My family's 1st trip to WDW. Update 11/28 So Sad It Is Our Last Day Pg 10 Final Post

BTW, not only does our DS4 think the monorail is a ride - it is his favorite ride in all of WDW!;)

Just think of the $ you would save if you didn't buy park tickets and just road the monorail around. :lmao: I really wish we would have had moretime to ride.

Thank you for the nice comments. Good luck in planning your next trip.

We do good again and we are up and going early with high hopes of making it to see the opening ceremony at Hollywood Studios. My original plan had been to sleep in but after reading so much talk about how Toy Story Mania has such a long line and all of the FP are gone by 11 am I decided it would be best to go early and take a break. We had good luck with that system so far and decided to stick with it. We make it to the bus stop at about 8:15 but first we wanted to leave a little surprise for our Mousekeeper, Evangelina:

im001021.jpg

Two can play this game!

We don’t have to wait too long for a HS bus to come. We never really had to wait for any buses during our trip. I know that POR has a bad bus reputation but we had no problems other than they were overcrowded at park closing but whose aren’t? The only issue we had with this bus was that we had two ECV users get on at different stops. I think it took us at least 20 minutes to leave POR if not longer. I think what frustrated me was that while we were loading at the last stop another HS bus pulled up behind us and had already left before we did. Oh well, what can you do? :confused3 I don't think there is anything anyone can do to avoid this type of thing. We did end up getting there just as the opening ceremony was finishing. :sad2:

Ariel stops for a couple of photos.

im001022.jpg

IM001023.jpg

Yep, she finally gets to wear that costume. She makes a cute Ariel doesn’t she?

Our plan of action is that Goofy and I immediately head to Rock N Roller Coaster. We get a child swap. Mickey goes to TSM to get the highly coveted FP. Mulan and Ariel wait outside RnRC for Mickey to come back. The wait for RnRC was 20 min. Not too bad. We just start to get close and I see that it is already 9:40. The first show of High School Musical is at 10:00. This was a very high priority for Mulan. Like most 7 year old girls she loves HSM. She is planning on marrying Troy Bolton. I call Mulan on her cell and tell her that as soon as Mickey gets back to head over to the hat and wait for the show and we will meet them there.

Before going there I guess Mickey takes this picture:

IM001026.jpg

This ride was very fun. They weren’t playing Aerosmith music in the queue and I think this would have gotten me a little more psyched for the ride. We rode again that night and they were playing it then. Maybe it was just too early for most people to be listening to rock n roll. Of course it isn’t too early for “The Coolest Mom Ever”.

Goofy and I make it to the hat at about 9:50 but we have to make a restroom break. We see the rest of the group waiting for the show to start and let them know that is where we are heading. We can’t find the restroom even after asking two CM. We walk by the bathrooms twice. By the time we get out of the bathroom we can’t find Mickey, Mulan and Ariel. What was a reasonable size crowd becomes huge. Goofy and I can’t find M., M. and A. anywhere. We can’t even see the show. Here is what we miss:

IM001032.jpg

IM001035.jpg

Yep, Ariel gets to be in the show. :yay: Mickey tells me that she gets picked to go up there twice. I guess that $64 costume pays off. I am very happy that she got picked to be part of her favorite show. I sure do wish I could have seen it though. :guilty:

Next: One Man's Dream Doesn't Include Vomit

I know not too many people are making comments but at least I see that people are reading so maybe I have an audience after all for my "I feel good moment". I just got back from the Y and I am almost back down to my pre-Disney weight. :yay: I am pretty certain in each picture I post of myself by stomach got bigger and bigger.:rolleyes1

I enjoyed reading every word. Your family looked like you had a great time. We can share the COOLEST MOM EVER title.

:thumbsup2

I've been enjoying your TR.We have been back from our trip to WDW for about a month now.We also stayed at POR but didn't have the wonderful mousekeeper that you had.We never got a towel animal.I've been enjoying reading the fun your family had with your mousekeeper.Looking forward to the rest of your TR.

I'm enjoying your TR. I really want to try Tepan Edo after so many great reviews, but I'm guessing a 3 yr old may not enjoy it so much...I'll have to live vicariously through yours and other TR! :rotfl:

Thank you for your comments. Sorry to hear about your mousekeeper. What building were you in and what were dates?

I don't see why a 3 yr old wouldn't enjoy Tepan Edo. They serve noodles and basic chicken. I would think a 3 yr old would like that. If my kids liked it then yours should. My kids are incredibly picky. :snooty:

Look everyone, I have a new computer skill......multiple quotes.:woohoo:

Subscribing. My sister and I got a pin code for free dining so we are going to WDW in 2 weeks! We are staying at POR. I do hope we get good bus service!!!! Your trip has me very excited.

hey nancy! i just followed your link over from the comment you left in my trippie! i just read the whole thing so far, and it sounds like you were having a lot of fun! looking forward to when you get to EMH evening at MK, that we both were at :cool1:

Nancy,
We were in building 38 in the Alligator Bayou section of POR.We arrived Sunday August 10th and departed POR on Saturday August 16th.From our experience that week the worst park for us was Animal Kingdom. We went on Wednesday the 13th.We got there when it opened. It was such a hot day and the park was so crowded that we left the park at 3.We got to see and do the things we had planned and had enough so it was time to leave.

So now it is time for Mickey and Mulan to do RnRC. While they do that I take Goofy and Ariel to meet some characters. First Ariel decides her costume itches and decides to change. I had predicted this and brought some extra clothes in the backpack.

The first character greeting we come to is Woody and Buzz. The wait time is 25 minutes. Way more than I like to meet characters but we know it is going to get worse later. The park is really crowded. At least it is an air-conditioned area. This is a cute area to wait and the kids have fun playing with all the props in the queue. Goofy really likes the idea of strapping his sister to a rocket:
im001041.jpg

We have lots of photo opportunities while in line to meet Woody and Buzz:
IM001043.jpg

IM001046.jpg

Finally Goofy and Ariel get their picture taken:
im001049.jpg

Just before we got to the front of the line Mulan and Mickey called to say they were done. They go over and get some FP for Tower of Terror. We then and meet for lunch. Sorry no food pictures. We wanted to go to Pizza Planet but it was too far from our current location. We see that there are a lot of places to eat near the entrance of Beauty and the Beast so we eat there. It includes a turkey leg stand. Mickey and Goofy had wanted to try the turkey legs ever since they saw them featured on a Food Network episode that was about WDW food. I went to one of the stands and got chicken nuggets and fries. Mulan just wanted fruit and there was a fruit stand near. We also got a couple of orders of McDonald french fries. Everything was right next to each other and it worked out quite well. It is a very good area to eat if you need variety. By the way the turkey leg was very good. They had hoped to get another before the end of our trip but it wasn’t to be.

After we are done getting our tummies full we head over to the Beauty and the Beast for the 12:15 show. We arrive just a little before noon. We have plenty of time to take pictures while we wait.

IM001050.jpg

IM001053.jpg

I am very glad that we got there early for the pre-show with “4 For a Dollar”. They were very good and it is a shame they won’t be performing there any more.

It is now time for the show. We enjoyed this one quite a bit but it sure doesn't beat the Lion King Show at AK.

IM001056.jpg

IM001059.jpg

Finally it is time to use our Toy Story FP. I think our return time was around 1:15. This is pretty darn late considering we got the FP at around 9:15. The stand by line was at 2 hours when we use our FP. As soon as we hand the CM our FP the ride breaks down. We have lots of time to take pictures while we wait.
IM001063.jpg

IM001064.jpg

It is about a ½ hour wait. We get bored since we have hardly had to wait in lines the entire trip.

IM001066.jpg

We do the ride. It is a lot like Buzz only in 3-D. I know a lot people really like this ride but in no way is it worth a 2 hour wait. As a matter of fact no ride is worth 2 hours. I think with all the buzz (no pun intended) about this ride my expectations were too high. I actually think I liked the Buzz Lightyear ride at MK better. The rest of my family disagreed and I know that a lot of other people would disagree.

Just as we get off TSM it breaks down again. This is certainly enough TSM for us in one day. To me it wasn’t worth all the extra effort it took for us to ride this attraction. As you may recall this was going to be a late sleep in day for us but we decided to get to the park early since this would be the only way we could ride TSM.

Next up is Tower of Terror. This is a fun attraction. I was expecting to see the outside more from this ride but it goes so fast. We decide we want to do this again and get another round of FP. Our return time was at 8:35. I know this because we end up not using them all and I saved the ones we didn’t use. You can probably guess by the title of this update as to why we didn’t use them all but I am getting ahead of myself now, aren’t I?

It is time to head back to the resort for our break. We arrive to find Mrs. Flabidee hanging out with the cotton candy we purchased from DTD.

IM001070.jpg

I take Ariel and Goofy for a swim at the quiet pool. I am so tired at this point that I actually fall asleep for just a moment by the pool. I tell Goofy and Ariel we need to go back to the room and rest. Ariel gets the candy we purchased the day before at DTD. I am too tired to pay attention or care how much she is eating. For some reason my motherly “DANGER” instinct doest kick in as it should.

It is time to head back to HS. Goofy changed into his new shirt he got from Expedition Everest and wants a picture.

im001071.jpg

We get to 50’s Primetime Café just in time for our 5:40 ADR but they say there is a wait. I ask if it is ok if we walk around for a bit and I am told no. They don’t give buzzers here and they will yell for us. Mickey takes Mulan and Goofy with him to get FP for Star Tours. Finally after waiting quite a long time we get called. Our waiter is Uncle Dale. He is very funny. He gives Ariel a hard time about loosing her tooth on such a dangerous ride like Spaceship Earth. The food here was just ok in my opinion. I had the Pot Roast. Mine is better but it was nice to have something that was close to a home cooked meal at this point. Mickey had the salmon. He made no comment one way or another if he liked it. I didn’t think it looked that great. It had some kind of sauce on it with peas. I hate peas so of course I wouldn’t like it. Goofy had fried chicken which he liked. He loves fried chicken. Mulan had the steak. She says she has had better steaks and she has had worse. Ariel gets the hot dog. Ariel only takes one bite of the hot dog. Uncle Dale gives her a hard time about this. He cuts her off a piece and forces her to take a bite. She does it but then immediately lies down on the booth seat. Not a good sign. :sad2: Uncle Dale comes back and starts to give Ariel a hard time about not eating which is what he is supposed to do but I inform him that I don’t think Ariel is feeling too well so he leaves her alone.

I didn’t get any food pictures except for dessert.

My apple cobbler was very good.

IM001074.jpg

Goofy’s sundae was so big but I think he managed to eat most of it which is impressive since he had a shake as his drink with dinner. He looks a little worried here:

IM001075.jpg

My favorite dessert was Mulan’s smores. These were my second favorite dessert of the entire trip. So simple but so delicious. I don’t know what they did different to these as they appeared to be nothing more than a graham cracker with a candy bar and then marshmallows on top along w/ a little extra chocolate syrup as a garnish but they were so very good. I hope to try and copy this desert at some point at home. As a matter of fact when I am done writing this I am going to the store. I think I will add graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows to my grocery list.

IM001073.jpg

After dinner Mickey, Mulan and Goofy head to TOT. Ariel and I walk around. Ariel is saying that she can’t walk any farther and wants to go to the resort. We stop and rest somewhere around New York Street. It was kind of eerie as there were not very many people. I think maybe it would be worth it to rent a stroller. She says that that she would stay if we could rent a stroller. I find someone to tell me where to get one and they say it is up front at the entrance. Ariel can’t walk anymore and I can’t carry her. I suggest that we go and watch a nice quiet movie, One Man’s Dream. We get inside the theater after about a 5 minute wait. I decide it would be a good idea to sit next the exit. The “DANGER” motherly instinct kicks in. After about 5 minutes of the movie about Walt’s life my prudence of sitting next to the door pays off as Ariel starts making that dreaded retching sound that is way too familiar to both parents and drunks. We high tail it out of there just in the nick of time. I don’t think Walt’s dream included vomit in his theater.

After we pull ourselves back together Mickey calls saying they are done. We meet at the hat and we decided that Mickey will be the one to take Ariel back to the resort. He takes the camera with him so these are my final pictures of HS in this update:

im001078.jpg

IM001079.jpg

After they leave we use our Star Tours FP. We give the two extra away. Mulan and Goofy thing I am crazy but I explain the importance of sharing the magic. Nice ride but nothing to get excited about. We then use our TOT FP. We see they are giving wrist bands at the hat. The line is huge. Goofy remembers seeing that Prince Caspian is still open. We thought it closed early for some reason. While we wait he runs over there to see. The line moves really fast thought and we already have wrist bands before he gets back. Turns out there is no waiting for Prince Caspian but then I remember there is no Prince Caspian it is really just the trailer for the movie. Mulan thinks Prince Caspian is hot. Minnie thinks Mulan has good taste and we will settle for the fake Prince Caspian. We decide that it just isn’t worth it though for the trailer only. Earlier the wait was 40 minutes so there must be a lot of people that think Prince Caspian is hot and will settle for the fake one.

Since everything else we want to do is open during EMH we decide to go see One Man’s Dream. I think it will be good for the kids to learn about the man that is from our home state and had such a wonderful vision for the greatest marketing company in the world. They like it better than they thought.

It is just after 10:00 now. We head over to Fantasmic but we see that they reopened the FP machine for RnRC. We grab some FP first. It is almost 10:25 at this point. The show starts in 5 minutes. The walk to the theater is crazy crowded. Everyone seems to be pushing. We all hang on to each other so we don’t get separated. We get to some of the last few seats about a minute before show time. We of course enjoy the show quite bit. All the water and fire. It was amazing! Towards the end Mulan says “Is that a rain drop?” I say no it is just mist from the water in the show. We feel some more. I start to pull out the ponchos just in case I am wrong. Boy was I wrong. Just as the show was almost over the sky opens up and there is a massive down pour. We throw on our ponchos and proceed to leave with the other 9,000 people that were there. It is a really slow wet walk. As we are leaving I see some poor woman with about a 5 month old infant in her arms walking in the down pour with no protection. I remember I have Mickey’s poncho and have extra’s at the resort so I give her Mickey’s. I hope it helped.

We finally are able to get the heck out of there. Mulan wore tennis shoes and her feet are soaking. She somehow drops her cell phone in the rain too. Parts go flying. Later we learn that she neglected to pick up the cover to her battery. Fortunately it still works without it. It isn’t time for RnRC yet we go to Great Movie Ride but it has a half hour wait. We don’t want to wait that long. So then we decide to see Muppet Vision 3-D but we get all turned around and can’t find it. By this time we are wet and tired and we can use our FP. That is what we do and leave.

We get on the very crowded bus with a bunch of wet tired people. Fortunately we had the most entertaining bus driver yet. His name was Joel. He had us all laughing and singing the entire trip back home. If you have had Joel as your bus driver you are sure to remember him. Despite the fact that we were all wet and tired it was the most enjoyable bus ride of the trip.

Everyone is sound asleep when we get back to the room. Ariel must have started to feel better because they took this picture while we were gone.

Coming Next: Goofy hooks up with Drizella!

Nancy,
We were in building 38 in the Alligator Bayou section of POR.We arrived Sunday August 10th and departed POR on Saturday August 16th.From our experience that week the worst park for us was Animal Kingdom. We went on Wednesday the 13th.We got there when it opened. It was such a hot day and the park was so crowded that we left the park at 3.We got to see and do the things we had planned and had enough so it was time to leave.

Chloesue(Nancy)

Wow, We were practically neighbors. I think the HS day was our worst day too. It was very crowded there as well so it mush have been just a busy day all around which surprises me for a Wed. Maybe it was just EMH's. I would be curious to know how the other parks were on Wed Aug 13. I had thought about flipping our HS w/ our AK day so now I am glad we didn't. Thanks for reading.

Ok, I know that I said the next chapter was going to be titled "Goofy Hooks Up with Drizella" but I decided to divide this day back in two parts. I promise that chapter will soon. I am sure that I am going to have a lot of upset fans as I can see so many people made so many comments after my last post two weeks ago. Yes, that is sarcasm. That really is ok but do feel free to make comments. It keeps me motivated. Anyway, on to the report……..

With the late night we had at HS EMH and Ariel still feeling a little queasy we all slept in this morning. I can’t remember what time we got up but I know that our Mousekeeper Evangeline called us wanting to know what time we needed service. I explained that we had one that wasn’t feeling well and it wouldn’t be until later. She wanted a time so we told her 1:00. She sounded disappointed. I don’t think she ended up cleaning our room because when we left we set up Mrs. Flabidee in front of the mirror wearing Ariel’s pajama’s and holding two shirts like she couldn’t decide what to wear. When we came back to our room later that night she was flung on the refrigerator like the Mousekeeper was saying “Why the heck is this bunny in my way?” We forgot to take a picture of Mrs. Flabidee before we left so no pictures of Mrs. Flabidee for this day.

Anyway, this was our flexible day. As you may recall we really wanted to go back to Animal Kingdom. However it was going to be at least 1:00 before we would leave the resort. It has also never stopped raining from the night before. It wasn’t one of those down pours where it rains real hard and the sun comes out. It was one of those steady rains and you’re not sure if it is ever going to stop. Animal Kingdome didn’t seem like an appropriate place to be on a rainy day. We did have an ADR at Park Fare that night so it seemed to me that going to Magic Kingdom was the better choice. We also looked at the list of attractions realized that we still had a lot that we hadn’t seen there. While we had planned a full day there the next day we felt it may be prudent to get a few of those things out of the way and take a little bit more of a slower pace. So after lunch at the POR food court (sorry no food picture but the lunch was good, lots of choices) we were off to Magic Kingdom. Here we are on the bus:

IM001083.jpg

We arrive at MK just before the 3:00 parade starts. Main Street is a crowded mess so we get on the train to Frontierland. We really are way to tired to walk anyway. Our plan is to get a FP for Big Thunder Mountain. Here we are on the train.

IM001089.jpg

We get off the train and everything people say about the wait times on rides are much shorter during the parade is true. BTMRR only has a 20 minute wait. So we go ahead and ride. We take a picture outside the ride. I am not sure if it was before of after we rode.

IM001093.jpg

We like this little coaster so we get FP for later too. Next we decide to explore Tom Sawyers Island. They have us packed on the ferry boat like sardines but we survive.

IM001094.jpg

We have a lot of fun exploring the island. I have a lot of flashbacks from when I came here in 1973. Everything looks vaguely familiar. I seem to remember a few years ago we were at Silver Dollar City and I was wondering where all the little caves were that we could crawl in and where the fort went. Now I know they are at WDW. :lmao:

There is a lot to look at here. The kids have fun pretending like they are shooting things in the fort.

IM001099.jpg

Some more pictures
IM001100.jpg

IM001096.jpg

IM001102.jpg

After we leave the Tom Sawyers we use our FP for BTMRR. Here is Micky and Goofy before we take off.

IM001104.jpg

Mickey and the kids head over to the gift shop next to the Hall of Presidents to look around. They don’t buy anything but they seem to have fun taking some pictures.

IM001105.jpg

IM001108.jpg

IM001110.jpg

While they are there I go to Sleepy Hallow for a funnel cake. We had figured out we the we had about 18 snack credits left so we may as well use them right? I also get their chocolate chip ice cream sandwich. I have always liked funnel cakes but can never handle eating more than ¼ of one and nobody in my family was ever willing to share. As a result I rarely get them but this time Mulan takes a bite. She loves it. Mickey devours the chocolate chip ice cream cookie. I would have to say the chocolate chip ice cream cookie ends up being our favorite snack of the trip for the trip. YUMMO!

This is the closet thing we have to a food picture. Mulan is too busy eating to stop for a quality picture in front of the castle.

im001111.jpg

It is now time to head out for our ADR at 1900 Park Fare but we do take time to hula hoop along Main Street.

Thank you for the comments. Yes, you should certainly get the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. We tried making one at home with my homemade cookies but it wasn't the same. It was too sweet. The one we had was just right.:thumbsup2

I probably won't get to a new installment for a while. I work today and we are going to Kansas City next weekend. Micky has meetings there for work and the kids are off school so we are going to tag along.

Have fun in December.:goodvibes

Love all the updates! So sorry about Ariel getting sick, but it sounds like she was able to get back at it the next day! What a trooper! :) Mmmmm...I love those funnel cakes in MK, already on my list for our trip. However, I read somewhere that you can get cinnamon/sugar on them instead of powdered sugar which sounds heavenly so I will try that this time!
Hmmm - getting worried about the TSM situation:3dglasses . We had really hoped that the "excitement" would die down by the time we get there and the waits would be less and the FP crush would no longer be, but it doesn't seem that has happened yet on any report I've read. I really don't want to wait in a huge line for this one, but my oldest DS (4) is so excited for the ride. Even the rush for the FP in the early morning isn't sounding good for us - we will be with my MIL and SIL, neither of whom like to get up early and so getting to rope drop is a feat and neither of them will hurry off to get the FPs so that will be DH or I.:confused3

Yes Ariel did bounce back. I really think it was a junk food overload vs any kind of illness. I never thought of cin and sugar in the funnel cake. That does sound good.

Hopefully by the time you get there it will die down some. I see you are going in Dec. Unless you are going during the Christmas rush maybe it won't be so bad.

Thanks for reading!

Nancy, so glad I found your report - can't wait for more!
I wonder if the same mousekeeper was there back in '99 when the five of us stayed there - every day the kids couldn't wait to get back to the room to see what all their Disney stuffies were doing, and we even bought a few more while there to add to the fun. Their favourite was the stuffed Kaa (snake from Jungle Book) cornering everyone on the bed with the stuffies hiding behind a propped up pillow. She did the tv thing too - we were sure the tv was off when we left, and it was priceless to see the kids' faces (they were 4, 8 and 10) when they saw all their stuffed Disney friends on the end of the bed with the remote staring at the Disney channel on tv!
You have a beautiful family, and I'm enjoying all of your fun and special moments. Keep 'em coming!

Thank you for your comments. The mousekeeper does sound the same. She probably has just as much fun as we did with the stuffed animals. Hopefully I will finish our day soon. I also got my photopass pictures uploaded so I will be adding them too.

My family and I spent the weekend in Kansas City. It was a budget trip while Mickey had meetings that happened to be scheduled when the kids were out of school on Friday. It was depressing because our hotel room overlooked a major theater that had the Broadway version of Lion King. No way that was in the budget. :sad2: One of these days I will get to see it. I would love to throw some pictures of that trip in to the TR but we forgot the camera along with underwear for Ariel. The underwear was easily purchased but not the camera. :rolleyes1
