My FP+ Window opened last night

I haven't been to Disney since the advent of full FP+ (we piloted it back in 2013, but paper FP was also still in use) and had never done the 60 day window thing. So I stayed up late last night to be ready at midnight (fortunately, there was a football game on to keep me up). Overall, I thought it went well. I got almost everything we wanted in the general time frame that we wanted. The only thing we missed on was SDMT on our 1st MK day. That was already gone. But we did get it later in the week and I'm guessing that one ride will be enough for my family and I (my boys are 12 & 9 and are into mega coasters).

Here are a few other observations:

  • The tiering thing does kind of suck, but I understand why they do it.
  • You can't individually pick your times. You have to pick the 3 attractions you want and then modify the times. I'd prefer a system where you booked them one by one.
  • I was also surprised that my ideal times weren't exactly available. Not a big deal, but most of the week I had to take 11:15 to 12:15 instead of 11 to 12, 2:45 to 3:45 instead of 3 to 4.
  • I do like the fact that I have TSMM booked for arrival day. We always do DHS on arrival day and until we got to pilot FP+, we always missed the FP's for TSMM by the time we arrived at the park.

Overall, I'm glad it is over. The only thing I have to do now is pay for the trip which is not due until later in the month and I'm not parting with my $ earlier than needed.

I'm glad it worked well for you! I will be trying to book FP+ for my first time in less than 2 weeks and hoping it goes as smoothly.

Agree with these. This is why I like FP+.

The main reason I finally got to ride on TSMM is because of FP+. I had gone on two previous trips to DHS in the last 10 years and both times we either didn't get to the park early enough to get a paper ticket or the return time did not work in our schedule and we simply did not want to wait 90+ minutes for an unknown ride when there are tons of "walk-on" attractions at the park.

We went back to DHS two weeks ago and with toddlers in tow, we didn't get to the park until 9:30, but had a FP for 10:30. At that time the wait was already 50+ minutes. I am glad I finally rode it. It was darn fun. A glorified arcade game for sure, but fun none-the less. I can see why the lines are so long as it is really the only kid-friendly ride at the park and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

The tiering does stink .. Epcot and DHS simply don't have enough attractions to spread out the Fast Passes in a system where almost everyone is using them. And because more than half of the FP attractions really don't need a FP (the shows) .. the big three rides at DHS would be the only things most people would grab.

My FP+ window opened last night as well. What I did was once I selected the attractions I wanted, I choose the option that had them in the order I wanted them (regardless of the times listed), then immediately hit modify to adjust the times to the preference I wanted. I found that if I selected, say 10:35-11:35am, and hit change, but then adjusted another attraction time, then went back to the first, I found slightly different times, and was able to pick say, 10:05-11:05am. I did that a few times, as I wanted to start my fast passes at a certain time to make sure we had enough time after breakfast ADRs to make it to the parks and to that FP. Overall, I was able to get what I wanted, including TSMM on our HS day and 7DMT on each of our MK days. Much easier to get 7DMT than this time last year. I am a fan of the new FP+. We are not RD people, and like to get into the parks late morning/or lunchtime, and stay til close, so the paper FP did not fit in well with our touring schedule. I love that I can adjust my FP on the fly with my phone app, and reschedule if necessary.
