Last week I bought a new tent. I set it up in the yard the other day to try it out, see if there were leaks, etc. Today I get an email from my husband while I'm at work:
"1) Your tent makes a SUPERB kite which is almost capable of lifting me
off the ground.
2) Rebar is a wonderful thing. "

Turns out, there was enough wind to lift the tent from the back yard (staked with 12 stakes!), over my husband's pick up truck, and into the front yard, where it lodged in our cherry tree. Thank goodness he looked out the window when he did! The cherry tree is just feet from the street! He pulled it to the ground and was almost lifted away in the process! He stood inside it till the wind died down, then moved quickly. He got it back into the backyard and staked it down with rebar...big honking lengths of rebar. That sucker isn't moving a bit. It's 9' by 12' by 6' high, so it's a good sized tent to manhandle on your own.
To top it off? He hates camping. He goes to humor me. He would have happily let the tent sail down the street if he didn't love me so much!
Now I'm off to make him a cake.
