My furbabies and Pounce

My 2 rescued furbabies are about 3 months old now and the older cats are tolerating them quite well. Little Red who is a little bigger and can jump like nothing we have ever seen is so smart! We give them Pounce for treats which they love. Little Red, who has double paws, has discovered that if she bats the can around and then straddles it she can use those rabbit hind legs of hers to beat open the lid! She then proceeds to eat as many as she can get out and if the can is almost empty she bats it around until they fly out. This is the third time she has done this in a week! Poor Tink, who is the more sedate and calmer of the two, can't do this and waits until her partner in crime has opened and spread Pounce all over the house, lol! These cans are now being kept in the medicine cabinet for their own good, lol!

That is so funny! Cats are smarter than people give them credit for. Your cat sounds adorable.

Two of my cats do something like that too. I never know how they do it, because they do it when I am sleeping. I wake up in the morning with an empty container or package of treats.


What makes a real mess is when they get the catnip out of the drawer! One day i came home from work to find catnip all over the kitchen floor and up the stairs into my bedroom. They must have had one heck of a fun day.

For Christmas every year we get our 5 kitties a bag of really fresh, really good (so they tell me) catnip. We wrap it, stick it under the tree and watch how long it takes for them to find it... usually about 10 minutes! They love this stuff, and will carry the package out from under the tree, then rip it open and scatter it everywhere. We have to be careful where we put it then, because they will find it anywhere. Must be some strong smelling stuff, cause once they opened my dish cabinet and pulled it out!
