Arrived home last night from a mother daughter trip to WDW. 2 moms and 2 thirteen year old best friends. Trip was terrific. Unfortunately, I received a call Tuesday afternoon that my house had been broken into. We were just checking in at ths Sci-Fi for lunch (my daughters pick of the day). I took my phone outside to try to deal with this long distance with the police, ex-husband, and older daughter. The people around me of course could hear what I was dealing with and they were so kind. I let them know that my daughter wasn't home when this occured and the dog was fine. The dog was put in the bathroom (go figure a kind thief). My 13 year old was quite upset. She was very concerned for her prized disney dvds. LOL! I assured her that they wouldn't be looking to take them and she did laugh. Her best friend was wonderful and we were determined that this was NOT going to ruin our trip! And it didn't.
After lunch at the Sci-Fi we went to see Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. I went up first to have my picture taken and I told them that she needed some cheering up. When she went for a picture, Sully gave her such a big hug that you could only see her legs.
So now I have to go back to cleaning up the finger printing dust (ink). Not as much fun as pixie dust. And it isn't as easy as you may think. Wish me luck as it is everywhere.

Oh no, that is terrible! Thank goodness the dog (and the Disney CDs) are o.k.! :) We just got back from WDW too Jan, glad you were able to make the best of your trip in spite of everything.

:grouphug:

sorry to hear about your unfoortunate experience. At least someone was home to deal with it and you didn't have to cut your vacation short.

That is horrible Jan. I've been there. It's nasty to have to look at the fingerprints with that dust :(

BIG HUGS FOR YOU BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. At least you and your daughter were safe at WDW :teeth:. I hope they catch the people who did this!

That's awful... I am glad no one was home.

It sounds like it by your name that you live on the Cape and that's scary. I've lived there most of my life and it was always such a safe quite place!!

That's terrible. Good for you for not letting it ruin your trip. I hope they catch the theif soon!

My daughter's laptop was one of the things stolen and she had to leave for her freshman year at college the following day, so it left a mess for her to deal with when she arrived on campus.

Going to head to the police station in a bit with a list.
The cheif of police is a friend of ours and my daughter said he arrived at the house in under 1 minute. We live 1.5 miles from the police station. I laughed and told her we are fortunate.......The Chief doesn't normally go to house breaks as his dept. is quite competent.
I'll let ya know how things turn out.
Jan

What a bummer, Jan. Really tough when your home is broken in. :( Good to hear your trip went on well. We had our home burglarized years ago, know the feeling. Good wishes on getting all taken care of.

Ahh, sorry to hear about your home.

You sound a little up about this like you are in schock yet, don't be surprised if you get hit with some kind of post traumatic stress.

Did other places in your area get broken into.

Last summer a 20 yr old boy was breaking into people's cars, garages and houses looking for money and perscription drugs. I met our retired police chief and he asked me if our house got hit. I told him no, because the person probably knew us. Guess what, it was a kid from my dd class and he did know us. He broke into so many homes, cars, garages in our homes. He was addicted to oxycotin, he needed the drug or money to support his habit. He talked to my dd this summer and he hasn't been sentenced yet, but he has been attending drug rehab and he knows he will probably be locked up a good 10 years. He said it will depend how many homeowners press charges. He broke into over 30 different homes.

He also told my dd that he knew people that live in our town don't lock their doors at nite or during the day. I think he opened a lot of people's eyes. He is very remorseful and he blames it on the drug, but he knows it is to late and he will be going to jail.
