My grandfather died Sunday, but that's not exactly why I'm posting. I wanted to tell you all what it's going to be like at his funeral. He is probably the most unique person... First of all, he's going to be guried in a Hawaiian (Spelling?) shirt, khaki shorts, flip-flops, and a do-rag (he has no hair anymore). We're playing Jimmy Buffet at his memorial. And probably most unique of all, his obituary. I'm going to see if I can get it and post the appropriate parts (he wrote it himself, and has some no-so-nice things he put in  ). I wish more people would have this view on death. He mentions how he's just going to a better place for all Parrotheads. Yep, that's Grandpa.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa, but I think that it's great that you and your family can use this mourning time as a celebration of his life. Afterall isn't that what a funeral is supposed to be about?

I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa, I can relate, my grandma died a month ago. He sounds like a cool guy! :grouphug:

I'd love to hear the obituary. I'm sorry for your loss. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I recently lost my grandfather. well. at the time he wasn't. but in a month he would have been. He was the closest thing I ever had to one. my dad adopted me last month (recently step dad, now real dad) and his father died on new years eve. I still call him my grandfather, because in every sence except legally, he was. I was listed in the Obit as his granddaughter, and that meant alot to me.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa! :grouphug:

He seemed like a really fun and unique person, and you'll have all the memories of him forever! :)

Yeah, he was great. I haven't gotten the obituary yet, but they've promised it's good. Although, Mom's great-uncle did call, he wasn't too happy about it. But she didn't care, since he wrote it himself. If any of you live in/around Knoxville and get the Sentinel (spelling?), look for Michael Sewell.

What a way to go!!

I'm sorry for your loss, but I think that funeral sounds awesome!! When I die (hopefully not for a long time!) I want a fun funeral too. I don't want people crying over me, I want Aerosmith playing, beer, and dancing!! Heck. I might even come back from the dead just to party with everyone else!! ;)

I'm so sorry. I feel so bad. But the truth is he's looking down on you thinking of how proud he is to have sucha great grandchild

i'm sorry about your grandfather. i kind of know how you feel. my dad died when i was five and then my great aunt died this september while i was at school, but i was getting to be pretty close with her.

at my funeral, no one is alowed to wear black, because i hate black unless it has colorful accents( i think ill have a bouncer at the door and if anyone is wearing black, they arent allowed in). and i want them to show a slide show of my life and how great my life was. i dont want people to mourn over me, i want them to celebrate my life. because i hate being sad from all the deaths in my life, and i dont want people to feel the way i felt when my dad and aunt died, when im dead.

I want a fun funeral too. No crying, cool Disney and beach stuff, and a lot of pictures. I think that's a must. My favorite kinds of music, not just the slow music that everyone else plays. But hey, Grandpa got someone to play him a Buffet mix, so that's a step up, although his sister insists on playing dreary music. I'm almost ready to go now. But yeah, someone should start a thing of "fun funerals". Isn't a funeral a celebration of life? So celebrate that they're going to a better place! There's no way they would want a group of crying people dressed in black being depressed. That might just depress them too!

my grandpa died in november. I know how you feel. I've never lost anyone so close to me...... and like you said, he was the coolest person ever!

I'm so sorry to hear that. Your grandpa sounds like he was an awesome guy. I think it's great that y'all are taking this time to celebrate himand his life and I think more people should do the same. I'm sorry to hear about your loss and prayers and pixiedust: are being sent your way! :grouphug:
