I found out that I passed the final part of my subspecialty boards this week! This is so huge to me. It's been a lot of very difficult years to get here and I'm so excited.
4 years undergrad
2 years post-bac (to finish my science requirements)
4 years med school
6 years of residency
2 years of fellowship (during which time I lived 200 miles away from my DH while raising 2 children under the age of 3)
I took 3 parts of the USMLE exam to get my license. I took specialty written boards. Submitted a case log to get "approved" to take oral boards. Flew to Dallas for oral boards. Submitted case log to get "approved" to take subspecialty boards. And finally I took my subspecialty boards and - amazingly enough - passed!!!
I still have to "maintain certification" which means case logs and re-cert exams but I feel like I've passed the final hurdle!
Thanks for letting me share my happy news!
Amanda
PS I also was approved for a raise by my hospital which is awesome (and will hopefully allow us to take MORE trips to Disney!)
