of course I could be wrong. If Monorail access was offered to VWL folks, perhaps they would indeed reply "Naw, it's perfect the way it is, give the monorail to the BWV whiners". And that would be fine with me!

;) :wave: ::yes::

I'll take all of Granny's suggestions, add KellNotAt's and add:

* Larger rooms like OKW
* Bigger balconies like OKW
* Better Balcony furniture
* Bunk Beds (in addition to the King) available in some rooms
* Dining options of at least one food court, one mid-level sit down and one high end sit down restaurant.
* If it's going to be as big as SSR, create two themed pools with slides rather than one. Otherwise, stick with smaller resorts
* Separate from any other Disney resort (unlike BCV, BWV, or WLV)
* Member's only lounge (actually, I'd rather have this in the parks)
* Boat service that runs every 20 min (instead of the ridculous service at SSR)
*Free Internet Access

Hmmm...still thinking

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I've never been a huge fan of the Poly or the CR theming. It must be because we didn't take a family vacation there as kids or something. If I was going to stay in that area, it would be GF (which I think is a little over-priced). While it would be nice to have a DVC resort in that area, access to the monorail isn't such a big deal to me if it doesn't go to all of the parks. I realize that the cost would be enormous...and there are some type of environmental limitations to where the monorail can travel...but I think Disney made a mistake by not continuing with the monorail.

Katie - I like some of your suggestions - but I like the Balcony furniture just like it is...

during a hurricane (I like to go in Sept) - I won't want to move anything bigger or heavier inside.

In my family, we'd like DVC rooms with a Savanna view (as in AKL, not GA). I realize VAKL is very unlikely, but we're dreaming here.

Ahh, dinner at Jiko, then wander back to our 2BR for a nice dessert wine and watch the Sunset Savanna at sunset :cloud9: Oh yeah. I'm there.
