Ugh...I am absolutely distraught. My wonderful cat Gandalf has been missing for 48 hours :guilty: We have another cat who sneaks outside if someone leaves the door open too long and apparently the other night while my DD's and DH were bringing in groceries, both cats got out. We found Petey (my other cat) right away (figures, he's the one who starts the trouble and the only one to come home), but we've been unable to find Gandalf. My DH thought he saw him outside this morning, so that gave me hope, but a little while ago I was out searching and saw a cat that looked just like Gandalf but upon closer inspection, I saw this cat had white paws and Gandalf has black paws..and my cat has a collar and this one did not.

I'm really upset now; we've had this cat for 6 years and he is truly the best furbaby I've ever had. We rescued him from a shelter years ago and he was so withdrawn and never would be affectionate and now he is just the sweetest little thing..cuddles and nuzzles with everyone. I'm really worried because he has been outside 2 nights in a row now and it's getting pretty darn cold out and we live in an area in Reno where there are lots of coyotes :guilty:

Please, please send us some pixie dust so that we can find Gandalf soon..I have no idea what I'll do if he's really gone. Thank you :grouphug:

LOTS of pixie dust and prayers heading your way!!!

What a worry...but keep the faith..kitties get themselves into some 'pickles' sometimes!! I once 'lost' a cat for a week and he had gotten himself into a garage (ours!) and we had nooo idea!!

I will look for a good update soon!!! :thumbsup2

Sending lots and lots of prayers and pixie dust for Gandalf's safe return. This happened with my favorite furbaby Sam and I know the terrible feeling that you have :guilty:. I hope he comes trotting right home! :cat:

I am so sorry and I hope you find him right away !!!! Hey how much black is in your cat, I ask this because it's Halloween. If your Cat has a lot of black or white in him you might want to try to call some place like animal police right away and have them look for him and get him off the streets right away !!!!

To anyone who has Cats especially if they are Black, keep them inside for the WHOLE night. Cats are a target on this day especially black ones. White Cats are also a big target on this day and the second biggest targets after black cats !!!

I hope you find your furbaby soon.

Oh, I have been in your shoes! Freddie ended up going into our neighbor's garage and they closed the door on him. All that time we spent fretting, he was warm and toasty and safe the whole time. Sending lots of Pixie Dust your way.

I prayed to Saint Frances and God for your furbaby to come back sefely. Don't give up hope, lots of happy endings to missing pets here on the Dis. board. :grouphug:

Hope he comes home soon. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: Check your neighbors sheds and garages etc. Sometimes they get caught inside if the door was left open.

Hope your Gandalf comes home soon. We have a Gandalf also. An indoor cat though.

lots of pixie dust coming your way! We moved in July and had 2 cats. Both indoor cats. As we moved, our front door was open all the time, so they BOTH got out. I was freaking out!! We could not find either one of them! Finally, 2 days later, my DH went back to the old house (we still own it, renting it out now and he went over there to clean and paint for the renters) and found one of the cats. The friendlier of the 2 and my baby! The boy is still missing to this day! I feel incredibly guilty because I should have put them in the carrier, even though they would have had to stay in there for the whole day! I figured he would eventually show up and even told the renters that we are missing a cat and to call us if they see him, but they haven't seen him once! :guilty:

Lots and lots of pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust:

Cats are amazing and although they get themselves into trouble, have a way of getting out of trouble too. I have two cats now...big ol' babies and I love them very much so I know how you feel. I have two stories to share with you...maybe give you some hope.

One of the cats I have now...Roxy. I live in the country but like to keep the cats inside. Two years ago we go on a long vacation (Myrtle Beach) and my mom takes care of the cats. When she came in one day, Roxy darts outside. Probably tired of being cooped up. My mom searched for her for days. Called her, left food. Nothing. We were gone nearly 3 weeks and still...no Roxy. I was heartbroken (nobody else knew yet) and my mom felt so bad. We start to unpack the camper and guess who comes strolling up the hill? Yep, Roxy. Little devil. I just don't think she liked the change in routine or being in a house without her people. Now she will disappear for days in the summer but now that it's cold she's right here inside. Best thing is, both cats have been trained to ask to go outside to potty. They think they are dogs. I still have a liter box but it's rarely used.

Second story is better. About 20 years ago (oh boy can't believe it's been that long) I had a cat and was still living at home with my parents. Now, this part is kind of hard to explain....but my parents property is connected with our business property in the country. We have lots of implement trucks hauling out farm machinery from our business. One day my cat, Annie, disappeared. I searched high and low for her. As a young woman with no boyfriend, kids in my life....my cat was everything. I never found her. Until THREE months later. No joke. She showed up at our door, very skinny and hungry. Mystery...right? Well we were able to piece some of it together. The day she disappeared we had a truck in that took some machinery 15 miles away. This customer REMEMBERS seeing a gray cat come off his truck!!!! We think she rode the entire way to another town and it took her that long to get back to us!!!!!!! Cats are AMAZING!! Keep your spirits up!!!!! Sorry this is so long!

Thank you all for your well wishes and your stories; they are all extremely comforting. While we were out Trick Or Treating tonight, I kept an eye out, but Gandalf is pretty skittish, so I doubt he'd come strolling out with an abundance of people around. I will look again before I go to bed tonight, as will my DH..we left some food outside so I hope he gets hungry and finds his way. I miss snuggling with him at night before I go to bed :guilty:

:grouphug: And lots of pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: headed your way.

Our !7 year old cat Tabby was missing 3 nights during the 90 degree days in July.
We were lucky and I thank all my fellow DISners who sent prayers, hugs, and pixie dust our way. He just showed up in our yard late the 3rd night and we think he must have gotten locked in someone's garage.

I hope Gandalf returns soon.

Please keep us posted.

Oh I really am hoping for a happy ending...I know how heavy your heart must be.

I have 2 kitties...and feed a little stray outside that after 1.5 years will still not come near me. I worry even when he/she misses a night..so I know how you feel.

Maybe he's just kicking his paws up and will stroll back when he feels like it!
