my gardenia bush is blooming

Five flowers open this morning and loads more to come. I wish i could send the smell through the computer so you all could enjoy it. It's heavenly.

According to my sister, gardenia is my mom's favorite flower and when she turned 80 two years ago, my sister wanted me to get her a corsage of gardenias but the florist said he wouldn't do it because they are fragile and turn brown real quickly as a corsage. I also believe they are not easy to grow in our zone.

I have a friend in Duxbury, Massachusetts who has two magnificent gardenia bushes in her house. She has the perfect spot for them - on either side of french doors. So I guess it can be done if you have the right spot. Fairly cool and bright light, but not too sunny if that makes sense.

Ahhhh....it must smell wonderful!! The closest I get to Gardenia is my Crabtree & Evelyn bath/shower gel.
