Family of 5 using Armed Forces Salute tickets for on property stay June 19 through 27th.

I decided to make selections under my account and copy and paste to my 4 family members. Made my selections around 7 PM on my official 60 day mark.

Used the MDE App scan function to input our Salute ticket vouchers. Worked very well. I had to back out to Home after linking each ticket. Received an email alert on my lap top within 30 seconds of linking each ticket.

Used Safari on my Mac to actually make the FP selections.

Saturday June 20th:
Dinosaur 11 AM
Kali RR 12 PM
Expedition Everest 2 PM

Sunday June 21st:
Tower of Terror 10 AM
TSMM 11 AM
Star Tours 12 PM

Thursday June 25th:
Soarin 10:30 AM
Spaceship Earth 12 PM
Mission Space 1:30 PM

Friday June 26th:
Peter Pan 10:30 AM
Mine Train 11:30 AM
Space Mountain 1 PM

I started with MK June 26th and worked my way backward. For some reason I decided to use the copy and paste method. I don't know if it helped me but I was able to get everything I wanted at nearly the exact times I wanted. I was easily able to move around times so that I got exactly on the hour or half hour or 5 minutes after (that was my goal). The whole process of linking my tickets, making selections for 4 park days and copying them took about 1.5 hours.

So at 7 PM on our 60 + 7 day mark (I think I did that right) there was plenty of availability for Mine Train, Parade, Wishes and even A&E. I toyed with making Wishes reservations or just making A&E reservations but decided against it. I checked A&E for parties of 1, 2 & 5 with plenty of availability.

Only thing I have to say is the tower of terror FP is a bit early... you could still potentially have walk on rides at that point. Perhaps make that for later?

Yeah - I struggled with that one and may go back and shift it. I was trying to use Josh's Cheat Sheet as a rough guide and tailor it to our family.

My goal was to make all of our FP's between 10-1 to give us a better shot at additional FP's.

I am thinking we will ride RnR 2-3 times at rope drop and then head toward ToT. If it is walk on we could ride once then use our FP to ride a second time right away....

not sure .... may make changes....

At 1, you won't get a fourth FP in summer time... At least, I wouldn't plan my day around getting another one.

I disagree, at least for MK. I was there at Spring Break and there was quite a bit of availability throughout the afternoon and evening hours for Buzz, Splash, BTM, and many others.

The other parks, not so much, at least for the most popular rides.

We were talking about DHS.

In general the 10-1 strategy is for all parks but as PP pointed out that may not work at HS.

Following (sort of) Josh's Cheat sheet my plan was to go to a kiosk as soon as we ride Star Tours and attempt to get an additional FP for Great Movie Ride.... we'll see how that works out.

This is a work in progress for me (as I'm sure it is for others). I had the old system down - this is going to take some planning and probably some trial and error. In theory I like the idea of this system but I am very curious to see how it works for our family on this trip and want to share that experience with everyone here...

(This is not intended to be a place to have a general FP debate)

I may make some tweeks to HS and maybe AK and if I do I will come back and let you know.

I don't do trip reports but I am planning on coming back and giving a run-down of our experience with FP. I will try to remember to take some screen shots at the kiosks as well as our family size (5) may provide more typical results for other families than an individual guest.

Thx for posting. I make my selections Friday. Hoping to be as fortunate!

Are you 30 or 60 days out?

How long is your stay?

What is your party size? Are you planning on making all FP the same or splitting up?

I was planning on making mine at Midnight the night before since we are going at a pretty busy time. With work and travel I just was not able to log on till later that evening and I was sick to my stomach thinking I was not going to get Mine Train. I was VERY surprised to see all of the availability for the super hard to get rides.

Even today I am seeing plenty of availability for our entire group for A&E, Wishes and the parade for June 26th. Very surprised!

Good Luck! I bet you will do just fine!

Another thing that stood out to me was how well the system worked! In the past my experiences with any and all Disney websites has been pretty terrible. I had not really used the App much until recently because it was so buggy and slow. We had done FP selections before as part of a "test" but I don't believe the system was fully rolled out at that time. This time the entire system seemed to work much, much better.

Using the App on my iPhone was super slick for scanning in the tickets. The only glitch was that for some reason I had to back out and come back in between each ticket to get them to show up. Loading 5 tickets this extra step probably added 1-2 minutes to the whole thing.

I prefer to use the large screen and interface of the lap-top so I decided to make my selections on the Mac using Safari. I still had the App open on my phone and was logged in to both places. I was basically using the App as a second screen and was amazed at how quickly everything updated to each device.

After selecting my group of three I was pleased at how quick and easy it was to change times. My past experience during a "test" phase was that it was hard to find times that worked for us. This time each ride gave me a huge variety of times to pick from. One thing that I learned on the fly is that it does not matter what "option" you choose because you can quickly go in and choose times to fit your needs. (At least that was my experience this time)

I will be 60 days out on Friday so my plan is to get FP+ at midnight (that is, stay up on Thursday until midnight). We are there for a week and party of 5. Only 2 in the group will want to do the more "intense" rides, so I have flexibility for rides like RnR, Space, EE and BTMRR, when I won't need 5. Also, the 2 kids in the group are teen boys -- no need for A&E or Belle.

My goals are getting times for longer wait rides like Soarin', 7DMT, etc. that we'll all want to do. Also, to book rides for arrival (late pm)/departure(early pm) for rides we love at MK (not necessarily the headliners). For instance, I'll book Jungle Cruise, Dumbo and Peter Pan for our arrival -- but for a full day MK I'll do 7DMT, Splash, maybe BTMRR.

I think I'll be fine. Your experience is encouraging! Plus the info here on the boards plus Josh's site have me well prepared.

Even in the "classic" paper FP days, we we never used more than 3 or 4 per day. I think the new system will suit our touring style.

Will report back Sat here or in another thread.
