Hi

We have just found with just over 2 weeks to go that my husband has lost his paper part of his licence. Has anyone else been able to hire a car without this part?

If not looks like I might have to drive :scared1:

Also does anyone know does all minivans have car seats built into them? :confused3 My husband said he thinks they are but I am not so sure.

Thanks

Yes, I only ever hand over my photo part.
The Americans are used to seeing phot drivers licences and are happy, plus its great as an i.d. when changing large travellers cheques.

Car seats built into mini vans are only on certain specced cars or an optional extra

Hi Michelle DH friend goes to florida every couple of months and always hire's a car and has never been asked for the paper part of his licence hope this helps only 19 days to go it still feels like forever , happy packing  :Pinkbounc

Hiya

Thanks for your advice I am so pleased that we dont need the paper part. We will be booking it tomorrow and putting both of us down just in case.

Wildwood,

I know it still feels like forever. Days are dragging now and starting to feel restless.

I have started to pack already, but I will probably get it back out again and start ironing it the weekend it before we leave.

19 days yipee.

Look out for two stressed parents with a 5 yr old in a Minnie Dress and twin boys.

I read on the boards that you do need the paper bit and not necessarily the plastic bit. My DH2B has mislaid his too - we called the DVLA to get a replacement over the phone but apparently you can only do that if you lose both bits! One or the other and you have to complete a whole new application...

Of course can't see how they'd know you hadn't lost both bits  - if you've got two weeks left call 0870 240 0009 - it'll cost you £19 and if it arrives before you leave you can stop worrying :0)
