my first trip

I am planning my first trip for the last two weeks in april 2005.

My children will be aged 5 and 8. As my youngest is under the mimimum age for swimming with dolphins I wondered if anyone could confirm if it is still worth the money for discovery cove. I would like to take my 8 year old and fight it out with my husband who gets to go with her.

Can anyone please comment if 10 days is enough or if a full two weeks is required as I have yet to decide on perhaps going to clearwater for a few days.

Any other comments and advice would be greatly appreciated as i am at the very early stages of planning. There is so much to choose from that i'm not sure where to begin.

I can stay in Disney World 2 months and it wouldn't be enough...but 10 days should be great. You sure wouldn't get bored in 2 weeks, but you will be able to have a great vacation and do all of the best and then some in 10 days (I am speaking of Disney only) If you are planning on Universal and Sea World maybe you should go two weeks. I am only saying this because this is your first trip and you may be a little unfamiliar. I have not done discovery cove because dd is 4 and as you said not old enough. My boys are 11...but we will wait to do that when she is older. I always manage all 4 parks and the water parks, cirque de soliel and a fire works cruise and plenty of relaxing at the resort pool and with the exception of one year when I did stay 10 days...all of my other trips have been 1 week....hope this helps...and it is never to early to start planning.....the more you plan and research, the better trip ypu will have.

We stay for 7 nights and ten is definitely better than 7. My DH wants us to do 2 weeks next year so we can visit all the parks and off-site events.

Discovery Cove is worth it if your children want to "swim with the dolphins." Not everyone can say they have swam with the dolphins . My DD wants to do it in the future, but I heard that it has to be booked two years in advance ot get a reservation. I don't know if it's true or not (never tried to make a reservation there).

If we had the moolah and the time we would definitley spend a day at Discovery Cove.
