Ok, I am newly gluten free (about 5 months!) and our first trip to the world since. We are on the dining plan and planning on using snacks for BabyCakes, gf beignets, and curious if anyone has found a gf pretzel at WDW.

Arrival: airport lunch (Starbucks hummus and veggies or Chick-fil-A grilled nuggets), dinner at 1900 Park Fare
Day 1: quick service lunch (The Land maybe), Teppen Edo dinner (this is the one meal I am worried about but my husband and daughter love it)
Day 2: Crystal Palace Breakfast, Pecos Bill lunch
Day 3: Donald's Safari Breakfast, Restrauntasoures quick service
Day 4: Vera Bradley release party! early lunch at Pucks, dinner at Backlot Express
Day 5: Akershus Breakfast, Morroco qs later
Day 6: Chef Mickey's breakfast, Cosmic Rays later
departure day: O'hana breakfast, resort lunch (POR)

We are on the dining plan and have late breakfast scheduled each day and I have talked to the restaurants and they can also prepare gf lunch items if they have the buffet set up on one side so it will add to the options!

Does anyone have good, bad, indifferent experiences with these restaurants? My husband and my 3 year old each picked out a box of granola bars to carry for early breakfast while getting ready. I packed a box of chocolate chex and ziploc baggies :) I need to boil the eggs that are left on my fridge so I do not have any cleanup other than taking out the trash when we leave for the airport Tuesday morning.

You can eat GF pretty much anywhere at WDW. I don't know about the pretzel. We like Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom for quick service lunch. In Epcot, you can get GF at the land but IMHO it's a bit boring when you have all of world showcase to choose from. We have gotten good GF food at Mexico and Morocco (in the quick service restaurants). No idea about Teppen Edo because we never ate there. The chefs are all very knowledgeable though and I'm sure you will be in good hands.

Agree with last post - you can find GF all over. But --- be prepared to wait at the CS locations. Wait and wait and wait. You have to figure out at each location where you need to go to talk to the manager. Then they have to cook it especially for you. So be prepared for your family to be done eating when your meal arrives. For this reason, my son (our GF family member) prefers to bring items from home and just supplement with fresh fruit in the parks. Then we are having cereal for breakfast, he gets his CS meal from our resort's CS counter -- typically Mickey waffles!

We just freeze some deli meats and bread and bring them with us in a cooler and take out what he needs for each day and carry a very small cooler with us for his CS lunch or dinner. Then he adds his GF chips or pretzels with fresh fruit and/or carrot sticks from brothers kids meal. (He "trades" some chips for carrot sticks/fruit and little brother thinks that is a great deal!)

We also have individual serving nut butter to make a sandwich, if he likes.

If you like salads, then you might be able to get pre-mades in a few CS locations.

The one CS in the parks where we were able to get GF with no wait -- The Land's food court.

As someone who has gone to WDW before and after gluten free eating, I have to say that I understand why you are nervous, but I would say that you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find. I LOVE the choices you have made for your meals. Dinner at Park Fare has lots of options right on the buffet and then they have been great at making us a nice dessert out back. Ohana breakfast is our favorite GF breakfast at Disney. The amount of great food you get that is safe to eat is amazing. And don't feel shy about asking for more Mickey Waffles!

I do have to say that we have not loved Akershus for breakfast. The food was ok, but they only had Vans Waffles and the potaotes are bland. But, of course the characters are amazing making it still a great choice :cool1:

Have a great trip!

good plan. i have not eaten at most of those restaurants, but i can say i was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to eat at buffets.

about CS, i agree about the wait. the second year we had a better strategy. CS for some breakfast as i could easily get an omelette with potatos without waiting longer than others. for lunch we found it was sometimes easier to leave the park and eat at our foodcourt. it was really quiet at mid day and while i had a wait, it was not nearly as bad as in the parks.

the land is my favorite CS. its nice to go up to a station and just pick out your food like everyone else. plus since its foodcourt like the GF cookies/brownies are out with the other food, no wait for them to dig them up.

as for your chex, not much protein. i recommend kind bars, think thin bars, or nature valley has these GF nut bars. if you do bring chex might want to throw in nuts and raisins/craisins to make it more a trail mix. i know with all that moving around in the parks i get hungrier than normal and my blood sugar would crash with just a handful of chex.

also if you need to eat dinner in the airport they have an outback at MCO.

overall you are going to be amazed at how good you eat. the first year i overdosed on bread, cookies, brownies, and waffles. the second year i took the desserts to go or got fruit some days. :goodvibes

This thread is encouraging. I agree about needing the protein. Breakfast is the harder to deal with meal for me because so many want to give the higher carb options. Although I will admit I'm hoping to find some Mickey Waffles at least one morning. We don't have any breakfast TS ADRs and we are staying at Coronado Springs.....anyone know if they have GF Mickey waffles, or if any of the parks will have a GF version?

I feel like I asked this before but don't have my notebook in front of me to see so since this is a GF thread I'll ask again.

Thank you for all the reviews and tricks! I decided to through in a couple quarts of almond milk so I can get a little protein in the morning. Our ts meals are all around 1030-11 and will serve as our full breakfast. Our qs dinners will probably be around 5-6ish with a snack midday for us and another snack (or 2) after dinner late night and we will all 3 share snacks throughout the day. I was gluttened yesterday ordering a bun-less burger so I will be dealing with mouth ulcers the first few days. I will probably be making a dining/ trip report but I have a flight to catch in 11 hours! Wish me luck :yay:

After last nights dinner at 1900, I don't know if it can be topped. Gni rolls, salmon, and much more! Off early this morning (forgot to turn off my work alarm) and wandering to POFQ for the biengets I have heard so much about!

I could die now! Beignets are amazing! I will be posting a full dining and trip report with pics when we get home

Did you have to give advance notice for the beignets? I can't wait to try them. Just a warning that electric umbrella has the worst CS GF food in the World. And cosmic rays isn't that great either.

Do they have a dedicated allergy fryer now for bengiets at PO-FQ? In the past we had issues with them not have a dedicated fryer in terms of soy allergy....

Teppen edo- they do gf first. Then everyone else to insure no cross contamination. Both DD gf and always fine. All ts and cs are great to work with.

We did figure out at CS locations to just find the manager first. They were usually standing somewhere around the registers. We just went directly to them if possible before going to the register. It sped the process up considerably.

I hate to be a Debby Downer but I won't stay at CSR because of their allergy dining options. Their restaurants are not owned or operated by Disney. Pepper Market does not get good allergy reviews. Years ago we did eat at the TS location and the chef was great but he didn't have a lot to work with so our meals were boring though they were at least safe and tasted good. Note that we eat a lot of meals at our resort so dining options is very high on our resort priority list. If you won't be eating much at your resort then this shouldn't deter you from staying at CSR.

On a MK morning you can walk to the Contemporary and get some Mickey waffles at Contempo Cafe or hop the monorail and get them at Captain Cook's at the Polynesian (if they're still open during your trip).
