I have just finished up our itinerary for our January 2005 trip. I have parks picked out, the restaurants picked out, the must do rides for the day, etc. DH says I'm too detailed. Our last trip, we only had figured out in advance which parks we were going to go to AND THAT WAS IT. It seemed like alot of waiting around for the older people in our family to go on the "big" rides that the little ones couldn't go on. So, here's my itinerary. It's for me, dh, dd16, dd6, ds4. We're staying at the Contempoary. DD16 is a veg, so I'm trying to accomodate her with our meals. I'm not sure on some of the times, so I have question marks for those. Also not sure of all the places to eat:

Mon Jan 3

- Eat breakfast in room
- EE at AK, 8am-noon
must do: nothing, there are no rides here that are a must
- Eat lunch @ Tusker House (noon)

- Dad & DD16 go off to Epcot or MK on their own
- Mom, DD6, & DS4 rest at hotel then head to MK

- Everyone meet up 5pm @ Pinocchio Village House for dinner
- MK closes at 7pm (?)

- Early to bed

Tue Jan 4

- MK 9-1pm
- Lunch @ Castle for 1pm

- Mom & DD16 stay at MK
must do: Space Mt. & Big Thunder Mt.

- Dad, DD6, & DS4 go back to hotel for rest or stay at MK

- 4pm take DD6 & DS4 to Neverland Club (w/dinner there)
- Dad, Mom, & DD16 go to MGM
must do: RnR, Star Tours, WWTBAM
- MGM closes at 7pm

- Pick up children at Neverland Club and head back to hotel
- up in the air...maybe stay up and watch EWP at hotel
- get something to eat at Food & Fun Center

Wed Jan 5

- Sleep late
- MGM 10:30am-7pm
- Late breakfast 10:30am @ ABC Comm.
must do: Muppet Vision, Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour

- Parade @ 3:30pm (have snack during parade)

- Dinner - haven't decided yet

- Fantasmic @ 7pm (still not sure if we'll do this, probably depends on if we get our rides in)

Thu Jan 6

- Breakfast in room
- EE @ MK
- Lunch 11am @ MK (not sure where)

- back to room to rest after lunch

- Epcot at 3pm
- Dinner at 5pm (somewhere quick, not sure where yet)

- Stay for Illuminations (not sure what time it is)

Fri Jan 7

- Sleep late
- Late breakfast 10:30am @ Kona Cafe

- Epcot after breakfast - 9pm

- Dinner @ Japan 6pm

So, how does it look???? It seems I don't have enough MK time in there and that's the place we go to the most. I'm sure I'll have to tweak this somewhat.

As a recovering park commando, I've had plans that makes that look like a rough draft outline;)

Wow! Your DH thinks that is too detailed??? I'd hate for him to see mine! LOL!! I think it looks wonderful and very flexible to work around.

Have fun!!

Looks great and that dosen't sound to detailed to me at all! Make sure you make good use of FP this way the younger kids don't have to wait and you don't have to separate. For example I might pick up a FP for Space Mtn before your Cinderella lunch - it may well be for a ride time well after lunch!

Remember that instead of separating completely you can use FP and or child swap so that you and dh could ride with the older child without having the younger two wait. For example, grab a FP for Space Mt with 4 of the park tickets and then hit fantasyland or something the family can enjoy. Later, during the return time dh and dd hit space mountain while you take the little ones on say Peter Pan or even the TTA or get an ice cream. Then you and dd can re-ride Space Mountain with the other 2 FP's while DH takes the younger two to do something else.

I have found alternative attractions near to all the "mountains" so that the family can stay together and still meet everyones needs. Just an idea!

eta:
Remember that instead of just ordering the obvious vegetarian choices at the restaurants, most restaurants, especially the sit down restaurants will make anything vegetarian for your dd. Check out the special section on vegetarian dining and all the menus on www.allearsnet.com - a great reference in addition to the "dis".

Have a great trip.

If there are no rides that you consider a "must do" at AK, then I'd do AK on a non-EE day. It'll be a bit less crowded.

I'd also consider adding the FOTLK show at AK as a "must do". not a ride, but VERY enjoyable.

(WDW Trivia follows: a recent guest survey ranked FOTLK as the best show on property. Not just AK. All of WDW.)

Not too detailed at all. And just remind your DH that it is a plan, but it is not etched in stone. If you don't have *some* idea of wher eyou want to go and what you want to do, how do get anywhere? Especially with the different ages. I liek how you split things up -- each parent ahs alone time with DD and the three of you have time together -- adn the little ones aren't just waiting for the big ones, like you said happened last trip. I think it's very well planned out -- without being over detailed!!

I usually planned the order for the first two or three attractions int he park (see this first, this second, this third) and then just had a list of other things to see after the first two or three. this works pretty well (Pretty much like your must do list, etc.)

Oh, and I totally agree that Festival of the Lion King would be a must see for your family. It is great for all ages!!

Good luck and enjoy!

I don't think it's detailed either. I have a 4 year old son and some must do's for us are: Disney Playhouse and Beauty and the Beast at MGM. Definitely use Fastpass and the Childwatcher pass. We were able to let the older kids in our group go on RnR twice in a row because we got the Childwatcher pass. Each adult got to go once and it says up to 3 people can use it.

Our 4 year old also really loves World Showcase in Epcot. The Kidcot stations are a must. There's lots of characters often hidden in the back of the countries. We have had to literally drag him away from the toy train village in Germany. In UK there's a hedge maze around the bandstand and in the Toy Shoppe, there's a Thomas the Train table and lots of Pooh stuff--sometimes the characters too!
