My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Loving the updates! Keep em' coming Lee!

I guess some people will just never stop with the fiction/non fiction hullabaloo...
Thank you, I will keep them coming, and honestly, as long as people keep it "nice" the hullabaloo doesn't bother me.

silly me! you wrote another chapter! great one, too!

I'm not a big fan of star wars, but it was hubby and my first date!! (back in 1977) (and dinner too, at Sabatino's in Chi Town)

at Great Movie Ride, we like to see how many movies from the end we can remember to put on our Netflix list (like 60 movies on our list isn't enough!:rotfl:)

isn't the pre-show at Muppets great? glad you like the props. If you look up in the pre-show room, you can see a "guest appearance" by Annette Funicello (a net full of Jello!) :rotfl2:.. and at the fake ticket window to the right of the entrance is a sign saying "key under mat". pick up the mat, there really is a key there.

I'm SO glad you guys are having FUN again!!! and didn't call it quits after all the unforseen drama... good for you!:thumbsup2
60 movies on your list? That's all?:lmao:
I love winter time and being snowed in, that's when I get to do most of my movie watching.
I didn't see the "net full of jello" how hilarious.

Writing another great update you are:rolleyes1 sorry that slipped out:upsidedow
:lmao: Laughing out loud I am.

mad props? :rotfl2::lmao:
Giving props is very important, Rig is stingy with his props, but I give out plenty of props when props are do.

I was laughing out loud...that High School Musical street show is a huge joke in my family. Any time of day at DHS, this show is playing! By the end of the day, if you didn't know the words to the songs, you will!

We have the same feelings toward "Going down the bayou, going down the bayou..."

That song even haunts me even at the Disney Stores! :rotfl2:
I swear the high school musical show was stalking us.

I have to say I laughed out load about your repeating these lines!!! Too much!!! This is totally something I would do but I would do it to annoy my dh (if I could remember the lines that is!!)

I get motion sickness, I think, so I felt the same way Rig did when I got off Star Tours - my head was all fuzzy and my tummy was all swirly or vice versa whichever but you get my point - it made me feel yucky - like those darn tea cups!!!

Still lovin the report and can't wait for your updates!! :yay:
Michelle
Oh I have got tons of star wars lines memorized, a couple of my other favorites are
"this is no cave." and "Let the wookie win." Yoda has got a lot of great lines. I can quote the Breakfast club too as well as many other movies. I'm not trying to brag or anything, I mean really that's not a huge accomplishment in most peoples eyes, but it's fun.

I have been following this TR since the beginning, and still LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I know this was discussed before, but I would still like to see a picture! ;)
Thank you for reading. I'm working on the picture.;)

Lee. Stars Wars Geek you are. Yes. Still much training to see Disney. Master the parks you must. Fear not the rides. Feel the force young Lee. :lmao:

:lmao:I can feel the force, then this is wear Yoda would say "But you can not control it."
Omagosh, I am a Star wars geek. I promise you though, I do not own a single star wars figure, poster, shirt, book, DVD, you name it, I just love to quote it.

I've been lurking throughout this TR and I just had to pop up and say that I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I don't think it matters whether its real or not. Aren't most of us here on the DIS willing and able to suspend belief during our trips to Disney? :wizard:

I say, just get in and enjoy the ride!

You rock Lee! :thumbsup2
Well put daly7o9, suspend belief. That is a great phrase.
I'm glad you are enjoying this trip report.

I'm a bit of a lurker too. I completely agree with you about the "suspended belief". I really like to suspend all these negative comments...:rotfl:

Thanks for another great installment! I hope that Rig started to feel better after a while. Being sick in Disney is no fun! Can't wait to read more.

Rigs headache was almost gone, we decided to stick it out at the park and not go back to the resort. So we got in line for the backlot tour.
O hope I don't offend anybody when I say the line was the best part. I liked watching how they made the Pearl Harbor movie, it was such a good movie too.
But watching the "Water effects".....Boring with a capitol "B" and aside from Catastrophe Canyon, which was pretty neat, the rest of the tour seemed like it was just random things here and there, it wasn't at all what I thought it would be, I guess because everything else at disney world is done up so good.
Rig agreed with me that this was a ride that time forgot. Information wise this is a good ride, visually though, I have to give it a thumbs down.

We decided to save the motor car stunt show for our next park visit. Why do it all now?

We headed back the way we came, taking pictures here and there. We passed Toy Story Mania again, this will go on the list with motor cars and Indiana Jones.

Rig wanted to go draw another picture. I really didn't want to, it's no fun when you literally can NOT draw, but I still went in and still stunk at it. I was excited at first because we were drawing Mickey Mouse, circles, how hard can it be to draw circles? I can tell you I am very good at drawing ovals, that is what my circles looked like.
Rigs picture looked good, mine looked like I drew it back in preschool, for a preschool kid this would be good, but I'm not a preschool kid, I threw my picture away. Rig kept looking at his, "Babylee, I might just hang up my hat and boots and move here to be an animator."

"Don't you need some kind of schooling for that Rig?"

"Not when you've got natural talent like me."

"Ok that is just bragging now."

Rig turned his picture for me to see, "That's not bragging Babylee, that is just plain truth on paper"

Rig stopped a young boy walking by. "Does this look professional?"

the kid shrugged, "I guess so."

"there you go baby, it looks professional."

"Why don't you ask a professional if it looks professional?"

Rig folded it and put it in his pocket, "I don't need to ask a professional, I already know."

I just had to laugh and give it to him, it was a good drawing, and he should be very proud. I know he was just carrying on though, he carrys on like that when his team wins at pictionary, he takes all the credit saying it's because of his exellent drawing ability. He won't let me be on his team either, probably because my circles look like ovals.:confused3

I wanted to see the little mermaid show, and since Rig slept through it the first time he was ok with going again. I was excited all over again and told Rig he had to stay awake for it this time, he still swore he was awake for it last time.
We hung towards the back of the room so we could get a seat a little further back, I didn't Rig to have to slouch way down in his seat, that would just igve him another excuse to fall asleep. Or rest heavy as he said he was doing, but either way, we got seats in the back and RIg put his arm around me.

"I like being in dark places with my Babylee." He leaned in and kissed me, I heard a little tiny voice "Gross."
Looked up and saw a little girl in front of us had turned around to watch us. "Rig you can't be doing that, there's little eyes everywhere."
Rig cleared his throat and leaned back in his chair. the little girl would not turn around, when I say little girl she was probably 9 or 10. And it was extrememly uncomfortable having her stare at us.
Finally the lights went down and she turned around, Rig leaned in to me again. "Watch the show Rig."
Rig let out a huge defeated sigh, he kept his arm around me and played with my hair.
This show just makes you want to sing along, "Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun......." But since there was never any resquest at anytime for audience participation I didn't join in. I just watched, and at the end when Ariel and Eric have their stage kiss Rig leaned forward and whispered to the little girl, "Gross."

'"Want to ride this I do."
"Babylee don't do that danged backwards talking thing again."'

Rig is so funny :rotfl:

So you guys saw the mob gangster right? Too bad you didn't see the western one! I haven't seen it yet in all the times I've been on TGMR.

Just thought I'd let you know.. I too had never seen the western one, just the mob gangster (I think they typically only run the western one during times of heavier crowds and there's more than one "vehicle"?). But anyway, when I was there April 2009 I really wanted to see the western one so when we got to the CM who boards you on the ride we told her that we would like to see the western one if possible and she told us to wait while she did some communicating with the other CMs. She placed us on the next vehicle that came through and our ride got "hijacked" during the western scene instead. I really enjoyed it, gave a new twist to the ride if you've rode it several times and there's some cool special effects during the switch. So, thought you all (especially Rig and Lee) might like to know for next time.

P.S. Still loving your report RigLee! Can't wait for the next installment:cool1:

I've always kinda liked the Backlot tour, but we've got a few good memories of it. First time we took our son on, he was around 3, and he FREAKED :scared1: at the tanker going on fire. I've great video of him bawling his eyes out, and I still get a row for not putting the camera down and comforting him! It was good film!

Then, the last time we were there (not two weeks ago, but '07), I was selected as one of the people to take part in the 'Pearl Harbor' bit at the start, which was fun. I was the guy on the deck, panicking at the attack. Lots of fun, and we've got some great long shots of me doing it, as my mom had the camera but couldn't work out the zoom!

But I kinda like the story of the water tower, and the costume department, etc - it's part of the 'feel' of the park for me, if you know what I mean. They also used to go past the 'fronts' of several 'famous' TV /film houses, for example the Golden Girls, but they've removed that from the tour, which I think is a shame.

Lee, I have been reading this TR since you have first started. The title brought me in right away. I have lots of trip reports before, but have never resonded. This one has me hooked. Some naysayers may say it is not real. Well thats OK, cause i believe this is how everyone wish there Walt Disney World trip could be ( without the jail time) It is almost like reading a travel quide qith an amazing story built into it. It so makes me want to go back to WDW right KNOW, and I just came back 2 weeks ago. I was going to write a trip report but you have now ruined it for me (JOKE) There no way is can wven come close to this TR. Loved every minute of it, can see it all in my mind so clearly, almost like I am ther ( wish i was) Keep your head up, fingers typing and keep on trucking.......er I mean "RIGGING. (j/k) P.S. if you would like to silence the naysayers maybe posting a pic of you and Rig might help. Just a thought. I now i dont need it. But it wouldnt hurt. popcorn::

Hey Lee If we cant see pictures of you guys faces and stuff because Rig wont let you post, can we at least see pictures that you took of the rides and stuff? I might just go to backlot tours now to just "test" it:lmao:

I have to say that I am truly addicted to your story! I have spent most of my day reading your TR when I should have been doing house work. I almost forgot to get my kids from school I was so wrapped up in it!! I really enjoy the way that you describe the love between you and Rig, I think we all wish we could have love like that. Can't wait to read how the rest of your trip went!

Melissa

Whoever is writing this "story" has certainly captured a big audience!! It's fun to see a different writing style whether it is or isn't a real TR (I'm a believer of seeing proof - like pics ;)).

Thanks for sharing! (better than the novel I'm reading at home now :upsidedow)
Thank you, I'm sorry I can't provide you with the proof you need, but I am glad that you are at least enjoying this "story";)

That's great advice thanks for sharing it.

I did like the costume department, but everybody just kind of walked fast through it, there wasn't any stopping to enjoy what we were seeing. I was hoping to see some real movie sets or TV show sets. that's all.
Your being picked to be in the show sounds like tons of fun though.

I can look into doing that for ya.

This is hilarious!!!:worship:
idn't he cute?

Is the costume part a walk through? Or you must mean the prop room before you get to the tram. The costuming room that you see while aboard the tram car actually used to be quite different if I remember. Everything has changed SO MUCH. I, like a previous poster, miss the 'set houses' they used to have in the back. Ah, those were the days. :sad2:

Agreeing with Minnie J.! Couldn't you post a few pictures from around the park? I've always wanted to go at Christmas time, and would love to see some of your pics!

yes I meant the prop room, the costume part that we saw was just through a big window as we drove by and there wasn't much to see there really. I'm sure in it's grand opening that ride was something, I just think it needs a little more pizazz.

Hey Lee,
Love your TR and glad you found some true happiness.
I guess I am just confused why people keep saying they do not believe it but it makes a great story.

It's not like you said you saw tinker bell really flying on her own or that Rig came galloping in the MK on a big white horse and whisked you right off your feet on Main st. like a knight in shining armor.
What is it that people are not believing, that Rig is not a cowboy? or a true gentlemen?
Many years of health and happiness to you both!

When Disney's MGM was a working lot the backlot tour was much more interesting. I remember when the Mickey mouse Club filmed there - really fun!

Some things are just really hard to believe,:confused3

Boy they really aren't going to believe me when I tell them that on our last day at Disney, Rig and I were abducted by aliens and taken into another galaxy. I am writing this report from the spaceship and Rig has officially changed his name to Deathstar.....:lmao:juuuuuust Kidding.

Thank you for reading, I will be posting another chapter this evening.

Now that does sound like fun. Did you ever get to see any of the stars of the Mickey Mouse club?
