So after about a year and a half of planning it's nearly here :cool1:

We leave in 10 days for our second trip to WDW and after reading so many amazing PTR/TR's I've decided to give it a go myself (if only to give me something to do while I count down the minutes till we leave!)

Introductions

So here we are - This is me (Ashleigh, 25) and DBF (Ally, 25) on our first trip to WDW in September 2009. We live in Glasgow, Scotland and we have been together since 2004 :scared1: It will be our 7 year anniversary when we were there, and we will be going out for a special dinner to celebrate. It was our 5 year when we were last there and it was so lovely having people wish us a happy anniversary with our badges!

I have just qualified as a primary school teacher, and Ally works at a racing circuit as a racing driver instructor (dream job anyone?!)

I have a little bit of a confession... Although I have always loved Disney movies and princesses, I was really skeptical about our first trip. DBF had been when he was 16 and couldn't wait to go back. When he booked it I was pretty scared at how much money it was going to cost and couldn't imagine spending two weeks at a theme park.

Phew - that's that off my chest and let's just say that within minutes of arriving at the Wilderness Lodge I was a changed woman and have never looked back :rotfl2: I am now a certified Disney World nut and can't wait to go back!

We have both worked really hard for the last year and saved up enough money to go back to the Wilderness Lodge for two weeks and then a 3-night Bahamian Cruise on the Dream :cloud9: Neither of us have cruised before so we are really excited! We will have the Deluxe Dining Plan (upgrade from free dining) so have booked lots of signature restaurants to use up all those credits!

Getting There

We were really lucky to be given lots of airmiles for our trip from DBF's parents. We had enough to get from London to Orlando and back business class :wizard: This is amazing for me as I am a really nervous flyer and the complementary wine might help me relax a bit

We booked separate flights from Glasgow to London the day before to give us plenty of time and hopefully less travelling stress!

So here is our flight itinerary:

Wednesday 31st August

6:30pm - Depart Glasgow (British Airways)

7:50pm - Arrive London Heathrow

That night we plan on eating dinner in Carluccios (gorgeous Italian restaurant) and are spending the night in Sofitel, Terminal 5. I am even excited about this part of the trip as the hotel is really cool. It seems a bit strange flying via Frankfurt but we had to go with what was available with the airmiles and you don't complain when you get to go business class!

Thursday 1st September

9:50am - Depart London Heathrow (Lufthansa)

12:25pm - Arrive Frankfurt

2:10pm - Depart Frankfurt (Lufthansa)

6:20pm - Arrive Orlando ::MickeyMo

We are getting picked up by the Magical Express and plan on relaxing around the hotel that night, we will probably grab CS and eat in our rooms and unpack.

Daily Plans/ADR's

We are not commando-style touring planners, we love just wandering and seeing where our feet take us. Our daily plans are mostly about our ADR's :rolleyes1 as we both love our food and other than catching our favourite attractions (ToT :yay:) we don't have a plan.

So that's our plans so far, I don't know much about the cruise as Ally is the master planner and has all the details - maybe I can talk him in to adding to our PTR! I hope to add lots of photos when we get back and hopefully you will have enjoyed reading over our plans :smickey:

Sounds great so far Ashleigh. Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back. :goodvibes

Your trip sounds *FABULOUS* - can't wait to hear more. I love your costumes from MNSSHP. We have been twice - and just love it.

We will have two days that cross before we head back to real life -- can't wait for my own trip to begin!

Thank you! I see you are sharing a special birthday with WDW ;) that's awesome! We are hoping to visit the Boardwalk this trip as we didn't make it last time, it looks gorgeous!

I can't believe you have 3 tickers - you must be so excited! I'd love to live a bit closer to the World and be able to go more than once every few years.

I am really looking forward to MNSSHP - I want to dress as Rapunzel but I can't find a costume anywhere. I am hoping to find something in a fancy dress shop when I'm there. Will this be your first time at F&W? It looks great and I'd love to hear more about it!

I am going to start packing soon and will probably post some pics of my dresses/outfits as would love some girly feedback!

I am excited! We went for two weeks over the summer - and we got an annual pass then. So, we are planning lots of short trips over the course of the year. Except that when I leave for my girls trip on Friday - that is another long one :cool1:

We have done the F&W twice before - and it's a family favorite. Even my girls - they love to try all the different foods. Being 8 hours away makes it a little easier than getting there from Scotland! But then again...you are in Scotland...somewhere from my bucket list!

Finding adult costumes can be sort of a challenge. I wonder if you could find something online and have it shipped to your resort?

Oh...I am happy to give any sorts of girly feedback that I can!

Your plans sound great :). My family will there the 1st - 11th. It's just around the corner :dance3:

Can I get a WOOHOOO?! We are nearly there :cool1:

It always amazes me that people want to come to Scotland as in comparison to the USA it seems so small and boring, but then I think about all the gorgeous places nearby and can see why people want to come! (I live near Loch Lomond, 2 minutes from a whiskey distillery and I can see the Trossach mountains from the back garden! All that and I'm 30 minutes from Glasgow/Stirling for shopping :yay:) So yeah you should definitely try and make a visit one day.

Adult costumes are a nightmare, there are very few that aren't a bit too *ahem* revealing for Disney. I will look into websites, I hadn't thought of that yet.

I hope your girly trip is awesome!

I leave for WDW on 8/31, too! Though I don't have quite as far to travel as you do! ;)

MNSSHP is so much fun! I went a few years ago... I wore yellow capris pants, and a blue tee layered over a red one. My version of a Snow White costume!

That's a great idea! I wonder if I could rustle up a Rapunzel version, I'm sure it would be pretty straightforward.

Hi!

Fellow UK Disser - thought I'd say hello. :goodvibes

Your trip does sound amazing and I'm so excited that my trip isn't too long away either (my PTR is the one called "Last trip for ages.. Honest!!) and we're going in November.

I just wanted to let you know that the UK Disney Store website now has adult costumes, including one for Rapunzel. They are a bit pricey but I don't know how much you want to spend. Have a look online! Also, if you happen to find a costume on an American website, why not order it to be posted to Wilderness Lodge? They are really great at holding on to your deliveries until you check in. :thumbsup2

Are you planning to wear Disney clothes when you're there? Or are you more of a dresses/skirts kinda girl? I'll admit I tend to wear Disney t-shirts for the duration of the trip unless I'm going out for a nice meal - the thrill is in the shopping before the trip and I don't wear them all that much at home! I ordered some stuff from the US Disneystore website yesterday so I'm excited about it arriving...

Anyway I look forward to reading more about your trip. :)

Hello there! Where where where have you seen this Rapunzel dress?! I just went on the Disney Store UK site and they only had a Cinderella dress :confused3 It's good to know you can have stuff posted to the hotel, I hadn't realised!

I am definitely a dress girl - I have so many sundresses to wear but I also have an Alice t-shirt and a couple of mickey/minnie t-shirts to wear with shorts! I will also be taking maybe one or two more fancy dresses for V&A and the cruise (I love any excuse to dress up!) I'm hoping to post some pics of my clothes I'm taking as I'd love to chat about clothes with all the guys/girls on here!

What did you get from US Disney and how do you get on the website?! Anytime I try I end up redirected to the UK Disneystore!

It's so Great to see you writing a pre-trip report!!! You guys are so cute together! I'm so excited for you, you have so many wonderful ADRs!

I'm with you, MNSSHP is our favorite right now....and it's so much fun dressing up and seeing all the people and their imaginative costumes. Last year, we wanted to travel light, so we booked an appointment for the Pirates League...it was so cool and the ceremony is a blast! Another alternative for traveling light would be to buy a witches hat and go to Downtown Disney and have a mask painted on you....I did that year before last and they did a fantastic job!

Here's a pic...the hat collapsed, so it fit in my suitcase (the "cape" is actually the skirt of a little girls witches costume.

goodwitch.jpg

I didn't know you were going on the Dream too, I bet you are besides yourself with excitement! We were on it in May for our two-year anniversary, and the ship is, well, a DREAM!!! You must see the shows, they are so awesome....were you able to book Palo's or Remy?

Can't wait to read your trip report (you HAVE to do one!! :goodvibes: ) and see your pictures!

Hi Ashleigh,

I just wanted to say thankyou for posting this wonderful pre-trip report! After reading it I just had to post- It's great to see another young couple on here, who have been together a long time and are Disney nuts! I'm 21 and DBF is 23 and we've been together six years, he's a qualified primary teacher and i'm currently teacher training! So you see why I had to post! Congratulations on qualifying too by the way!

We last went to WDW in 2008 with my parents and after buying our first house this year are beginning to save for WDW 2013, which will be our first time going on our own, squee! (Although since I mentioned it to my Dad, he's started hinting about meeting us out there, so we'll see!!:rotfl:) 2013 seems such a long time away but reading your pre-trip report has made me very excited and it'll be great to see what another young couple get up to at the world- we plan our holidays around our food too, hehe!

Congratulations on your seven years and I hope you have a WONDERFUL disney-verysary, your plan sounds really great and I can't believe you get to do MNSSHP and finish off with a cruise, you are so so lucky and I hope you have a fantastic time!
Can't wait for the trip report! :thumbsup2

:wave2: Scrappy_Tink hello! It's so cool to see what you look like, your face paint mask is so cool! I think I will buy a hat over there and do something like that! I've heard a lot about the Pirates League on here but hadn't considered it until now... I will definitely do some research into that.

We are so looking forward to all our ADR's - we haven't booked Remy or Palo on the cruise, we are eating so much in the weeks prior and it gives us an excuse to make sure we cruise again to try it! I am a bit worried about how Hurricane Irene might affect the cruise, but I'm just hoping it sticks to the sea and doesn't cause too much damage to people's land/homes!

Wow! I can't believe you are both teachers (in training!) That's so cute  We have been planning this trip for a long time too - I promise you it will fly in haha. I was a bit nervous about writing a PTR but I'm going to try and make sure I write in it and update it when I get back! I hope you have lots of fun planning your trip :thumbsup2

Hi again,

OK so I think I got a little confused, and the Rapunzel dress is actually on the US site. Here's the link: http://www.disneystore.com/disney-s...p/1290048/1000396/?Nr=pPublished:1&D=rapunzel costume&Ntk=All_Shopping&Nu=pProductID&Ntt=rapunzel costume&Dr=pPublished:1&Ntx=mode matchallpartial&Dx=

To get to the UK site, (if the link doesn't work) go to www.disneystore.co.uk, then scroll right to the bottom of the page. There you'll see DisneyStore.com and a little American flag, click on that and you're there!

Have fun - but don't go too mad! Shipping is $65. Plus there's a possibility you'll need to pay tax when it arrives. :S

I bought a few t-shirts for me, and a nightshirt which is really cute. :) And Hayley got a few tops too, and we got some cute baby stuff for my niece and nephew... I think that was it! Expensive but worth it.

Hope that helps! Speak soon. D xx

Thanks Ashleigh!! If you go to have your face painted, be sure to tell them it's for the MNSSHP and want it halloween themed, I want to say it was only $13. It was so hot when we went, we didn't want to be drug down with heavy costumes. At Pirates league, they do your makeup, put some sparkly body stickies on you, a bandana, lip gloss, fingernail polish, and have you do the "Pirate Oath", very cute! Men have choices between three different looks (The skeleton look, The "normal" Jack Sparrow, and the Jack with six eyes. I tried to get DH to have the jack w/six eyes put on the BACK of his head (he's follically challenged!), I thought that would be funny. Oh, and I agree with you regarding the type of costumes they sell anymore...it's like they are all so revealing. Me and DH loved to watch the people at MNSSHP...DH would say "Look, there's Alice in Wonderland....and there's Hooker Alice in Wonderland". Haha.

I think you made a good decision to save the ressies for your next Cruise. I didn't want to say anything negative about the restaurants or discourage you if you made reservations. They were both great, but IMO Remy wasn't worth the hype or price. Palo, on the other hand, was great. Remember, if you're at one of your assigned restaurants and want to try more than one dish, they will be happy to oblige. The Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes at Animator's Palace are absolutely to die for!!

I meant to tell you last night, congratulations on your teaching degree!! That must be so exciting starting a career that you love. Fingers crossed that something comes up when your ready!! Will be be substituting until you find something permanent? I know a few substitute teachers, and they seem to like the freedom and could work almost full time if they wanted.

I think you'll be fine on your cruise, I believe the hurricane will be done and over with by the time you guys get here...and I would bet that they will do everything possible to make sure that Castaway Cay will be ready for visitors. I'm a little concerned too about who it's going to hit on shore though, my ex's Mother-in-Law lives in South Carolina and I'm a little worried about her, she's widowed now and is very independent....I'm afraid she won't accept help to evacuate if necessary.

We all just need to think positive thoughts, I think you're going to have the time of your life!! We are blessed to have Disney-Loving guys!!:banana::banana:

Hello all! Thanks to everyone who has joined in so far - it's such a nice feeling to think that people are interested in your plans (although I guess we are all Disney mad, so we share this interest!)

Ally is the big planner when it comes to holidays, he organised everything. I am hopelessly disorganised and doubt I could ever complete the mammoth task that is planning a Disney holiday. So here is my contribution to Disney planning... my packing list :rolleyes1

I wear a dress pretty much every day and feel most comfortable in them, so I have picked up a lot of new sundresses for WDW. Last time I went I had no idea what to pack and haphazardly packed a bunch of tops and shorts that didn't match - I hate trying to match tops to bottoms and I ended up looking crazy in the photos  So dresses are my saviour, I don't have to worry about matching my clothing and I will be able to wear them during the day or at night to some of the nicer restaurants.

So here's my dresses - I got all of them in sales over the summer and the will probably wear the three maxi dresses in the second picture on the Dream.

P1090876.jpg

P1090878.jpg

Not something I'm packing but we bought this is a wee shop recently as it really reminded us of Disney :goodvibes

P1090879.jpg

As I've already mentioned, I'm terrible at matching clothes so I tried to stick to white, navy and blue so that I can't go wrong. Also the obligatory Disney T's and a brown one which I call my Pocahontas top!

P1090881.jpg

Gosh as I'm typing this it's all starting to look like a lot :scared1: but it's really light so hopefully it will be fine! I probably wont be taking the tiny orange shorts as I just tried them on and it looks like I've *grown out* of them :rotfl:

P1090882.jpg

I am in love with the blue bikini - it reminds me of Donald Duck! It's one of the most expensive things I've bought for the holiday but I couldn't resist! I love fifties style swimming costumes with the ruffled sides - they remind me of Marilyn Monroe!

P1090883.jpg

Last but not least my shoes! The heels are for V&A and possibly the cruise - I haven't decided which dress to wear for V&A yet but want to really dress up and make a special night of it as who knows when we will next be able to do that! Stripy shoes I got for £3 and thought they went well with my white/navy/red colour scheme - those and the flats with bows will do for most nights and my Fit Flops for the parks!

P1090886.jpg

So that is my packing list - I keep panicking that it is too much/too little but as long as it's not too heavy I will be fine! I will also take a pair of running shoes, shorts and vest in case I get the urge to work of some of the food :rotfl:

What do you guys all wear to the parks? Am I missing anything important?

One week from now I'll be too excited to sleep at London Heathrow woohoo!

I found it! That's great - how much better is the US site?! I'm scandalised by the lack of merchandise available to adults in the UK. The Rapunzel costume is so cute and exactly what I've been looking for! I'm toying with the idea of buying it and having it delivered to WL - it's quite a lot of $$ but I get this thing when it comes to Disney where I'm like "pffft! you only live once!" You should post some pics of your purchases when they arrive :thumbsup2 Thank you for the help getting onto the US site too, I've been wondering about that for ages!

Me and DH loved to watch the people at MNSSHP...DH would say "Look, there's Alice in Wonderland....and there's Hooker Alice in Wonderland". Haha.

:rotfl::rotfl2: HAHA this made me laugh so much and I can totally see myself doing that on the night! Pirates League sounds great, and I think Ally sounds pretty excited about doing something like that too (you are so right about having Disney-loving guys :thumbsup2)

Thanks for the advice RE cruising - it's all confusing at first when you don't know what you are doing, especially about where to book, and dinner rotations etc. I'm sure we will get the hang of it

At this point I have no teaching jobs lined up. I loved teaching my class last year but the job situation is dire here and I actually went for an interview for a job in a shop yesterday which I got! I start when we get back from WDW. It's not what I trained to do but it's just until Christmas and then I am going to start applying for teaching jobs, especially substitute teaching as I think it will give me lots of experience in different schools/classes and a bit of freedom is always great.

I really hope the hurricane stays away from land, positive thoughts and fingers crossed for your ex's MIL and everyone else potentially affected!

subbing in....great PTR so far...how lucky for you...Disney and a cruise...my 2 favorite things....you 2 make an adorable couple...
we will be there in 2 weeks ourselves...first time for MNSSHP.........cant wait..
