Hello everyone. I am new to the boards and I just wanted to say I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and have found some really helpful advice for my upcoming trip during July 31 through August 6. This will be my first stay at Fort Wilderness, I have stayed on property before but those times were with my parents and sisters. My fiancee and I and our 5 yr old Cocker Spaniel Katie will be staying at FW in a rented RV while my parents will be staying at All-Star Music this time. Katie was originally supposed to stay with my future in-laws, but they backed out.
I am glad she is coming with us so we won't miss each other but I am concerned about which site loop would be the best for us to stay in? I reserved a preferred site on a pet loop when we made our reservations. I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind reccomending which site loop would be best for us? I don't mind being farther away, I would actually prefer a site on a loop where there is less foot traffic, noise from buses, pioneer hall, etc. because Katie can bark sometimes and I'm worried about that. I'm not to sure but looking at the map it seems like 300 or 700 would be our best option, what do you guys think? Thanks- Mandy

Hi!

We've always camped in tents or a popup, so I can't help you with the Preferred site question, but I just wanted to say Welcome to the DIS!!

If you're worried about Katie barking while you're not there, there is the option of the kennel at Fort Wilderness too! And, each of the parks has its own kennel also! We took our dog, Barclay, to the park kennels on our last trip, and it worked out very well! :flower:

If you have reserved a preferred pet loop then 300 or 700 are your only options. Unless FW is in a pet overflow mode those are the only preferred pet loops.

We stayed in loop 300 last year and requested it again this year. We liked it because it was close to the marina, Settlement trading post, Trail's end, etc... We loved being close to the beach to walk over and watch the fireworks at night and we also walked along the beach to get the boat to go to MK. We liked being close to everything. For the pool we sometimes took a bus or walked (depended how hot and tired we were :) )

Have a great trip! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We stayed in loop 700 in Nov. but we also took a walk around the 300 loop to check it out. We liked the 700 loop because it was an easy walk with stroller to the marina, petting zoo etc. We were on the road side of the 700 loop so there was some bus noise. I thought the 300 loop looked a little quieter and private. I have also heard that the 500 loop is usually used as a pet loop it is listed as pet loop overflow.

DH checks out the loops in the golf cart during our stay and when he said that the 500 loop was pet designated I argued until he took me and showed me the sign.."No pets beyond this point" and the poop bags!!! We stayed in the 300 loop and liked some of the sites in the 500 one. Of course there is more space in 300 to walk your pet near the stream but 300 is very quiet and we have stayed there 3 times.
