My 84 year old grandpa was at his local candy store when a young guy bumped into him and apologized. Little did he know he was picking his pocket! He didn't realize it till after it was too late and the guy was long gone. He got away with his whole wallet. He told me he didn't have any money in it cause he always keeps his cash in his front pocket, but is upset to have the wallet stolen because it was filled with pictures of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was also a cherished picture of my deceased grandmother in the wallet. The theif also got all his important cards and his debit card and spent $124. Thankfully the bank is covering that amount, cancelled the card and is sending him a new one.

I love him dearly and he has always been such a wonderful grandfather. He shares my love of Disneyworld and still enjoys going there. He will be 85 this 4th of July and is in the best shape and health ever! I am so thankful he is ok and wasn't injured by the looser who robbed him. thanks for letting me share, I am just so upset that this happened to him.

That is simply unbelievable. I cannot stand theives, and hopefully they catch this guy trying to use your grandfather's card!

Horrible.

Maybe someone will find the ditched wallet 'n get it back to your grandpa.

 I am so sorry that this happened to him. I don't know what is up with people who do this.:headache:

Last month my Dh's grandmother was shopping at a local grocery store and when she went to put her items in the car, a truck rushed around behind her & a girl jumped out and pulled on her arm to get her purse. Since it was around her neck, she nearly pulled her down. Another couple saw what was happening and the man rushed to help her. The punk in the truck screamed for the girl to get back in, and they sped away. Not fast enough though because someone got the tag number & they were arrested.

Like your granddad, she didn't carry much cash at all, but they didn't get her purse. It just scared her half to death, God love her. I honestly think that they do these things for drug money or something. :sad2:

My DD14 phone was lifted from her back pack yesterday.

Called the cops, have a tracker on it. Cops wont enter the house based on that device. They ask if it was insured (translation: We arent getting your phone bak)

I have been texting the phone every so often telling them I see them and giving the location. Im watching you.....

Got a text back cuss word off. Well, I got a little satisfaction out of this. LOL

That is so sick! people are disgusting! I had someone just 2 weeks ago, wait until I was in the bank to walk up to my car and physically rip off my sideview mirror. People are absolutely disgusting.

Call your cell phone company!! STOP letting the thief use your phone that you are paying for!!!!

Here is what I do. The phone is suspended. I go on, activate it, locate it, send a text to the person telling them I see them and I am watching them. When the map comes up, I google maps the location, and tell them what the house looks like. I wait 5 minutes (usually get a cussed laden response), then suspend the phone again.

OP Is it possible to post a few flyers and a small reward for finding the wallet? You never know.. you may actually get the pics back!

Now watch, the thief will be the one cashing in on the reward!:confused3

Wow  to the grandfather and the grandmother that were robbed. Given that it was young people committing the acts, all I can say is they probably have never been taught better and (also) don't know that many elderly live on fixed incomes. So what if they, the young person, is short on money (for whatever reason)...probably the elderly person is as well.

I'm glad the would be purse snatchers got arrested and I hope the guy ditched your grandpa's wallet and his pictures are returned to him. I'm glad neither of the grandparents were hurt!

This sounds dangerous to me....if they know your daughter or where you live you don't know what could happen.

So sorry this happened to your grandfather. As a previous poster said I hope it's found and the pictures are returned.

How awful for your Grandfather....

makes me feel sick (not to mention angry:mad:)to think some people could do this to another person. Hopefully someone will find the wallet and realise it has sentimental value.

I'd be down right ashamed if someone I knew had done that to an elderly man....

Almost this exact scenario happened to my eldery mother in her grocery store parking lot except her accoster was on foot. A car full of women saw what was happening, pulled up beside them, got out, and the perp ran off.

I was literally crazed when I found out. The mental image of someone accosting my dear, sweet mother was almost too horrible to comprehend. Our family then made the decision that we didn't want her in store parking lots by herself any longer.

The elderly are sitting targets, partly because they are easier prey and I wonder too, if it also isn't because they are one the few groups still routinely carrying larger sums of cash vs others relying on debit cards.

OP, I so hope your grandfather is able to retrieve the photos.

I too hope that your DGF is able to recover his wallet and his pictures:hug:
