I am taking my hubby to DW for the first time very soon. I have been a handful of times and don't want to ruin the experience for him by being a loudmouth and ruining all of the surprises. I also don't want to sway him away from trying things that I have tried and did not enjoy.

My hubby is a huge Disney fan and I really don't want to ruin the magic for him.

Have any of you went with newbie adults? How did it go? Did you take charge or just go with the flow?

I am looking for tips and reminders as I don't recall what it was like my first time :(

I am taking my wife this February! It will be a brand new experience for her and I know she will love it.

I had been twice before my DBF came with me.
I decided that I'd love to see it through a newbies eyes!
The only way I took control was by planning the ADRs ( we both sat down looked at restaurants but I booked)
I also knew which rides the queues are generally big at and we headed there first.
We always, even now, get a map, sit down and have a quick think about what we want to do.
I had a great time as he pointed out things I'd never noticed before

I think what you need to find is the fine line between you taking control completely and taking control to ensure you see the things you want him to experience.

Don't control the whole time you're there, just the bits you're sure you don't want him to miss out on.

We're going next year and taking another newbie (My BFF) with us (plus my parents and Younger sister, who've been a few times but whenever we come back, wonder how they missed the things we saw!) and both my DBF and myself can't wait!! :goodvibes

My sister and I did the Expedition Everest Challenge in June and two of my favorite moments were showing her special surprises.

The first was in Hollywood Studios. I showed her the umbrella from Singing in the Rain and told her to stand under it so I could take a picture for her husband. The look on her face when it started raining was priceless and nearly surpassed when I told her to take my picture, but didn't step on the black pad, so it didn't rain on me! She's looking forward to playing that trick on her husband when they go.

The second was taking her into Sir Mickey's and telling her to look up.

I am excited about this thread!! I am taking DH to WDW in MArch. It is his first visit back in 14 years! Alot has changed. I will be haunting this thread for awesome ideas to WOW him!!

I have already made our ADRs and we are staying at BLT in a Bay Lake view studio (super excited about that!!) and I was thinking I would kind of let him pick the parks and set the pace for the days. Can't wait!!

Ooo... I'm going with a co-worker that hasn't been in over 15 years - so I consider her a newbie... Where is the Umbrella from Singing in the Rain??? I've never seen it when I've gone to HS. I'd love to find it .... and maybe borrow your little prank!

It's around the back in Streets of America (I think that's what it's called). Kind of opposite the Lights, Motor, Action thing (I think that's what it's called). Just be sure not to step on the black pad on the ground. The umbrella is welded to a lamp post at an angle, like the scene in Singing in the Rain. Have fun!

I had the pleasure of taking my whole family for their first trip. The only thing we planned was our park days and 1 meal.

Everything else, I left up to them - and it was the best trip ever.

Remember to slow down and see the place through them.

DH wasn't thrilled to go, but I would talk about all the little things that make the park special (all the stories behind the attractions or special things you can do there). By the time we left, he was so excited to see all the things I had been going on about for the last month.

Oooh...these are helpful ideas for difficult areas. I'm taking DH for his first visit next spring, and he doesn't understand why I am so excited to go. Maybe giving him maps and letting him pick things to do will help!
