My Fork and I Are Friends - Nov. 14 TR RL UPDATE 7/12 Pg. 22

I didn't know there was a limit on magic bands , I just counted and I have 6 . I am not sure how I have 6 as I counted 5 due to a split stay last December? What happens when you have 10 are you banned from Disney???:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I LOVE the gold Belle makeup look, of course :lovestruc

Wilderness Lodge!!! So stunning!!

Very interesting to know about the MagicBands, I hadn't heard that before!

Popadon is killing it in the pink shirt, btw.

Oh my gosh, waiting in that line sounds absolutely awful :(

Forks are great friends. Always there to lend a hand! I don't blame you one bit.

Love the make-up!

Holy long lines. I might have had a panic attack if I saw that. Sorry it made you miss your Soarin' window.

You food looks amazing! What exactly is a steamed bun? It looked kind of shiny. I hope to make it to F&W one of these years.

I love Papadon's pictures on the bus. Crazy!

Great updates, Danielle. Aggravation aside, the F&W goodies look GREAT! :goodvibes

I'll be honest. I do know exactly what your talking about, waking up 30 minutes before the alarm. However... I actually get pretty excited that I still have time. I look at the clock "Please please, don't be time". And when it's not... WINNING! Happened just this morning, lol.
This cracked me up. This is me. Well, I'm mad that I'm awake at 4AM, 4:30AM, 4:45AM, etc. EVERY day, but I am THRILLED that the 5:45 alarm isn't going off yet. "please, please, don't be time" - I mutter that every morning several times and then revel in the fact that there's another hour, and then another 45 minutes, and then another 30 minutes - somehow I overlook the fact that I'm NOT SLEEPING. :rotfl2:

LOL @ that Pop incident in the morning. Hysterical. And yes, blackmail, always good, always VERY good.

Love the Belle inspired make-up! So creative and gorj. You and Julia's shirts are fabulous too btw.

YAY Wilderness Lodge! Good to know about the MB thing although I doubt I'd have to worry about that. :/ OMG Popadon on the bus. He is quite the gem.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear about the ticket situation at EPCOT. I've never ever seen it that long. Wow. Glad it was a quick fix and you didn't have to wait too long. Hope you still got to go on Soarin' later that day!

Mmmmm, Food and Wine. It all looks so good. I'd totally go for that Mongolian Beef. Love how the title came from your usage of forks around the world lol

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Oooh, this is good to know - we may have a triple or quadruple split stay in May and I didn't realize that each would come with it's own Magic Band!

Yep, check out the second post on this page:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3154485&page=12

Yeah, it's kind of crazy that they send you a MB every time you have a resort stay, but they indeed do. I think if you have a MB already, they should give you the option.

That's just too funny. I have no class, so no table cloth is necessary for me. :lmao:

What a crazy morning! At least the food made up for it!

This request might be a little bit random, but would it be possible to borrow one of your spare Magic Bands for a short bit? My parents are retiring early next year and are leaving almost right away for Disney, and I was thinking about sewing a fabric cover for each of them. But they are the first people in our family to go to Disney since the Magic Bands were released and it would ruin the surprise if I asked them for the measurements after their bands arrive.

The food did make up for it.

I can give you the measurements for the MB if that would help. I don't know which ones are active and which ones aren't, so I'd rather keep them all together. But I can certainly measure it if that would help.

Joining in a little late, but I can't wait to read about your latest adventure!

I'm glad you're here! :thumbsup2

Another trip to Disney? Can't keep Popadon away for long. I'm going back to read but wanted to say hi.

There's always another trip to Disney. :rotfl2: We just can't stay away!

Subscribing! Love it so far, you guys are so much fun :goodvibes

Thanks, I'm glad you're here! We always have fun together so writing about the trips is a lot of fun.

I started to read this at work on Monday night and, sadly, I was interrupted before I could finish or comment.

Isn't it hard to just stay somewhere one night, especially when its a short night. It had to be hard to leave AK, but yay for VWL. :thumbsup2

I love your shirt. I remember she that on FB.

Your dad is such a goof ball.

I love hitting MK and Epcot in the same day via monorail. Nice samplings at F&W. I love that mongolian beef sandwich. Its so yummy.

Love the flip flop picture. How cute!

OK, I know my comments are totally random so I guess I need to go back and read again.

Totally stinks when that thing called life gets in the way, right? :lmao:

It is hard to stay somewhere for one night. We seem to do that a lot. Mainly because I think we choose to get there a day earlier. I'm all for getting there as soon as I can. :rotfl2:

I like that shirt too, and thankfully it was nice enough that day that I could wear it.

F&W was a lot of fun and we were so hungry at that point, I'm surprised I remembered to get pictures of everything.

I'm checking in late, but your off to a great start! You all always have so much fun.

I'm glad you're here! You're not too late, don't worry at all. :thumbsup2

I didn't know there was a limit on magic bands , I just counted and I have 6 . I am not sure how I have 6 as I counted 5 due to a split stay last December? What happens when you have 10 are you banned from Disney???:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yup, it was news to me also.

OMG, I would have been banned from Disney already if that was the case! :lmao: They just deactivated my oldest one. Makes me think that Disney needs to rethink their whole MB thing. Give us the option to get new ones, or keep our old ones I think.

Of course you do! I would expect no less. :thumbsup2

It really is a beautiful resort, I'm so glad that we got to stay there for this trip.

He really wears that pink with style, I'm telling you. He's very in touch with his feminine side.

That fork was my best friend that day, based on the obscene amount of hunger that I was feeling. :rotfl2:

I'm glad you're here my friend.

Crazy!

Thanks! I just love playing around.

It was so insane. I've been there during busy times of year, but normally we arrive at the park earlier, so this logjam is passed up. This was just insane at that time.

The steamed bun is just a bit of dough that they basically just steam instead of bake. So normal bread is baked, this is steamed, so it has a semi chewy texture. They're pretty good. They'll either fill them or eat them alone.

You definitely should visit F&W someday, it's one of my absolute favorite times to go.

Great updates, Danielle. Aggravation aside, the F&W goodies look GREAT! :goodvibes

They were great! I love going during that time of year.

Haha, I need to clarify my stance on waking up before my alarm. If it's an hour or more before I have to get up, I'm all good. I HATE it when it's like 15 minutes. Then I'm mad. :lmao:

LOL @ that Pop incident in the morning. Hysterical. And yes, blackmail, always good, always VERY good.

Blackmail comes in so handy. The thing is though, it's very difficult to blackmail my Pop, because he knows I post it all on the DIS and he has absolutely no shame. :rotfl:

Love the Belle inspired make-up! So creative and gorj. You and Julia's shirts are fabulous too btw.

Thanks Timmy! I had fun coming up with it.

Pop just likes to act like an idiot. And that's really the best way to put it. An idiot. :lmao:

Yeah, it was crazy. I only have to contend with tickets when I have to activate and pick up my annual pass, and this just happened to be the time that we had to. Everything worked itself out in the end.

Mmmmm, Food and Wine. It all looks so good. I'd totally go for that Mongolian Beef. Love how the title came from your usage of forks around the world lol

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

The food was an amazing way to really start the day. We were all so hungry and we just wanted to get going on our trip!

Hi everyone!

So my trip is coming up and hopefully I can bang out another update after this before leaving next week.

I finally got my Photopass pictures. I was waiting to download them, because I'm greedy, and I wanted to use this one Memory Maker purchase for two trips. Call me frugal.

So here are a few pictures that we took at the start of our day in Epcot.

And because it wouldn't be a photo shoot without Pop doing something. Always has his mouth open that man.

And that was our first photo shoot! Hahahaha. Could you see the hunger coming off us in those pictures, I'm telling you. I'm surprised I'm smiling so nicely, because at that point I was like "dear lord, kill me now!"

Saturday November 9, 2014 continued:

We moved on to our next both at that point. I was wanting some beer, and we also wanted to pick up some of the offerings that they had in Germany. So we split the difference, I hopped in line at the Brewer's Collection booth, while everyone else hopped in line in Germany.

My lovely selection of beer. Don't ask me which one is which, because I don't know. :rotfl: But I will tell you what they were: Radeberger Pilsner, the BraufactuM Colonia, BraufactuM Palor, and the Schofferhofer Grapefruit. The Schofferhofer Grapefruit was the winner here. Kathy, Mark was certainly right. We should get together sometime soon and I'll make sure to have some of it on hand. :thumbsup2

With the rest of the group getting our offerings from Germany, we met up at the exit of the booth. And made our way to a garbage can.

If you've never been to F&W, let me enlighten you on the situation. They put out little standing tables throughout the World Showcase so that you can stand and enjoy your offerings. However, when the crowds are high, the chances of getting a little stand up table are less. So, you take whatever you can get.

In my world, that's a garbage can. Don't judge, because I'm telling you right now. When you're desperate, and you have no other choice, you'll do whatever is necessary.

On our lovely garbage can table we have:

Shinkennudeln Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese. This is a lovely treat. It's almost identical to the nudel gratin that they have at Sommerfest in the Germany pavilion during every day operation, except ham has been added. So, you can get something similar to this every day in Disney. And it's something that I've mentioned before that if it fell on the ground.......I would eat it off the ground.

The Berliner-Yeast Doughut filled with Apricot Jam. This was tasty, but nothing special.

Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll. Again, this was good, but nothing insanely special. This was mostly for Pop, he really really wanted it.

So far, everything we had at this point was good. Some things are better than others, but we didn't feel that anything we ate was a stinker.

Julia was having a great time. You can see in her face how happy she was.

The weather was really perfect. Warm, but not hot or anything. It was a perfect and comfortable day. That never happens to me in Disney! Either it's insanely hot and I'm melting, or I'm there during a cold snap. Let's hope my luck is changing.

We moved on to our final booth of the day, Belgium. Now, for newer readers of my trip reports, my Mom is from Belgium. She immigrated here when she was 15 years old, spoke no English at all. Her native tongue is Flemish, which is a Dutch dialect, and I speak a bit of it as well. Enough to get around in the country and understand. Mom and I will also have conversations sometimes just the two of us speaking Flemish. She can talk to me and I'll pretty much understand everything she says. SO, going to the Belgium booth is a must for us. Even though, it's a little stereotypical, but that's okay. There is so much more food they have to offer than waffles, trust me. I've visited the country twice, and food is one of the highlights of the trip. I was really happy though that they decided to do a savory waffle. This was my absolute favorite. My Mom being from Belgium has also made me a beer snob. And spoiled when it comes to waffles and fries. Because my Mom........she makes both of those homemade. I know, be jealous of me.

Of course, being that my Mom is from that country, so of course we had to get everything the booth had to offer.

Think I'm lying to you?

We have the beer flight (this was mainly for me and a bit for my Mom): Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Leffe Blonde, and Stella Artois Cidre. If you like Red's Apple Ale, the Stella Artois Cidre beats this by a long shot. Personally my opinion. However, I argue again that they get a bit pedestrian here with their beer selections. Westmalle, St. Bernadus, Wittekerke, I can go on and on about the beer options that exist for Belgium. But, whatever it's fine.

We have the Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream. This is super tasty, but I mean, you give me chocolate on a waffle, and I'm pretty happy.

The Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream.

And the winner of this booth. The Potato and Leek waffle with Beer Braised Beef. I would totally make this and eat it at home. Ugh, so good. Waffles aren't just for breakfast guys, and if you ever get the opportunity to visit Belgium, you'll see that. The selections at restaurants there are endless! I was glad they did a savory.

Mom and Julia also ordered the Coffee with Godiva Liqueur, but I forgot to take a picture of it. I know, clearly I was failing in my trip reporting responsibilities.

At that point, we all decided that we were done with fooding and wining for the day, and that maybe it was time for us to go on a ride. F&W takes a while! We spent around 2.5 hours just wandering around eating. We had a dinner reservation at 7pm, so we wanted to head out soon to get settled at the hotel and be able to change for dinner.

Well, where would we go?

Take Photopass pictures first! Gotta get our money's worth.

Goobers.

Julia had a request to go on Imagination, so we said why not! Plus, I mean, we know there would be no line there.

Hehehe. For some reason this just cracks me up. It's like FIGMENT FACE!

Continued in next post:

Continued from previous post:

Looking through these pictures, I'm super excited to use my new camera for my upcoming trip. I recently purchased a Sony a5000 with two lenses, and this upcoming trip, my Mom and I decided that we were just going to take our time and focus on taking pictures and relaxing. I'm looking forward to it.

We spent a little bit of time in the dump shop just having some fun. We had to take some hat pictures for Kathy's Mark.

This one is so funny, because my Pop is totally just standing in the background like "what?"

We couldn't let Pop feel left out!

While we were in the shop, I came across the most amazing hoodie known to man. I do not typically wear hoodies. Unless they're Packer hoodies, but still. It's not my typical style, and Disney hoodies are super expensive.

But I couldn't resist this.

I had to own this. Julia agreed, she loved it too, so she decided that she must own it too.

Let's go back. Way way way back. To the beginning of the TR, when I mentioned that when we got our AP's, they didn't give us any cards.

I brought my hoodie up to the register and tell them about my AP. Because I'm thinking "oh, they don't need the cards anymore, because they didn't give us one".

My thought was wrong. You still need the card to prove you're an AP holder, which means the CM at the front was just a dee dee dee, and didn't give us our cards.

I asked if we showed them proof that we purchased them with my Mom's receipt if that would be sufficient. The CM had to go to the back to get her boss. At that point, I just figured it would be best if I paid with my Disney Visa (which I almost forgot I had with me), so I could get the 10% off that way. This meant though that we needed to make another stop at Guest Relations on our way out of the park to make sure we got our AP cards.

There are moments when people need to be grateful that I am actually a super laid back person, because there were moments when I certainly could have been a jerk. HOWEVER, I don't agree with using those kinds of tactics on people or on CM's. I'm more of "you can attract more bees with honey" kind of person. The Manager at the store did apologize that they clearly missed the mark at the front of the park. I told her it wasn't necessary for her to apologize, but that I appreciated it.

Purchases in hand, we headed out of the park to head towards Guest Relations. We needed to purchase Tables in Wonderland too, so we figured we would just get everything at that time.

Thankfully, the crowds had really lessened at that point, so it only took us about five minutes to get that all taken care of. What a day though, right? Man, I'm telling you.

We headed to the bus stop and ended up getting a great bus driver. My Mom cracked me up first though, because he started chatting us up when we got on, and my Mom goes "do you know a bus driver named Bob?!!!"

The loudest question she could possibly ask. With the most generic name a person could ever have.

There is a bus driver named Bob Hogan on the disboards on Facebook that posts, and that's the one she was asking about.

He laughed, and said "well.....I know a lot of Bob's......"

I laughed at her, and said "she means Bob Hogan." He didn't know him, but it was pretty funny to say the least.

The bus driver started chatting with us as we were driving, and told us that in bus driver world, they referred to Wilderness as Willy. So when the bus has to go to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, they call it Willy Willy. I do not know why I found this to be so humorous, but it was like the funniest thing I had ever heard.

Then, he said "what does Epcot stand for?"

I answered "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow".

He says "exactly! Or......Every Person Comes Out Tired."

To which I responded "or during F&W, Every Person Comes Out Trashed".

He appreciated that.

We made it back to the resort shortly after that, and headed to our rooms. We were finally home!

This is the new unit that comes down and turns into a Murphy Bed. True story, that first night, I was sitting at the table typing out my TR notes, and it totally started to open up on me! I was almost assaulted by a murphy bed!

We were on the first floor, which seriously never happens. This was Julia's and my view.

We called down for our luggage and got ourselves unpacked. We had a little bit of time to relax, so we did that as well. It had been a busy morning! But, with all of the bumps that we had along the way, the day had already been great. Even with missed fastpass windows and everything.

Up next: Dinner with the Beast, and the BEST server ever.

Haha, what a great way to start a chapter of a trip report you just started. "So yeah, my next trip is coming up next week."

There is absolutely no shame in using a garbage can as a table, especially in Disney. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I have done that myself on occasion.

Wow yeah, I would say you covered Belgium thoroughly. Well done!!

I'm a waffle fan anyway (way more than pancakes) but adding those toppings does seem pretty heavenly.

Ok, so basically you stopped eating so you could soon get ready to go eat. Got it!

Oh God I love the Popadon ear photo. The hat (which is awesome of course), but more-so the supreme confidence. You don't learn that, you are born with it. Here's hoping for a future Popadon/Mark hat-off.

Ugh, yeah. Still need the AP card. Kinda defeats the purpose of the MB a little. But that said, I still like having the card anyway for show off purposes, so there's that.

Bahahaha, I can totally relate to the "Bob" question. No lie, when I was a kid and we were in the States, when hearing we were from Canada would often get, "Oh, do you know Bill?" Serious question too.

Your trip is coming up so soon - yay! I'm sure you're super excited to be going back!

I love all the PhotoPass pictures.

Call me crazy ... but I think garbage cans are a perfectly fine table. They're a flat surface, that's all you need. Plus, when you're done, it's easier to throw our your garbage. So whether or not it matters, I approve of using a garbage can as a table when necessary.

That Figment hoodie is super cute. I can't believe the saga with not having the AP card ... insanity. Shouldn't they be able to scan your MB and see the AP on there or something??

EPCOT ... Every Person Comes Out Trashed ... I love it. So appropriate.

I love those VWL pictures ... what a beautiful view! I'm so glad to hear that you survived almost being assaulted by the murphy bed.

In case you don't update before next week ... have a great trip!!

You do look pretty happy in those Photopass pics, given that you were starving and had just waited for hours at GR!

Ugh, I'm dying to try that Cidre. I'm not a fan of beer but I LOVE hard cider. It's like apple juice with a kick :thumbsup2

Drooling at that chocolate waffle. It looks amazing!!

That Figment hoodie is FANTASTIC. So glad you decided to buy it!!

Oh yes the food we had after all the stuff we had to endure that morning was fantastic for sure. Belgium...... yes I am a bit biased being from Belgium, the waffles were all good. And the beer was OK. Like you said Danielle there are so many more good beers and so much food to pick from.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Love love love the Popadon ear photo. Has he ever actually worn a pair around the park? Your mom looks like she was having fun trying on the ears.

Love the figment hoodie...when you posted on Instagram, I was sad we couldn't pick one up at DL. I hope they have them when we are at Epcot next year (my hubby not so much). Especially like the wesie on figment.....your new look. We wouldn't expect anything less from Popadon.

One of your other IG photos got us to spring into action and hit DL for a purchase.

I thought our 1st trip would be a one and done. Now we are going back in 2015 during the Christmas decorations. Would love to hit F & W, Halloween, and F & G. Until then, I will enjoy your trip reports.

“I finally got my Photopass pictures. I was waiting to download them, because I'm greedy, and I wanted to use this one Memory Maker purchase for two trips. Call me frugal.”

I call that perfectly reasonable and smart. ::yes::

Definitely familiar with the lovely easy-disposal-dining-tables at Food & Wine! We have used them before and, really, they are basically the same as a stand-up table, just with built in trash cans. :lmao:

Mmmmm, thank you for recommending the Nudel Gratin previously – I had that in August and Izzy and I loved it. But this one with ham – yum! Sounds even better!

So glad you had a perfect weather day. Makes Disney even better when that happens.

I was hungry for a snack before reading your update and now I am just dying after those waffle pictures! I think I will need to go eat chocolate after posting this. That all looks just delicious! (and why is there not a drooling smiley?!)

That is such an adorable hoodie! And suits you quite well. :thumbsup2

Huh, good to know about the AP card. I have one, but wasn’t sure what I needed it for with the Magic Band. Thanks for filling me in. Sorry you had those issues. I know what you mean about those moments where you could be a jerk about things – I am like you and always try to handle things “with honey”, but Dug tends to be a bit faster to get frustrated (but always apologizes afterwards if he was not as nice as he should have been to a CM).

Ha, the bus driver named Bob! Just like how I always get asked if I know so-and-so at Target (it’s a ginormous company and I work for a small subsidiary, so the odds are not good). Except for the one time I got asked and actually DID know the person. Small world and all that. Of course, it was a much more unique name than Bob.

I like your new EPCOT F&W acronym. Funny to see them as I was just re-reading my first TR the other night (1990 – I wrote it when I was 13 and posted it here many years later) and both of the first two acronyms were in there! :goodvibes

Your room looks really nice! :thumbsup2

The beer flights are gorgeous! Seriously yummy looking. Yes, it is 5:00 in the morning, but you know what the man says "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere!"

I did not know your mom came from Belgium. Thanks for sharing the background.

Take Photopass pictures first! Gotta get our money's worth.

These are great pictures.

I love the Figment hoodies!!!

What a great exchange you had with the bus driver on the way back to the resort. You really can have a memorable experience if you just ask once in a while "Do you know Bob?"

:goodvibes

Those waffles in Belgium were my dessert of choice throughout Food and Wine :thumbsup2

You look so cute in the Figment hoodie! Love it!

And :yay: for another trip fast approaching! It will cheer you up after you see the Lions beat the Packers ;)
