My husband slept on the couch last night...and it was so nice!!!

my parents slept in different rooms due to his snoring. My firend has a husband that snores terribly and what they do is work opposite shifts so one sleeps during the day and one sleeps during the night!
I would certainly have him checked out by a Dr if he snores that bad though...I can't even sleep when someone is breathing heavy in their sleep, no way could I sleep in the same room with a snorer. When I used to stay at my boyfriends house years ago I would end up with a blanket on the couch since I couldn't get any sleep with his snoring.

My husband snores less if he is on his side. I've heard of people sewing tennis balls into the back of the husband's pj's, but I mainly just push him over.

OP, please make him go for a sleep study. It will be good for his health as well as your own :flower:

DH doesn't snore and he is a good sleeper. But when he falls asleep on the couch watching TV-I leave him there! I love to sleep in the bed alone. I spread out, use all the pillows, our dog takes his side and it is a nice peaceful nights rest. :goodvibes

Call me evil but if DH falls asleep on the couch I leave him there so I can get a good nights sleep in our comfy king bed!

I am soooo there with you!! I do the same thing too!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Please, Please, Please - those of you with husbands or SOs that have a snoring problem - beg your husband to go and have a study done. Offer him anything he wants, get him a year subscription to NFL on Digital Cable - anything.

Sleep Apnea is a VERY serious problem. It can lead to many health problems. If anything, point out to your DH that Sleep Apnea is one of the possible factors that killed Reggie White. Those with Sleep Apnea generally never get REM sleep so even if they sleep the whole night, they might as well have not slept that night as REM is the most important and restful sleep.

Before I was diagnosed, I couldn't drive more than 15 minutes without almost falling asleep at the wheel. I could sit down in the living room at anyone's house and 3 minutes later be fast asleep. My quality of life was in the toilet and I didn't even know it. I was waking up 60 times an HOUR. That means once a minute I was waking up because of snoring. My wife and family were suffering too.

Please, print this message out. Have your husband read it. The test is PAINLESS and insurance should cover most if not all - my insurance even paid for the machine 100%. There are no needles, no poking an no prodding. You get to watch TV in the clinic before going to sleep and you sleep in a normal bed.

If you don't do it for yourself, do it for your wife and family. Please, Please, Please!!!!

I feel your sleepless pain. My husband blasts me out of even the bedroom when he snores. When he was officer aviation candidate school, he would awaken to a pile of shoes around him that had been thrown at him during the night to quiet him down.

He had a sleep study done last year and the result: snoring with no sleep apnea. The only cures are weight loss (he runs and works out, but has hit 45 and still eats the same), and surger.

My secret is to always go to bed tired. No naps for me our I am in the guest bedroom with the fans on for white noise.

DH is a dentist who treats sleep apnea & snoring. Most people with sleep apnea snore, but not all people who snore have sleep apnea. It is a very serious health problem which can cause many other problems. Your physician can send him for a sleep study, or if you don't want to do a full overnight study, find a dentist in your area who can put him on a Watch-Pat overnight at home. It is much less expensive & usually covered by your medical insurance. CPAP is the best option for sleep apnea, but for those who are intolerant of the CPAP or have mild to moderate sleep apnea, dental devices & surgery are options. Please don't go to just any dentist for a boil & bite "snore guard" - they aren't customized & adjustable enough to do any good.

DH has sleep apnea - he had success with the dental device until he decided to do orthodontics. The device didn't work with his braces & he now has a CPAP. Whatever you do, get the problem diagnosed & treated - it will make a huge difference for both of you!
