is horrible...call backs we're today...didnt get a call back. Just once I'd actually like to have a role..yes, my last role did count, but it wasnt speaking. I really wanted to be in Godspell...the director always puts the same 10 or 12 people in every play, and never gives anyone else a chance, whats crappy is that right now their is a thespian run show in practice..same kids...even the senior director..he's working around the musicals schedule... ::sigh:: and my auditions went so well to..I guess thats what happens when you have a school of 2,000+ kids...with 40 girls trying out for 6 girl roles...whats even worse is that almost every play in exsistence has the main character cast as a boy, with most the mian characters being boys...when their arent even enough boys for all the roles, so they convert some to girls, and any guy who trys out automatically makes it, reguardless of talent...I think Im pretty good, If i was only given the chance, all i want to do is preform, and make people laugh..hopefully someday I'lll get that chance...Is my school the only way like this? Does your school actually give oppertunitys?

In our school, it's the same kids over and over- i think b.c the director thinks they're good...well, they are but thats besides the point- so most people just stopped trying out, except for the frosh, b.c they have to learn for themselves.

What was stinky in 7th gr. was I wanted to be in the lollipop guild in the wizard of oz, but she put me in the lullaby league instead :( I was really mad b.c i didnt want to sing or wear a leotard in front of everyone... in 8th gr. the stupid director decided to make our play a musical, so since i cant sing i got a crappy part, which is unfair b.c im an awesome actor! hehe... j/k... so anyway- i wanted to get robin hood, but i think even if it was just a drama, she would have still given the part to a boy.

but that's all in the past and i don't want to deal with those ppl who know talent when they see it! :)

favoritism happened all the time. The best you can do is keep auditioning. Or, do what i did and have a student production.

It was sooo much fun. It was a three man show (the complete works of william shakespeare) and we pulled a large audience. Everyone I talked to really enjoyed it.

I've never tried out for a play or musical at my school, but we have an awesome Performing Arts program. People actually come from high schools all over Columbus to do it. PA people have normal classes for half a day, and then either dance, drama, or tech classes in the afternoon. They put on 2 musicals a year, plus we have at least 2 normal plays. The PA musicals are always awesome, and the lead parts are always played by PA people, but anyone can try out for supporting roles. I love to sing and I think I'd be a good actress, but I'm always too nervous to try out or I just don't have time.

We have a smaller high school so everyone that tries out bascialy gets some thing to do.

Ours is similar, the same people always get the main roles. Just for once I wish I could be confident enough to show them that I would be able to do it. I think it's just because Im not confident enough, not because I dont have the talent for it. Next audition Im gonna wow them all!

Sorry, I just read my message and it's hardly anything to do with the original post, it was just me having one of my moments!

yup..ours is the same way. its always the same kids time after time that get the acting roles or the singing solos in like the chorus. i never try out for any of that stuff. I have NO music talent whatsoever.

I GET IT!
all guys automatically make the show...my friend Michael is the lead again this year! lol
except our school does crap musicals! like last year we did Oliver!(thats ok!), yea rbefore Pippin(yuck!) and this year we are doing Honk! I was actually gonan do the musical but I don't wanna be an animal!

but the same people do get cast alot but here everyone makes the musical...they just get all dumped into chorus

our school has like 2500 people and only like 100 or less people try out...I dunno what the deal is! lol
