My first pin! I found the secret! Will we get more?

So I thought I'd give it a try for a pin, and I applied online for the vacation video's and free park maps. The next day I got two emails from Disney with just some generic gp discounts, then on day 2 (today) I got my first pin!! It's not a very good one, values for $76, mods for $126 and deluxe for $220 a night. It's only good for next December, so I guess if I wanted to go for Xmas it would be good, but that's not gonna happen. But hey I was so excited to get a pin I almost booked anyway!!! Does anyone know, now that I've been added to the "LIST" will I get getting pins? I'm so happy about a pin, isn't that a sad statement about my life?

I did what you did at least 3 or 4 times over the years (in addition to other things) and have never received a single pin. Luckily I found this board a few years ago which helped me get a few discounts when certain codes came out.

They are elusive, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason. We used to get heaps of pins, now...nothing. I signed up with new emails and did the same requests you did a few weeks ago and again...nada. I am dying to go in early November, but now that we will be a family of six, we can't go without free dining or a high room discount. Fingers crossed that pin love with come our way again.

Hmmm, I really hope for a free dining PIN, b/c it's the only way I'll get hubby back to WDW next year. We're planning a DCL trip for 2013, but nothing 2012, BAH! My DH is as much a WDW junkie as I am now, so if the deal was good enough, I know I can hook him in!

Thanks for the pixie dust, right back at ya. We are going in 3 weeks! I must say though, it seems the more trips to DW we take, the less pins we get. Grrrr...that doesn't seem right.

Same here! I've tried all the so called tricks and have yet to ever receive a PIN. I've signed up several different emails and done profiles on the Disney sites, saved vacation offers, order the DVDs and maps several times a year, and do every survey I can, both the ones they send to my email and the ones in the parks. Still no PINs.

I have been going to Disney since the 90's, usually every other year or so, stayed at mods and deluxes, joined the website, put vacations on hold, ordered maps, videos, blah blah blah, never got a PIN.

I always seem to get pin e-mails when we are not planning a trip. I received about 4 e-mails with pins last year. The last one I received was last month. We are tossing around the idea of going back to WDW, so I just checked that last e-mail to price the trip, and noticed that the pin expired on 12/31/10. Of course, now that I need a pin, I don't have one.

I did the same thing. I requested a dvd then got an email with a pin saying something like you're going in june, here's a discount for you good June 1-30 for 10% off your room. When I called disney reservations to inquire, they looked it up and said it's good for anytime throughout the year up until 12/23 and that it's good for 10-15% of value resort (room only) or 20% off moderate room only. If i want to book a moderate package that includes tickets, I get 25% off room, plus a free ticket upgrade. WOW!!! That really made me happy since it doesn't look like public discounts are usually given June/July.

Congrats on your first pin. We've been to disney numerous times and the only time we got a pin code it was under my father's name (who had gone with us on a previous trip) so no use to us. Oh well we can always hope for some pixie dust in the future (but will continue to go regardless)

my first pin last summer after doing some of those same things. We humans remember some events better than ever and tend to see patterns where none exist so I don't know if it truly shows causality.

I received my first offer in May of last year. (I saved the emails even if I didn't use them.) Pin offers also came in June and July. All were for Fall trips when I was looking for summer. In October I received a summer offer that was good for the summer. It was a room only discount that was 20% off values and mods and 30% off deluxes. (The same offer was out for 10% higher than that.) That's better than the 10% I could get with AAA. The odd thing was that pin was oonly good for a week when the rest were open for a month.

No more pins since making our reservations then.

Don't give up hope.

My last three trips have all been booked with PINS. 2005,2008 and this coming Oct. Plus I hace received PINS every year even when I didn't go. This year taking the family with me, so I need two rooms.

Spent 30 minutes or so playng with dates, resorts on the Disney website, ordered the Vacation planner DVD and Voila!!!three days later a 35% off resort PIN in my e-mail.

Was going either way but the PIN saved me over 400.00. Can't complain about that.....

I received my first pin 1/7 (last week) via email, I didn't even realize what it was at first. DD was scheduled to leave for WDW on 1/10, I really wish I could use the pin but unfortunately will not be able to this year.

Question: if using a travel agent, can they use the pin to get you a discounted rate on the room or is it only applicable if you call up and make the ressies yourself? thanks!

No Pins here in a while. A sure fire way to stop PINS is to become a AP holder. Before I was one I got a bunch, now not so much.
Funny thing though, I have 3 email addresses. 2 get PINS - one for my grandma who has never booked a vacation (guest in room) and one for my sister who hasn't booked a vacation (guest in room). Go figure!

I am not getting an AP this year so we will see it the tide changes....

Did you get the PIN after the DVD? I've ordered and am waiting for a dvd. And I'd even be happy with 10% in June! I just hate, hate, hate to pay full price
