I just thought this was funny. I got my free VWL lithograph with our addon. I really like it and decided to frame it. Just my luck, it was 11 by 13 inches, not a standard size. (Can Disney do anything normally??)
I'm not your do-it-yourselfer so when I noticed Michael's was having a 50% off custom framing sale I took it in. Picked out a nice wood frame, nothing frou-frou, and regular glass. Cost with the discount? $40.11!!!!
Now let me make it clear that I would never have paid $80 to frame anything and almost didn't pay $40, but since I was already there, etc....
Just hope next time they send me something it is 11 by 14 or 12 x16 or something normal!

Guess what size the BCV litograph is_____11x13 ! I bought an 11x14 mat and the only thing it covers is part of the little title window under the main picture, Mine now looks like the little picture just says Disney. Isn't perfect, but let me buy an 11x14 frame and save a few dollars. The litho is very nice, but why didn't Disney think about making this a standard size ?

I did the same with my BVC litho. Took it Michaels and got a wood frame with the regular glass nothing fancy and mine cost $48.91 even with the custom framing deal

At least you did a little better.

We have 2 lithos from original purchase and addon at WLVs. We recently took 1 of ours in to a local craft shop with intentions of getting a 11x14 frame and a mat to fill in the extra. Before I could get out of there my $10 frame and mat turned into $54 and I still dont have it in my hands yet.

The worst of it all was my DW laughing at me for paying so much. Oh well live and learn.

We did the same with our lithos (OKW+VB) and took them to Michaels, with 50% coupon. But after matting,non-glare glass, etc it came to around $40 each. But I think it is "worth the price", to see everyday a reminder of what we work for and have many memories of our vacations.
But in reality it is a small price to pay compared to initial purchases of DVC,dues, etc.;)

The 11x13 size is really an odd one. Well, I took matters into my own hands when we got our HH litho.
I found a nice wood frame at Target for $12.99, and didn't need a mat since the litho came with one. I left the plastic on the picture, measured and drew lines on the back, then cut 1/2" off of the top and the bottom. Keeping the plastic on while cutting helped keep everything together. Removed the plastic and it fits the frame perfectly and looks very nice.

Did the same for the BCV and VB add-on lithos, with the same matching frames from Target.

I have been dreading the cost to have the prints from HH matted and framed though... the ones they gave us when we bought there. We received three large prints. One is of the dogs that hangs in the kitchen area of the two bedroom units, one that hangs over the table in the second bedroom, and I can't think off-hand what the third one was. Anyone else get these and have them framed?

You don't even want to know how much it cost to frame the litho that I bought on the inaugural 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. To give you an idea, that litho was poster sized. And I had it framed by a local art dealer who does museum quality mounting. Yikes.

I don't have any lithos from any of the DVC's. That's OK, though. I don't have any more free wall space.

Just a question about these lithos, are they prints, paintings, what? Also, we are joining the DVC in October (BCV)! Will they send me one of these complimentary? thanks!

Jillpie,

Yes they are complimentary when you purchase DVC or do an add-on.
They are color prints of the resort that you purchase. They also sell the the same type prints, different sizes, at each DVC resort's souvaneir shop.:D

Since you are joining DVC in October........WELCOME HOME!!!!!

Yeah I posted my similar info back a few months ago when we got the VWL litho for our purchase. It was in repsonse to another users question on how others dealt with it being non standard size.

I did an oversized frame and just let a little gap on each side. I think I even posted a link to a photo of it. let me see if I can find it. Found the thread I answered HERE but I guess I didn't post a photo of it. I know I took one as I just deleted it the other day off an extra camera memory card.

we just purchased an addon at BCV. If we get a litho, I will prbably take the time to cut the mat down and get a proper frame. And my fiance's aunt works at Michaels and offered to do the framing for us, so I may take her up on the offer.

Mike

Ncligs, thank you! That sounds great. I can't wait. Does BCV have their own souvenir gift shop or do the guests use the BC one?

You are all lucky you live in larger cities where you can use a 50% off coupon! I live in a town of 9500 people. An actual city is over 100 miles away. When I got the lithograph from BCV, I really wanted it to look nice, and I couldn't find a frame at the local Walmart that even looked OK, so I decided to custom frame it. $94 later, I have a lovely picture, but I feel like telling Disney, "the next time, don't do me any favors."

this is just too funny! 11 x 13!! I love all the solutions you guys came up with!

My DH just got my OKW print framed - I was afraid to ask how much.. we ordered it from the artist over a year ago.. and now i see it every day before bed time, and just love it!

So, we pay the bucks, but do love the results!!!!

I do woodworking and made my own maple frame, did the matting, purchased the glass, total cost $11. Maybe I should advertise custom frames, sounds like I could make a small fortune!!

If you buy a resale (not thru Disney) do they still send the litho?

no lithos, no frames, no problems I guess...:)

I love my totes and my pins though.

I don't know what to do with my license plate though....here in NY you can't have it on your car. Maybe I'll frame that! Wait, let me measure it first......hmmmm uh oh 6" x 11 7/8" !!!

#1Mouse, with resales you don't get the "goodies" that you get when buying direct from Disney.

Jillpie, the shops in the resorts that are part DVC have a section devoted to member merchandise. You have to look carefully for it, it's a very tiny section.;) (Members are always asking for a better choice of items.)

I'm going to use an 11x14 frame, and add a strip of ribbon around the edge to hide the gap.
