HI DIS friends,

This evening, while watching Little HOuse on the Prairie, my husband was eating popcorn and then he got a blood blister on the roof of his mouth.

never never seen this before or heard of it. There's nothing in my medical books to cure it.

Husband said he's gotten this once before many moons again but doesn't remember the outcome.

Any help anyone on how to heal it?

Thanks.

I'm sorry to say, but this quack doesn't have a clue. :confused3 I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

No help here. I have never heard of this before, do you know how he got it???

I hope someone here can help.

I get these all the time. most of the time it is from when I am eating and I bite the side of my cheek. blood fills up the whole side. I really hate to tell you what I do, but I chew the side of it till it pops and then I gargle with hot salt water.
-the reason for me is due to a medical condition that has this as a side affect

i usually get them inside my mouth by biting my cheeks on accident too. i just leave them and they go away on their own in a few days, maybe a week. i know they can be annoying, but it's not a big deal.

I've heard of a blood blister. My son got one on his hand playing baseball -- he bare handed a hard hit ball. It happens whenever a sudden injury occurs in a soft area like the heel of your foot, palm of your hand, fingertip or roof of your mouth. That must have been one tough piece of popcorn!

The blood will reabsorb into his body over the course of about a week. Pretty similar to a regular blister. This also means that if he breaks the blister, just like a regular blister, there will be pain. Better he stay away from popcorn, sharp chips and other hard food items for a week until it heals. I do remember that my son's blister had a little dried blood still under the blister bubble after a week.

Thanks everyone, especially Adisneygirl. Like I said, I never heard or seen this before and it just creeped me out looking at it.

I feel so much better reading your posts.

A sigh of relief.

I get them from time to time. Rinsing your mouth out with salt water (don't swallow!) takes care of it quickly, but like another poster said, it will go away on it's own.

Funny, I got one 2 days ago from a french fry at Wendy's. I didn't do anything and it is getting better on it's own.
