I rec'd this emotional email from my friend that I feel the need to share.
It truly hits home, as our son is a soldier, who recently returned from a yr in Ramadi Iraq and is due to redeploy to Iraq in Oct. for another year
. Please.... if you have a moment, could you kindly say quick prayer for this grief stricken family, our great nation, and for all those making huge sacrifices while proudly serving our country.
Part of my email:
My trip was ok until we got to Dallas. After we boarded the plane, we had a young Marine dress in full dress uniform come aboard. The captain came over the speaker to let us know that this young soldier was bringing home his buddy from Iraq, who had been killed in the war.
The Captain asked for passengers to please stay seated until the Marine and casket were off the plane. I was sitting by the window, exactally where the casket was unloaded. Passengers could see military personel waiting at attention. Sadly, the US flag placed over the casket, the young wife approaching the casket and family holding their baby. I could not believe my eyes as this young girl put her hands on her husband's casket and I could see her pain as she cried. The whole plane of passengers just sat in silence as we cry along with her. I just fell apart when the family brought the baby to her side. This soldier was barely a man - just 21 yrs old.
It brought back a lot of memories to me, just thinking that 33 years ago I could have been that young girl when Steve left for Viet-Nam and Stephaine was only 3 weeks old. I know this was also very hard for Steve to witness, as a retired AF pilot he transported many deceased soldiers home, and this scene reduced him to tears.
May God bless this young wife and her baby son as they face their future without a husband and father. God bless our troops that are paying the ultimate price for our country.
As I came out of to see my grandbabies, they could not begin to understand why their Nina was so upset and as I tried to explain to them in simple terms, they have so many questions that maybe someday they will understand.
It was also the first time in all my flying years that the Captain and Co-Captain were females and they did a wonderful job! This indeed will be a trip that we will always remember.

I need to go find the tissues....

That was so very sad. God Bless our Troops and their families.
