FOR ME!!

Everyone else made money, though! The kids' "lemonade/hot cocoa/brownie/danish" was the hit of the day! My sisters, who could have cared LESS about the sale but through some items in anyway, made more money than I did standing out there FREEZING!!

The kids got over with the "cute appeal". Michael chirped up with the "Good morning! Would you like to try a brownie or a danish?" and it got everyone who showed up. Even the ladies who insisted they were on a diet settled for the "hot chocolate" Michael so kindly offered if they looked a little chilly... :rolleyes:

My aunt put out a collection of authentic Disney caps her kids got her when she was on chemo. Even I bought one!

As for me, well, I ended up hauling most of my JUNK back down to my parent's basement...

... after I risked life and limb putting up signs and making all of the baked goods and placing the newspaper ad, I figure I'm about 20 in the hole!!

If I mention something like this again will someone link me to this post, PLEASE!

hey Robin,
If you'd like to donate your unwanted items, I know a charitable group who might be interested.....:D

Robin, sorry to hear your yard sale was a bust. It can be frustrating, especially when you put a lot of time and effort into the preparations.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

I didn't do well on one I did either... so no, its not your fault.

Just give to charity. Thats what I do now. I can write off and do it quicker than deal with the hassle of a garage sale.

Have you ever considered trying to sell a few of your items on Ebay? I'd say selling on EBay before the holidays would be a great time to sell stuff.

Maybe just pull out a couple of your items and do a search on Ebay and see if those things are selling and for how much.

Thanks, guys. Actually I donate twice a month to a great store here in Atlanta, the Last Chance Thrift Shop who donates all of their profits to the Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities. They have a half price sale every Monday and I lug in all of the stuff Michael can't fit or I don't want!

This sale was mostly for my sisters and my aunt, who just moved down from New York and sort of inherited all of my Mom's stuff so her stuff was cluttering the house. We deliberately did not sell anything of my Mom's but my sweet little Daddy donated his suit and a bathrobe he doesn't wear anymore. Even my Uncle donated his old clothes and made a profit!

So it wasn't a TOTAL bust, just for me! :p I'll survive I guess!

Geezzeee Robin.. that was a lot of effort; I'm so sorry it didn't go well for you. . :(

Maybe Michael will loan you a few bucks out his hot chocolate profits. . ;)
