Color me shocked and disappointed! I tried to make a ressie at BWV for January 2007. 10 nights in a standard view studio -- and it's sold out already??? Is this going to be my experience always? :sad2:

Are all std view studios booked for the entire 10 days? I would imagine some of those days are available.

You could book any available nights at BWV and book the other nights at OKW or SSR. Then waitlist for your nights at BWV. Chances are that between now and then those waitlists will come thru.

For std studios, I would imagine you are likely to continue to run into that, unless you have points at BWV and book 11 months in advance. The std view studios at BWV are pretty popular. I booked stay day by day at the 7 month mark and had to waitlist for 2 nights, which came thru 2 days later.

Good luck!

So it was probably the fact that I tried to book a standard view instead of a preferred?

I did this by email, so I didn't get a chance to ask about other days. I'm not even sure if we'll be able to go...I just wanted to get a ressie. I asked for a standard 1 bedroom instead. I just want my first trip "home" to be our actual "home."

You could try to see if you can get a Pref View or Boardwalk view Studio... they might have some of those available since they are more points. The stds fill up because they are some of the lowest.

I think others have said a 1BR is likely. If you can call MS, that might be your best bet because they can give you the different options rather than delaying a couple of days each time you correspond by email.

good luck!

As already posted, standard view rooms (and guaranteed Boardwalk view rooms) tend to book quickly. At certain times of the year, they are gone just a few days after the 11 month window opens.

However, you should not have any trouble booking a PV - Pool/Garden room for January, 2007. If by chance one or more of your days are not available, the waitlist should work for you.

FWIW, I recommend you call MS rather than use email until you have made a few reservations and really understand all the nuances. It's a lot easier in "real time" (MS can be very helpful) especially when you need to understand the waitlist options or have 2nd & third choices. A good CM would have suggested the PV option and/or that you get on the waitlist for the SV dates that were full. He/She could have booked any days that were available for SV if you were on the phone. They only do exactly what you specify if you are using email.

Best wishes -

You would need to book Std. views at 11 months or use the waitlist. There should be plenty of availability right now for Preferred units. I would call MS.

Std. views and GV's are the first to go at BWV. Boardwalk views go pretty quickly too.

You will get to go home, so dont worry :wizard:

Thanks for your advice! I'll definetely give MS a call. I've already changed our dates, lol!

Gosh thanks for this reminder -- Our trip is now 11 months away, so I should be calling today (I think).

Computers are down at Member Services right now. Try back in a half hour.

You already got all the advice you should need. If your reservations are for the first 2 weeks of January it is very busy down there with extended Christmas seasons, the marathon, and a 100,000 person show for builders that occurs every year during the second week.

Like the BWV experts have posted, it's probably the standard view. We made our reservations for our Jan. trip in October (3 months), and there were plenty of preferred view rooms. We got on the waiting list for standard view, and it did not come through. We ended up having a wonderful time at SSR. :thumbsup2 Incidentally, we got BWV standard view seven months out for our June 18-23 trip. :)

No advice, but I just wanted to say I sympathize with you. It's so disappointing when you call to make that first reservation home and there's no availability. The same thing happened to us-luckily the waitlist came thru but initially it was quite a shock, like "Oh, Oh, what did we get ourselves into?" My experience is that January seems to be a relatively busy time with DVC-maybe because it's a low point time, but I've also been shut out at BWV for January before. However, I just got ressies at a standard view at BWV yesterday within 7 months (Boy, it must have been my lucky day!)

Yikes guess I should call today to get on that waitlist too if I have to since I was also going to book standard studio BWV the first 2 weeks january (minus the friday & sat night -- I have a sister near by I'll stay with for those nights). Hope I get it too! :yay:

I booked for October a standard studio at the 11 month and got it on the first call.
