On Valentines day 14 years ago the cat we had recently adopted, Milo, gave birth to 3 little kittens, Socks, Rajah and Greggers. Rajah and Greggers went off to live in their forever homes together and little Socks stayed with Mama kitty and us.

Recently my Mom noticed that Socks was losing wieght and not eating so she took him to the vet. She just found out his blood work looked bad and his urine analysis looked bad. She will probably have to put him down. He's old, he's lived a good life. But since I've moved out of the house him and Milo have been my Moms companions. She's taking this hard. And I'm not doing so well either, I've never lost a pet before. My poor Mom apologized to me because she has to put him to sleep. I'd rather not see him suffer though. :(

This sucks.

I'm so sorry about your sweet Socks. It does suck big time, and it's OK to be sad--he's a cherished member of your family. It sounds so trite, but it's true--Socks had a loving and wonderful home and I'm sure you've brought each other so much joy in life. That's what's really matters, and you can do no more than that. I really wish our companion animals could spend more time on earth with us--sometimes it's just not fair. I'm very sorry, Preshi...

Sorry to hear this Meagan. :(

So very sorry, Meg, to hear about Socks. :( I know well your love of animals, our furry family friends. This always seems to help comfort, my best for you and mom.............

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
 I am so sorry!
I had to put my first pet down 10 years ago this coming October, and I still remember the pain :(

Thoughts and prayers are with you & your mother

I'm sorry Meagan :(

I'm sorry  Some times being a responsible pet owner is the pits!! I've been there too. Trust that it is the right thing to do for your fur-baby.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

My mom had to put her dog to sleep right after Thanksgiving. It's so hard, but sometimes it's what's best :(

I'm so sorry. The most loving decision we make for our beloved pets is also the hardest. And no matter how long we have them, it's never long enough.

You, Socks and your mom will be in my thoughts.....

I know what you are going through.
Just lost one of my babies last Thursday......it's never easy.

So sorry to hear about Socks. I had to put down Spike, my friend of almost 18 years, over Christmas. It does stink. Pet's become our family. They never care what you look like, what kind of mood your in, how much money you have in your pocket, or whether you've had a shower or not. All they ask is food, water, and to share love. As a personal opinion, making the decision to put down a pet was hard, but if we didn't he'd have prolonged pain. In same ways, it's the final, best gift you can give. All my best.

Pat

I'm so sorry Meagan. It's so hard to lose our furry friends. {{{{HUGS}}}} to you and your Mom.

Heck, we were all bummed when our little kitten was sick and she has only been in our family since Saturday!!! Thank goodness, tho, she's better. But we have older cats, one who's been getting sicker just a little bit more often.:(

So sad to hear about your Socks!
