Has anybody successfully dealt with snoring problems? DH's snoring has become SO bad! I can hear every breath he takes...the volume reaches cartoonish proportions. I finally had to wake him up last night, so he stormed off to sleep on the couch. I felt guilty for a few minutes...until I drifted into a blissful sleep in a deliciously quiet room.

Do any of the anti-snoring products work? I see ads for the sleep clinics...are they legit?

Advice anyone? :confused3

He may need to have a sleep study done. These are a legit medical test. He may have sleep apnea, which can be treated.

My SO snoring has gotten very bad. I usually end up sleeping on the couch (still trying to figure that one out!). He tried the breathe right strips he noticed a difference in his breathing but he still snored. He's packed on about 20 pounds and I'm hounding him to lose it, he's been worse since he's gained the weight. I'm thinking I should have my own bedroom someday!

I have the same problem with my SO. He snore so loud that I also end up on the couch because I don't want to wake him up. Breathe Right strips don't work for him either, in fact it was worse. Not sure how to deal with it, but I use ear plugs when it gets really bad and then put a pillow over my head.

Interested and hopeful to see some type of success storu :)

He needs to be evaluated for sleep apnea.

After that--I'd say it's time for separate bedrooms. I know several people who do this for the same reason.

Please, make an appointment for a sleep study. Best thing I ever did for my marriage. DH had a huge snoring problem and I could hear him stop breathing and then gasp for breath (sleep apnea). Both he and I used to walk around like zombies. We were tired and miserable from lack of sleep. He now sleeps with a breathing machine called a c-pap. It comes with a face mask that fits over the mouth and nose and forces fresh air into the nose.

My DH is a snorer, too. He gets so loud I get awaken by the noise! He didnt really snore until he put on all this extra weight. Now, my dad is a snorer also and after years of not sleeping so well he went into a sleep clinic and they diagnosed him with sleep apnea and fitted him with this oxygen mask, now he sleeps like a baby, no snoring.....funny thing is mom now wakes up from her own snoring! Laughs!

Call me evil but if DH falls asleep on the couch I leave him there so I can get a good nights sleep in our comfy king bed!

My husband also used to have a terrible snoring problem, then he had a sleep study done and it was determined that he had severe sleep apnea. He now sleeps with c-pap machine and there is peace in our room again. The results are immediate, and I can tell a big difference in his personality now that he is not sleep deprived.

My dh is a horrible snorer also. He had a sleep study done and all they said was that he snores.....like DUH!!! He has no sleep apnea. We have not slept in the same room for years because of it though I have tried on occassion to try sleeping with him again. Now since I am on O2 at night for desaturation and dh cant stand the sound of the machine I guess we will always sleep in seperate rooms. Funny that my machine is much quieter than his snoring yet it bothers him.

Did you have a referral from your primarly physician to have the study done? I am begging my husband to do something!! Between a toddler who doesn't sleep and the snoring, I'm exhausted!

Our primary doctor referred my husband for the sleep study and my pulmonologist referred me for the sleep study.

Untreated sleep apnea can lead to pulmonary hypertension and other cardio/pumonary problems so not only is it annoying, it has to be treated!! Between all this snoring there is a momentary cessation of breathing which puts a huge strain on the heart and lungs. And a person with true sleep apnea does not enter REM sleep so they are dangerously tired.

We thought the reason my DH was so tired because we had newborn twins but a sleep study confirmed sleep apnea. In the first two hours he woke himself up over 30 times and never went into REM. It's amazing he wasn't in an accident or something bad. With a trial of CPAP he slept like a baby and later was like a new person!

And as an FYI, it isn't only larger people who have sleep apnea. The respiratory therapist who came here told us after our house she was going to the house of a 17 yo boy's and then to an elderly woman's - both slim!

No, my dh does not snore, thank God, however when a group of us went to WDW, 9 total, one of the gals did real bad, that we had to get ear plugs!

My DH sleeps on the couch every night because of his snoring, but it took me years to convince him that his snoring was so bad that I was awake all night long. The thing that finally made him believe me was when my son woke up in the middle of the night one night when he was 3, came into our room, and told DH to be quiet because his snoring woke him up!

DH won't go to a Dr. though for anything, so the couch has just become his permanent bed.

My DH snored so loud, you could hear him snoring out in the yard. He went to have a sleep study done, and they gave him a CPAP machine. Now he doesn't snore and he feels so much better- lots more energy.

My dh and my 100 pound yellow lab both snore every night and drive me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DH snores very rarely, I just wake him up and he changes positions and it stops.

My dad is awful. I have never heard anything as loud as him in my life. He has sleep apnea and had all the studies done. They determined the machine would not work for him, so he had the surgery where they snip something out of his throat. It was extremely painful and it didn't end up helping him at all. So, my parents have seperate bedrooms on opposite sides of the house. It doesn't bother them too much though because they have completely different sleep schedules. People think they are crazy for having seperate bedrooms, but my mom is much happier now that she can get a good nights sleep.

The sleep study is a must. Get it as soon as possible.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea ten years ago and have slept using a CPAP machine since. That little thing saved my life and my marriage. Although, when I slept on the couch during the winter months I got to fall asleep to a flickering log in the fireplace, but it wasn't good sleep at all.

My DH had a sleep study done, and during the night he literally stopped breathing 43 times. Now he uses a machine for apnea and it has helped ALOT!

But he still snores.......and I'm a HORRIBLY light sleeper.

So I now have my own bedroom and I love it!!
