My goal is to lose 40lbs this year.

Hmmm...I think I posted on this thread before, but then again, I have a two year old and forget things :lmao:.

Since Jan 1, I have lost 8.5 lbs (from my highest wt. off 199.5), so down to 191.5. I am doing South Beach, but I think the metformin my dr put me on for my insulin resistence is helping as well.

I'm enjoying reading all the updates! Yay for all the success!

Glad to hear it. That metformin is all purpose. Did you know its also used as a fertility drug?

Down another 2.5lbs to bring it 5 altogether. Between the weather and Aunt Flo its been a terrible week for working out, and walking the dog, so I have no idea how this happened. But I will definitely take the loss. Will be a much better week from now to next Sat. even with the weather.

ON the cookbook front I have decided not to buy the Hungry Girl or the Cook Yourself Thin books. There's just so much in both of them that would make them a waste of money for me.

Mostly I'm looking for main meals recipes, If I'm going to have dessert I'm going to have a nice sugary dessert. Since we really don't have dessert often anyway, I don't see the harm in it.

There was 1 recipe in the Cook Yourself Thin Book that I really liked but to sit down and copy it by hand in Target is not cool. So I'm wondering if any of you have the book. The recipe was for Pork and Apples. It seemed to be all a 1 skillet thing and sounded great. If you have it could you send it to me or post it here?

TIA

Everybody have a great weekend. If you're getting the blizzard don't overdo with the shoveling.

How is everyone doing this week?

Just back from weigh in and down 1.8 this week.

Still doing the Wii Active and going to tap class again tonight. :dancer:

My update...

At 9 lbs as of two days ago. BUT...I am not going to weigh myself for a few days. DH came home with a BIG bag of Valentine M&Ms :sad2: and I have been bad. Luckily, he finished them off last night, so I'm getting back on the bandwagon.

I figure a few more days, and it will be safe to get back on the scale :lmao:.

Good job, so far, everyone!

Since December 28th when my new "lifestyle" begain I have lost 32 pounds. Thats a little over five pounds a week for 6 weeks. I know it will slow down but am continuing to be good and exercise.

Hiya

I've been going to the gym practically every single day. It's gotten to a point where it's a place for me to unwind, forget about things, and just close myself off from the world for a little while and have some "me time". Which is kinda funny considering there are usually a bazillion people there  I tend to go on my lunch break, which only gives me a half an hour with traveling to and from and dressing/cleanup, but that gets me a mile on the elliptical and about 350 calories burned, which is good :thumbsup2 Been getting easier tho, I think it's time to step it up!

My weigh in isn't 'til tomorrow, but I'm naughty and do in-between weighs when noone's looking :upsidedow Yesterday I hopped on the scale (busted by DD who was with me but I still checked the weight, lol) and I'm FINALLY out of the teens! I was at 212 as of yesterday evening  :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1:  It was awesome to see, I was SO happy.

I have a current mini-goal of 210 by Valentine's Day; I'm not sure I'll be able to do 2 pounds in the next 4 days, but even if I'm close that's okay with me! I've been working really hard at this and I feel pretty proud of my progress so far.

I love reading the progress stories people post here; it's nice to see that so many people are so motivated to get healthy! I totally understand that this is a very "weak" time of year; if my husband even THINKS about getting me chocolate for Valentine's Day... well, I'm sure he won't ;)

So how's everyone doin'?? :yay:

Official weigh in today for me. Since Sat. I'm up a half lb. Not sure how that happened. I wonder if I naturally gain weight when I'm ovulating:confused3

Anyway, no big deal as it will go back down again i know.

The workout set I ordered came last night and I jumped right in. OMG I've forgotten how coordinated I am NOT. Its going to take quite a bit of practice for me to get some of these steps down. But the good news is Stephanie is NOT trying to kill me:rotfl2: So i feel comfortable piggy backing my ball workouts on top of that since each of her workouts is just 20 minutes. Its just a matter of experimenting to see which section of my ball dvd works with each section of Stephanie's. And I'm not sure I'll do both every day, but I will definitely be keeping up with both.

Great job to all of us for sticking with our new lifestyles.

That's close but not the 1 I'm looking for. Its out of the new book apparently. And I don't think I'm a fan of Hungry Girl. I'm really not interested in tofu and that stuff. I just want to eat regular food healthier KWIM.

OMG, that Biggest Loser weightloss rate. I've watched a couple of those shows and that is fantastic. I'm not even trying to lose that much in a week. :rotfl:

Well as I posted earlier Step one is (and I do not recommend this for anyone) I had a heart attack. (see earlier post)

Step two: Accept what you are doing as not a diet, but rather a lifestyle change. The very idea of a diet is that when you reach a goal you will not continue but allow yourself to cheat and have treats which will to soon take you back to where you were.

Step three: Change what you eat, the way you eat, when you eat and how you eat. I have embarked on a low fat, low sodium diet that will become the norm in my life. I am the cook in my family so by default my DW is experiencing the change as well. I am not following any cookbook recipes but rather coming up with my own so that I know exactly what goes into what I am eating. I eat primarily chicken and fish, and a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. This posses a problem because it means more frequent trips to the store as the fresh stuff does not last to long. I stocked the kitchen with a lot of fresh herbs and spices since salt is restricted. I like to brown chicken breasts and then flavor them with the vegetables. One night I sauteed onions, garlic, bell pepper, celery, and carrots with a teaspoon of olive oil, stirred in chopped mangos and some orange juice at the end and spooned that over the browned chicken breasts and baked it for about 10 minutes to finish it. I cooked rice in half water, half orange juice and served the chicken with the vegetables over the rice with a salad and that was dinner. Low fat, low sodium.

Also if you do use any canned products such as tomato sauce or paste, get the low sodium variety. I use a lot of crushed tomatos and have found Contadina has the lowest amount of sodium. One night I made a Ratatoulle kind of dinner with onions, carrots, garlic, yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, bell peppers and a can of crushed tomatos and a small can of tomato paste (no sodium) and served it over rice with a salad. These meals fill us up and are great for weight loss.

I eat special K or Rice Crispies for breakfast with 2% milk and lunch is a salad with chicken or a turkey sandwich with no cheese and lots of lettuce and tomatos and onions and pickles.

Finally, there is shear will power. I do not snack between meals, drink a lot of water, and walk, get on the stair stepper, or weight machine every day.

For me the low fat/ no fat diet works wonders.

I was very glad to find this thread. After finishing a round of Biggest Loser -Power Sculpt I did a search on the boards to see if anyone recommended any exercise videos. I need something that gets me moving more and shredding the lbs!

I am 32 and very overweight. I have ignored this for some time. My husband loves to work out and I struggle to use the treadmill in our home! This makes it hard. He has a high metabolism and can eat anything he likes and I cannot. I love food and trying new recipies, but I need a lifestyle change for certain to become more healthy.

I did not know anything about the WISH board and I am glad I do now. I will certainly check it out. I would love to lose one pant size by the end of April (our trip to WDW) and 40lbs by years end.

Congrats to all of you on your progress! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!!! :yay: Take care of yourself now so you can do so in the future. I now need to take my own advice.

Tonight I am going to go out and get either Biggest Loser Cardio Max or Jillian Michales 30 day shred dvd to increase the cardio.

Bumping this thread to see how everyone is doing.

So far so good here. No huge losses but I am going well wil 1-2lbs/week.

Well I started exercising in late October 2009- added a diet in mid Jan 2010 to that. total as of today I am down 33 lbs... I have 67 more to go to hit my ideal goal weight. I don't know if I will want to go that far but we will see.

I just booked a surprise WDW trip for my son 5/18/10 so my goal will be to try and be 45 lbs down by that trip for me that would be awesome and I would be right around the 200lb mark.

good luck to all trying to get healthy.

Let's see... I started on December 5, officially, just after I was told that I was too fat to donate part of my liver to my mom. Since then, as of Sunday, I've lost 39 lbs. :woohoo: I have another 15-20 or so to go before they'll allow me to donate, but I talked to the coordinator at the hospital yesterday, and he's willing to start the process to have me be a donor, because it DOES take time and at LEAST three appointments before I can be considered.

I'm down 29 (as of my official weighin last Friday). I only have 4 more to go till the goal I set, but I'm wondering whether I want to lose more.

:woohoo: :cool1:  :cool1: :woohoo:

Just had my official weigh-in at the gym this morning, and I'm down forty pounds!! I was very excited; three more pounds will get me to my birthday goal, and exactly two weeks to lose it... :yay:
