What our 3 day, 2 night trip cost...

Park Tickets
----------------
MYW 6 Day Passes through the MouseSavers Undercover Tourist Link (2): $609.90

Upgrade to AP (2): $223.66

TOTAL: $833.56
SAVINGS: $58.92 :woohoo:

----------------

Tables in Wonderland $75

Rental Car
----------------
Midsize Car 3 days: $40.63 :cool1:
---------------

Food (3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 2 Dinners, 2 snacks-4 sitdowns X2 plus child)
---------------
TOTAL: $254.32
Savings through TIW: $41.97
Savings over Meal Plan: $87.76

Daily Cost: $63.58 per adult (but this doesn't take into account the food we ordered for the child so it should be a little less)

Granted, with the meal plan we would have had 2 additional sit downs instead of counter service meals and 2 more snacks but we ate exactly what, when, and where we wanted- at sitdown lunch we had no dessert, 2 apps, and shared an entree for example. Also, we didn't buy resort mugs.
-----------------

Our plane tickets were bought with Southwest canceled flight credit. We used our Disney rewards card to fund meals. Our cost out of pocket was only for TIW, AP upgrade, and rental car!

I wanted to do this to get a good idea of how much these trips will cost. I think budgeting $60 per day for food per adult will work for us for trips where we don't cook (studio stays). Also, I wanted to prove to myself that the meal plan wouldn't have saved us money. I did. :woohoo:

TOTAL COST: $593.61

In the future costs will be rental car should we choose to have one and food. :wizard:

Thanks! Trying to decide between tiw and meal plan for our next trip. Looks like I need more analysis.

We just returned from a 2 week trip and we used DDP week 1 CS and week 2 TS it was to much food to eat. We use all of the snacks for gifts and we also brought the extra set of refill mugs back as gifts.

The DDP can definitely save you money if you use it right, but my biggest problem with it is that you have to plan your whole trip around your dining reservations. I don't want to "wait" for a table without the reservation, and if it's a busy time, you won't get a table. I just find our trip much more relaxing without it.

Our next trip we'll definitely be using TIW. My wife is going to take my daughter and mother for a Cinderella Castle Breakfast. That alone is a $30 with the card. My wife and I over the trip will save another $20 at least on alcoholic drinks (2 drinks a day per person over a 5 night trip is conservative estimate.) With meals over the rest of the time with us and my mother & stepdad, we should certain make up the $100 price it costs. I'm hoping to be able to get my brother the additional card, so it we split it $75 a piece so he can use it on his trip in Dec. We'll see if they let me do that.
